Thread: Comparisons between ARC-170 and ETA-2 Actis Interceptor for trading purposes?

I already have the ETA-2 Actis Interceptor (Jedi Fighter) and must say I am VERY impressed with it. Originally I was thinking of trading it for the ARC-170 Aggressive Recon Fighter. This is mainly because Smuggler Alliance Pilots do not really get multiplayer ships until they are master pilots and I liked the idea of having a 3 man gunboat. However, now that I've played with my Actis Interceptor I am reconsidering. This thing is shockingly manueverable then what I've been used to. Because I am an imperial on ground I cannot do the ARC-170 quest to get it so my alternative is to offer a trade. Here are my questions:

1. For those of you who have the ARC-170 I would like to know your thoughts on it so far?

2. What is it's mass?

3. Are the 2 aft turrets rear firing only?

4. Do you all think the ETA-2 Actis is worth trading for the ARC-170?

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

ok heres the drawback

Q. Can i traid my ARC or ETA-2 deed?
A. Yes

Q. what lvl pilot do i need to be to fly them.
A. tier 4 ship lvl.

Q. can i generate the ship if i buy it from someone or traid a rebels arc 170 with my imperial ETA-2 (or reverced)
A. NO, you need to have done the quest to be able to pilot the ship you have, IE you need to save the wookies from dath to be able to pilot the ARC 170 or you need to of been given the ETA-2 from vader on kashyyyk

Bleh! That's a real bummer. Oh well, I guess I have to keep my Actis.

Well I am still interested to hear people's opinion on my original questions about the ARC-170, especially the gun turret question, just in case they ever fix this issue.

or you can do what i did.
Drop faction join imperial pilots and do the quest then drop imperial faction rejoin alliance and regrind alliance pilot (with master pilot bonus 2x exp) i had to do this when i wanted to get an arc 170, no to mention they need to fix Turrets and opporations slots in them aswell as the Y-8

The turrets are what I'd call 'extreme rear' by which I mean they point backwards but have very good range of motion. They cover about 270 degrees heading, and 90 degrees elevation, much more useful than the TIE aggressor turret, from what ive been told.

the ARC-170 is a junk transport compared to the ETA...

ETA-2 Actis=best ship in the game.

Well, thanks for the info. Yeah, I can believe the Actis is the best fighter. I am really loving mine. 90K mass, super manueverable, two gun mounts, missile mount, plus it was kinda kewl to buy an R5 Droid to put in it and see him on my ship chirping away. First time I've ever done that, since I've only been using flight computers before.

No way do I want to regrind faction points just to get the ARC-170 especially if there are turret issues/bugs. Guess I'll wait and if they ever allow freelancers to fly one, I may try to buy one instead of trading away my Actis.

The Arc is a very potent fighter in the right hands, in the last starsider pvp event, I was able to kill 2 or 3 jedi fighters with image recs combined with it's better-than-an-a-wing's maneuverability stats. With a good engine, some skill, and a large supply of missles, it can be rather good in pvp and pve. Perhaps not as an outright dogfighter, but as a missle platform that can dodge well. The only disadvantage is that it only has one launcher.

Is it possible for Freelancers to group up and join as a gunner? Mind you that I am an imperial on ground but SA in space. I assume I can go on leave and group with a rebel and jump into space as a freelance gunner on the ARC-170. This is getting confusing

Should be. I've been a gunner in Dalnara's Krayt before, we're both Imperial on the ground, but she's neutral in space, while I'm Black Epsilon Imperial. I can't sit in the ops chair on her MP ships, but I can play gunnergirl to my heart's content. Heck, we did one of my piloting missions that way, her flying, me in the gunner chair on her Krayt. Pointing the turret in the direction of the waypoint and saying 'Up a little...little more...' then shooting again to show her where the target was was the hardest part

i am a rebel on ground, freelance in space.

i have the arc 170 and now i want the jedi starfighter.

to my understanding, the only way i can do this is retire as a rebel on ground. buy enough imp fp to become imp. do the quest, then get the jedi starfighter.

i shouldnt have to give up freelance in space to do the quest should i?

then after that, to go back to rebel, retire as imp, buy enuf fp to join rebels again.

my biggest concern is if i need to give up freelance or not? cos there is no way i am going to give that up after all the space grinding ive done...

im pretty sure the only prerequisite to do the mission is to be imp on ground and whatever in space...

Your space status, i.e. freelancer, is meaningless for the ground quest to get the ship. You would have to go imperial on the ground to get the ship. But, based on an earlier response above it appears the ships are bugged, I guess. Cause the previous poster was saying I could not pilot an ARC-170 if I were still imperial. The funny thing about that is that according to my freelance ctrl-S at 4XXX I am certified to fly the ARC-170, ETA Actis, and Belbul?? (spelling).

Can anyone else out there confirm whether this is a bug? Or can we still fly the ships no matter what faction ground or space?

That's the case. I read the previous post several times and I don't understand how you draw a different conclusion.
