Thread: Question: Uhhh where did the special ships go?

If Im correct didnt the DEVs prerelease say, "Adding components to you ship changes the shape and look of the ship"....and also didnt they say, "Some starships will be able to customize the colors and add symbols on the ships."
Uhhh I get a ship and the only thing I can change is between a Red and Green laser....

You can change the colour of your ship with a paint kit and add some symbols with various texture kits. Both can be made by shipwrights.

engines also change on the x-wing based on what engine you put in it. I've seen a few with large retangular engines instead of the movie small round ones. If you have an Imperial ship you can only change the weapon color.

on freelance ships, engines, boosters, and weapons all look diffrent when equpied.

yep diferant weapons boosters and engins look diferant on ships as some1 said in the case of my x-wing it started with 4 round engins with flames coming out then i put a diferant engin in now with the wing closed it looks like a a strip down either side of the main chasi with the wings open they split into 4 smaller rectangles 1 on each wing were it conects to the ship.

ywing with incom engines does not have the caged engine look at all
parts matter ^_^

on every Reb ship i have if i change the engine or the weapons they look different and can be seen while flying. each reb ship i know has about 5-7 textures you can put on it and you can of course change the color scheme of the textures.

I have also noticed that different weapons look different on an Xwing.

Dude, your flying cannon fodder. Vader and his ilk don't give a damn about you lot, do you think they'd let you paint go-faster stripes on your TIE? If you want to be distinct come join the light side..

ya if you want to wear orange ugly jump suits go with the rebel insurgents with goofy ships...otherwise be awesome with black suits with uniform/professional black sleek deadly ships

I do know that imperial ships cannot be changed in color or texture, nor can the look be changed by components. It was mentioned that Lucasarts didnt want to change that iconic look, and a good excuse was that Imperials were in the navy, and you could only use imperial colors (military gray)
Sorta like being a tank driver in the army, and tricking out your panzer withnew phat exhaust pipes that spew fire, chrome rims, and a saphire sparkle paint job.
People have also said, that imperial pilots PAY for there ships, shouldn't they be able to do whatever they wanted to them?
Perhaps so. Perhaps the way the Star Wars universe works out, the Imperial navy requires you to purchase your ships. And, in order to serve the Emperor, you must adhere to strict guildlines on what your ship can look like...
