the majority of people in the game have been playing the game since launch. we have worked hard to achieve the level we are at both through grinding and accumulating weapons and such. i dont think its too much to ask that we should be able to switch species once when JTL goes live. if im paying for both galaxies and jtl its rediculous that i should buy JTL then reroll to have to regrind missing out on the new space expansion. i dont think this is an unreasonable request

Sorry bud but this is a very silly request in my opinion. Nobody is forcing you to get rid of your existing character and if you want one of the new races bad enough then re-roll. case closed. If you cant get a sex-change in SWG then you sure as heck shouldnt be able to get a race-change. hehehe I gotta solution tho... how about they give master tailors the ability to make zip-up race costumes. How many folks would kill to have a wookiee suit. lol 8)

I am going to be a waffler and agree with both. I conseptually agree that the change shouldn't be allowed since conseptually races are picked for specific skill templates and flipping races could give an advantage.

Here is my reasons I would support it though:

* In practice, race matters very little with uber-buffs and armor. I am a wookiee with all my stats in mind and basic health, I let everything else get buffed and I am rarely in trouble (watch out for blurg raptors though, put on your good armor 8).

* There is insanely little information given to new players about how this game works. There are advantages to having certain races, and a one time adjustment might help some folks out.

* There is about to be a total revamp of the game's statistics. This means that my race may become severely disadvantaged to my skills as I have ground them. Basically you signed up under one set of rules then they changed.

* I can only have one character per server. I don't want to go to a new server just to have a different race. If they put a system as I understand other games have where you can have multiple characters on a server (but only play one at a time), then it seems OK, since I can add a new person, transfer stuff over to them and grind up a bit.

Most of all, this game has very little to do after about 3-5 months of continuous play, so why not give a reason to spice it up a bit. Perhaps we can hold on to a few players who are not flocking away to try other games.

I diasgree tednugent. It is too much to ask. I am tired of people wanting to bend and twist every thing in game to personally suit them. Your kind of post and the others demanding a skill point increase always seems to pop up every few weeks and the answer is always the same. I guess as JTL gets closer we will a see a huge increase in these kinds of threads.

This will NEVER happen. Not because of SOE, but because Lucasarts has stated that at no time can a player "change their spiecies". This was stated by a dev some time ago. =( Sorry.

i dont think its that unreasonable to consider it. Most players in the game have played for several months or in my case since launch. i have stuck with the game because i like it and i have spent time grinding to a point in the game where im happy with the skills i have. New species will be appealing to everyone but several people wont go through with it because you will have to regrind everything and with the upcomming combat revamp it could be much more difficult to level. If a finite decision where made where a character could change species and name and be able to ONLY retain the skills they had before they chose to re-roll it would not be that unreasonable.

because so many humans/zabraks would whine when they can't wear all types of equipment anymore... and others will complain that they don't like this species as much as their old one and demand a switchback... if you want to be a new species make a new character.

Well how about we think of it like this:

In coronet instead of having the diverse amount of races we have now, instead we have a huge amount of Ithorians and Sullustans. Secondly is the ongoing arguement that has already been started. Specific races have specific skill mods to start out with and being able to alter those skill mods would just be unfair to the whole community. Now I'm completely aware that there is a huge and equal counter-argument to the one I'm proposing right now but I'm just giving my 2 cents towards the negative side.

i understand you would possibly see a bunch of zabracks then runnig around, but if your going to do it i say you only apply it towards new species if you want giving up your current species benefit for whatever ones the other species has

It would be cool... but your species, gender, and named are basically hard coded into the databank
