Sorry, didn't want to bring you down with that, but I currently don't see the point of the Ranger profession, it seems to be the profession most ignored by the devs (odd that as I recall in EQ Rangers were one of the devs favourite professions), God help any wookiee rangers amongst you, you must be feeling really left out.

*rases hand*

I decided to drop down to 0440 in Ranger last night, and invest in some additional Rifleman skills. NOT to be uber, but to properly hunt, since Rangers do not get any kind of creature damage bonus. I can now conceal myself using /takeCover and use /concealShot to bring down big game. I couldn't do that before, and I feel like a proper Ranger now.

But at least I only dropped Wayfaring and Advanced Trapping - I still have TONS of XP from hunting for months and can easily go back to Master Ranger, should SOE decide to show us some love.

Doh, darn lack of an edit button! I meant to raise my hand, not "rase" it =)

You should be able to master rifleman and master ranger shouldn't you ?

I personally feel that rangers should be masters of camouflage and so should work with the rifleman profession particularly well (have a look at my post in the /conceal thread further down if you like, it's a bit long winded, but I wouldn't mind some feedback on it).

.. and watch your caps btw, you might find that the next time you use a trap you suddenly lose 200k trapping xp, happened with my carbine xp.

Oh I got cought with that one, healed a chap last night after dropping some medical skills and got a message telling me that I had lost a little over 400k of medical experience. Quite a shock I can tell you...!

I wish I had let him die now :-)

This is why I like melee professions - no ranged support eating into my skill points

Master Doc/Master Heavy Swordsman still leaves enough points over for novice scout/novice artisan so I can harvest my own resources.

Yes, but I'm also a Master CH =)

Yeah but trapping and scouting XP are so easy to come by anyway. I'm just refusing to drop Frontiering - I don't ever want to go through that again *shiver*

We think we might have a cunning way to get that survival xp, we'll let you know how it goes (it's not an exploit, just a smart way to max survival xp on each camp and kill a few birds with one stone).

If you really want to, but much better off getting some medic skills as well, particularly if you hunt solo a lot.

Don't look at me, I'm one of those blasted infernal grinders, ranger could be a cool class if it was less broken (or actually did anything), but right now it's just another obstacle to be overcome.

Soon as I'm done I'm going back to master doc/master heavy swordsman as soon as I can.

hehe, he might be. However, I heard after YEARS of plees to fix it they finally did. I get the *odd* feeling that after that experience they want to carbon-copy it from EQ, which isn't going ot work...

yes, and have points left over to have 19 pet levels if you want some CH. Or you can do up to Ranged Support 3 in Marskman. You could also pick 3 boxes in pistol or carbine in marksman. You might also try a tiny bit of med, all depends on how you want to play it.
