This is most unfortunate, IMHO, because joysticks certainly "feel" more like really being in the action, but if it's designed with mice in mind, then that's probably going to be the more effective choice.

The keyboard and mouse makes more sense to use than a joystick. If this were a one player game, a joystick would work just fine. However this is an MMORPG and keyboard accessibility is required. We all need to communicate, and a joystick would just get in the way.

I would rather just use voice chat with my friends and guildies that are flying with me and have a joystick.

I think the point of using a Joystick is to keep the keyboard free for non flying purpose's

I agree with the above tho'...I have a button on my stick dedicated to key the mic in voice chat

Guess if they are gonna be supported then I need to go out and buy a new joystick since all my other ones are very very old, even ancient rofl

Even if it is very old, if you could play the x-wing and or tie fighter games on it you should be fine. Most old joysticks can still be used by current games.

LoL, i hope they support older sticks, I always have LOVED my old Sidewinder 3D Pro, I have em for all 3 of my computers. GREAT old joystick, they are like the workhoarse, solid plasic and no little bendabled or breakables

Only problem is, no force feedback, meh

I'm not sure how many people have this joystick but I would really like to make sure they are going to Support the Saitek X45 Flight Stick I own. The only flight game I play at the moment is BF1942 and wouldn't ya know it the stick wont work unless I download 3rd party files and edit some of the .cfg files. They continue not to support this joystick 4 patches later. If your all wondering if I baught some sort of cheap no name joystick thats not the case either. Its usually$80 to $100 depending which store you buy from and usually rated one of the better ones from reviews ive seen

Maybe a post was already made like this, but I was gonna suggest give us the brand and model of your joystick so we can avoid this problem.

Joystick I would like to see supported in JTL is:

whats yours?

They should support the X45 considering it is one of the more popular flight sim joysticks on the market.

Well, if you already have bought it then, you could just try it out and see if it works. I doubt it will not be JTL compatable if it is in empire divided.

ok ive seen a lot of posts on which joystick people think will be beter for JTL but has anyone posted or seen an official post on which joysticks/flightsticks will be supported by JTL. I realise the NDA prohibits those in beta from telling us but i think it would be realy good to hear from someone official on this so we dont all go out and pay for a new stick that isnt even supported

its not the class a player plays that causes problems its the lack of class with which they chose to play

I think a dev posted that any joystick/gamepad will work.

You don't need anything too fancy, but you'll have more of an advantage with a joystick then a gamepad. A trigger, 4 buttons, and a swivel handle is the minimum you need to get by for hunting.

I tried playing JTL beta using my mouse but it totally ruined the imersion for me so I went out and bought the Saitek x45 and it made a world of a difference. I still have to figure out how to program the buttons but it is great flying around using the Stick and throttle. I can't wait until I get some free time next week to really play this.

I'm happy with my Sidewinder Precision. I wish that we could assign the buttons alittle easier.
