Without a group, rifleman cant really solo. Yes, you can solo maybe something your own con lvl. You know, "The safe mobs to fight" but try to strick out and attack something challenging and fun and you will die because once the mob gets into melee range your die.
But wait....
Pistoleers, Carbineers, BH, Smugglers, TKA, pikeman,.... All have the ability to knockdown or lower posture on there enemies. Some have both knockdown and lower posture!!!!!!!!!!
As far as group play PvE: its getting old shooting at mind pool while everyone else is hitting health pool. Make sme feel like im not even needed. Yes, I know you can just shoot without specials and hit the health pool. but man that no fun when everyone else is spamming cool specials.

Go up the ranged support tree and pick up Suppression Fire.
This is so not true. I'm a rifleman and soloing is NOT that hard. Have you heard of stacked mindshot 1 and 2? With a decent laser rifle I average 1400 mind a tic, and if I use my T21 it's even more. Then I hit with headshot3 for about 900 average every 4 seconds (with the laser rifle) or 1600 every 8 seconds with the T21.
Then there's conceal shot, which is great for softening up a tough opponent. You can't target a pool, but after 5 or so shots you're bound to have hit mind 1 or 2 times. The when you start firing mindshots and headshots you still get 2 or 3 in before they notice you.
If you still can't finish something off before it reaches you (happens sometimes but only if you fight things that are very fast) take up two-handed swords! They have mind-damaging specials.

T21's, Laser rifles? Wish we had those on Starsider =( Our resources won't change...so...yah, we're still stuck with DLT20a's. Makes being a rifleman kinda depressing.
I'm going to put this as lightly as I can...
If you can't solo as a rifleman, then you shouldn't call yourself a rifleman.
Try using the various shots available to you and the ranged support line is going to help with that a lot. Threaten shot and warning shot are not to be under-estimated.
My issue is with this,
"Without a group, rifleman cant really solo. Yes, you can solo maybe something your own con lvl."
The first sentence is kinda funny on it's own, but are you complaining about not being able to solo yellows and reds?
Yes, perhaps my comment about suppression fire was premature, as the fix for it is still on the test server.
Try Warning Shot instead. I use it all the time for soloing with several types of weapons.
When i bought this game i had planned my character for months before. I was going to be a master creature handler and tame myself some cool pets. I became a masterandgot myself some Kliknik queens, webmasters and some other nice ones. Me and friend (wich is also a masterCH) ran around on endor tanking with our newly tamed pets, and it was a blast. Everything was good until the nerfing began....
They nerfed and nerfed and nerfed, and for every nerf that came the profession went from a very fun to an almost useless profession. I thought, aah well... the devs will listen to us and get everything back as it should be. Ok, not the (novice Ch can use high lvl pets) thing, but the rest. And on top of that, we got our selfs a correspondant.
BUT... what did happend? NOTHING!
The devs stopped listening and the correspondant threads just kept growing. The CH forum is now up in around 48000 threads. That if something should ring a bell somewhere.. but maybe it's just me..
