Thread: Devs are u saying the falcon didn't have a main gun?

Technically no. I don't think anywhere in the manual was there reference to a "front gun". However, I assume the turret guns could be front fire-linked. The thing is that people think that every YT-1300 is the Falcon like everyone thinks every Firespray is the Slave I. Realistically, both of these crafts were worthless. One was a light transport, the other a light patrol ship. The Falcon was heavily modified to be able to "fight and flight".

Did the YT-1300 have the ability to lock ttheir guns forward and fire from the cockpit? I couldn't find an answer so I would assume no as far as this game goes.

If you read some of the StarWars books you will find that the falcon can fire its guns from the cockpit. Chewie did it in Heir to the Empire.

Han fired the Falcon's cockpit gun in Episode IV

After they arrive in Alderaan, just before the TIE Fighter screeches over the cockpit. He reaches up and hits something on the roof and the guns above him fire, though you never see the blasts.

Obi Wan Kenobi: It's am Imperial Fighter. [Han fires guns] No. . . it's a short range fighter.

They were wussy guns, as I remember, but guns all the same. I also THINK (though I am not sure) that Lando fires the cockpit guns at least once during the Battle of Endor, as seen from an exterior. However, it should be noted that all through Empire, when most of the action took place aboard the Falcon, Han never fired a shot.

Of course, in Empire, asteroids weren't clipable.

Oh, please, give it a rest!! Consolidate to as little repeat threads as possible, please. I like my YT as is.

The gun used to shoot the storm troopers was obviously one of Han's "modifications". So, no, the YT was not produced with one.

In XWA the YT-1300 turret could be locked to a forward fire position.

I find it amusing to see everyone talking about how Han, or Lando may or may not have been able to fire a ship gun from the cockpit, and using this as some sort of justification as to why they should be able to solo with a multi-player ship.

To tell you the truth I can't recall the Falcon ever firing any missles....

ATTN: The average YT-1300 IS NOT the Falcon!!!

You guys keep bringing up examples of the Falcon and Han and Lando. Put that aside, for the Falcon was heavily modified, and then talk. What Han had on HIS YT-1300 makes little difference when talking about YT-1300's as a whole.

I dont think any YT-1300s had turrets since they are frieghters and not combat vessels. Also under imperial rule, weapons were considered illegal, so I doubt many normal transports had weapons at all.

In the Star Wars RPG (the d20 game), the stock YT-1300t/c has two laser cannons like the Falcon does, only the Falcon's guns were highly modified (two quad guns instead of two singles).

Personally, I still can't wait to get one myself.

In XWA the firstYT1300 you flew was an Azzermeen ship, if I remember correctly(it's been a while since I've played it). Itdid have a main gun. It was certainly modified, but the gun was there. You could fire-link the turrets to the main gun, or let your droid fire the quads while you controlled the main gun.

Actually yes I stand corrected. I just found that page that has something interesting on it: http://www.rancorpit.com/yt1300.shtml

It says normal yt-1300 had a crew of 1 or 2. This kind of lends evidence to a yt-1300 not having to be exclusively multi-player.

Ah, but give me a YT-2400! That would rock in this game! A small, modern version of the 1300!
