Thread: JTL Missions what in god's name is wrong with you SOE?

Fine to me.
Just get a lot of people.
We just completed someone's corvette mission with only 7 people.
I'm glad the game is working for you.
My difficulty is that I don't have a lot of time to find people, to make sure they're of comparable levels, to get them up into space, to get them to the target, to get them to the next target... etc.
It is very difficult indeed - and not very satisfying at all - if circumstances mean that you have to take a generally solo approach to JTL.
In the ground game, for example, I would never expect to solo the Deathwatch Bunker or to kill a DJM. That doesn't matter because there are a lot of other things to do. However, in JTL I have no alternative but to take on impossible odds with weak tools.

I completely agree. We should not have to group with a ton of peopleto get these missions done.

I think part of the problem is how exceedingly long the missions are. I think it would be much easier to find people to group with if they knew that it would only take 20 minutes. However, if you have to ask for help on a mission that may take anywhere from 1-2 hours, it is a bit tough to find others who are willing to invest the time in something that does not help them much at all.

I'm in total agreement with you.
And what's worse, is that the missions are multistaged. If you fail one, you fail all - but your group, all in all, doesn't have to care one way or the other.
SOE knows that this is a problem - that's why ONE person can get a Corvette mission but the entire GROUP gets the AV21 schematic when it's done. Why couldn't they apply this principle to JTL?

The part that gets me is the one where you have to return all the way across the planets just to re-get the mission.
So if you complete 99% of the ridiculously long mission you don't get any credit for what you've accomplished.
I got the "fake list" mission tier 3 box 3 on Naboo at the Emperors Retreat. The mission is all the way on Dathomir so on my way there I landed on Dathomirs Science post and guess what? It said I failed the mission. Why, because I landed on the same sector of dathomir?
If you hyperspace from one sector to the other on the same planet you don't lose your mission, so why this?
They need to look at some of the ways things are now done.
Tell me about it. I spent most of this evening failing the Inquisitor 2nd Tier 3 mission stage by stage
I located the yacht.
I disabled the yacht
I inspected and docked with the yacht.
I went to a satellite and began transmititng the information
I fought off 8 fighters
I went to another location and got some documents to take to a freighter at another location (this would have been the last stage)
On the way there, I got attacked by another 8 fighters and blew up.
I actually had the documents when i went back to the mission gver who told me to start all over again. It was ridiculous.

Someone else who doesn't seem to understand...
*SOME* of us don't have 5 hours a day to play a game.
*SOME* of us are hard pressed to sit down for two consecutive hours a day.
*SOME* of us don't appreciate being forced into situations which in all honesty present large and very unfair barricades to *OUR* enjoyment of the game (which, as you may be aware, *WE* pay for as well).
Is it really asking all that much to at /least/ have the long missions broken up, such that completion of a stage flags that stage as complete? At least then you aren't forced to fly the same bloody mission twice in a row because the server crashed, or (worse yet!) real life got in the way (and how DARE it do such a thing!).
And a quick note about groups: Groups are great. I love them. They make life in the game easy. And they're hands down THE hardest thing to make happen. Every time I've tried getting into a group to go do something--ANYTHING--in an MMORPG, we've wound up wasting just as much time staging as actually doing anything worthwhile. Yeah, I'm real glad if you're in a guild. I'm not. Many others aren't. Real bloody sorry we don't live up your I-have-five-hours-every-day-to-sit-and-play-video-games standards.
EDIT~ After giving this some afterthought, I'd like to add: if I came off as overly cynical or vitriolic, that's not my intent. But I get *very* tired of listening to people who've "been there, done that" slamming ordinary folks with legitimate problems. I appreciate the fact that people have already mastered the pilot profession. I haven't, and I won't be able to for awhile. But just because -you- can/have done it, doesn't mean that everyone else with the will to do so will necessarily be able to.
