Thread: *sigh*
I really, *really* wanted to go through the DE profession without grinding. I wanted to do it the slow but immersive way of actually improving by making and selling.
As novice engineer I could sell some 2-3 medic mouse droids and 2-3 data mouse droids (for pets). In three days I got one bar into the first square box in DE, but I was cool.
Now they just took 50% of that away, data droids went the side of the already huge list of useless droid creations.
Is hopeless grinding the way they intedended people to advance? It certainly seems so although I sternly refuse to believe that.
*sigh from a novice droid engineer who refused to do the grind*
I have a mouse droid that contains a Level 2 data module that I created before today's patch. I have been able to store droids in it without a problem.
Now, after today's patch, I thought I'd test it out again. I managed to put in a R5 droid and remove the DZ70 that was in there before the patch. In other words, I had two droids in the MSE at once.
So, based on my own personal experience, it is possible to still put droids into the data module, even after today's patch. I don't own a creature pet to test with those...
I also haven't created a new MSE droid with a Level 2 data module to check if only newer data modules have been changed.

Well, I haven't been able to test it yet, but there are people on the main boards saying that their CH type pets and faction pets are stuck in the data modules, and they cannot get them out.
So a data module cannot store waypoints, missions or PCD's. That leaves the only data you can store being schematics.
Someone in development must really hate DE's
Can anyone do some experimenting?

LOL, yeah. That'd be nice, wouldn't it?
Now I see why SOE removed the General Discussion forum.
I know there's already been lots of talk on whether we as Rangers will stick to the profession after the ninja/stealth/unintentional/ridiculous nerf, so I won't go into that further except to express my complete discontent with the way SOE is catering to the "uber" folks. Listen, the idea is that you're not SUPPOSED to be able to do everything you want. That's why they built it this way.
Now that Johnny Commando/TKA can whip out his level 10 tank with 8k HAM and 45% kinetic resist without a camp, pop a flame on a rancor, then punch it while the flame kills it (aren't rancors 100% resistant to heat?) - what's left for us? We don't get a damage bonus to or defense bonus against creatures, our traps are rarely used (I only use phecnacine/glow wire most of the time), tracking is underpowered and unreliable, and we have to compete with every Bounty Hunter for resource sales - the third most popular class as of 10/03.
Now for the finale - I've given serious thought once again to giving up Ranger. I'm sure many of us have done this lately with batch after batch of cool new content for everyone that cripples us (re: swoops), BUT:
I'm sticking with it.
It's not like I really like PvP anyway, since I'm a Wookiee. And lately I've just been doing lots of hunting to help gather awesome avian and herbivore meats for my city's doctors. So I'll still be here, supporting my hunting parties in the tiniest way imaginable, while everyone else does all the work and I sit in my broken camps making broken traps and whistling the Ranger theme song.

LOL... me too, buddy.. me too.
I made 120K Credits in 5 Hours. Not that 300K an hour like the solo hunters. But I sale the meat for 1 Million credits. So, where is the problem?

3 days ago I had a great Rancor-Hunting-Night. We started with 12 people and 5 pets and had big problems at the first lair. Most of the group leaved. Me and 3 others stayd, without any pet. We made for 5!!! hours Rancor-Missions without any problem anymore. I supported the TKM with my Whire Mash Trapp, the 2 others and me with the Glowire trap, I slowed the rancors in der move, i blinded them - it was just a super hunt. No one of us was a uber player. I had good trapps, other had good weapons or some medic skills.

The problem I see with that, is what in there couldn't you have done with just master scout ? The traps you used were all scout traps and you harvest plenty of meat from Rancors with just novice scout.
Ok I guess you were able to hit the Rancors with your traps more reliably, but I don't see anything there that really makes me want to master ranger (something I have to do because some stupid blue box told me to
Sorry, didn't want to bring you down with that, but I currently don't see the point of the Ranger profession, it seems to be the profession most ignored by the devs (odd that as I recall in EQ Rangers were one of the devs favourite professions), God help any wookiee rangers amongst you, you must be feeling really left out.
