I haven't read or seen this on any thread so. For JTL will all joysticks be supported? I was a nasy surprise for me to find out that only a handful of video cards were supported by SWG and I would like to know now what specific joystick systems will be supported and MORE IMPORTANT which are preferred. I'm gonna buy the game, and the 'preferred" joystick. I just don't want to get it and then find out that I need a new stick/throttle.

I have not seen a list of supported joysticks or controllers. The devs make it sound like any controller should work.

I wouls suggest they are going to use Direct Input for controller support & that means pretty much anything that DX can "see" will work.

Dev's have stated that there will be support for all Joysticks and Gamepads...from the cheapest pad to the most sophisticated 'Stick and Throttle setups
So get the setup you feel comfortable with...you will be fine

Believe it or not, after freelance you will see that joysticks suck for flght sims.. Freelancer really changed the way playing flight sims game work. I would say screw a joystick, use the mouse if its done right like Freelancer was...

I did Like how Freelancer implemented the mouse, but I still go with a joystick for over all eh whats the word? eh better flying, its all down to personal preference, I believe they did they somewhere that you can use a mouse/keyboard combination too if you choose to, but even my ageing SideWinder Pro will suit me better, with its throttle, yaw (is that right?) & miriad of buttons ![]()

I wish the would sell the game with a special edition flight stick either an imperial one or rebel one.2 reasons for this one it would be cool. two well i always buy joysticks and find it hard as **edit** to get em to work on game cause configuring them and junk. I wont one that stupid proof. u plug it in go into the game and from inside the game it already has key setups for that controler. Most games dont have that and its a pain in ass.

could you imagine what a special edition joystick would cost??? and think of how cheap the quality would be vs. one you could get from the store right now that is far advanced

Joysticks WILL be supported, but the game was designed with a mouse in mind, and many who got to try it have said that they preferred the mouse.
This is most unfortunate, IMHO, because joysticks certainly "feel" more like really being in the action, but if it's designed with mice in mind, then that's probably going to be the more effective choice.

The keyboard and mouse makes more sense to use than a joystick. If this were a one player game, a joystick would work just fine. However this is an MMORPG and keyboard accessibility is required. We all need to communicate, and a joystick would just get in the way.
