Brekkee - *Reek* The Y8 mining ship is simply not effective at all as a mining vessel. Are there any plans to improve it?

Darth_Platypus - I think you'll agree that two more turret emplacements on the front of the ship will make it a more formidable mining vessel...

Well, nothing to address the big bugs of the vessel. But 2 more forward mounted lasers would be great. Fit them with tractor beams (assuming they fix that bug) and you would have a quite nice mining ship!

Is it just me or should it be the Decimator, Yt-1300 and Nova that are "formidable" rather than the mining ship? I'd rather see the extra turrets on them.


After all, the 3 original MP ships are combat vessels, the Y-8 (while needing fixed) is just a mining ship.

Not more turrets on them, this won't fix the basic problem. Just calculate the minimum crew of 3 men (1 pilot, 2 gunners), they alltogether have 2 guns at hand. While those guns can be lv. 10, a krayt with 3 guns easily outguns each of those turrets. If you have the choice about 1 YT-1300 with 2 lv. 10 guns or 3 krayts with a total of 9 guns (lv. 8 is possible), the krayts win in firepower, have a higher total in shield and armour capacity and have superior flexibiltiy. (If you have one in your sights, the other two can be on your six. The YT-1300 in your sights won't be able to do that...)


If you add more turrets, the ratio of personel to firepower doesn't improve a lot, if you calculate total shield and armour capacity, it even gets worse. The solution is otherwhise, allow two lv. 10 guns to be mounted into each turret. Thus suddenly the multiplayer-ship would have more firepower than the singleplayer-ship, making it a much more valuable asset.

Nah, you'll just miss twice as often, and still get blown to pieces in two shots. Two shots that are easy to land because of the size of the ship.


POB ships need WAY more shields and armor (I'm talking like 10x or more) and would benefit greatly from gyro-stabalized turrets (so when ship turns, turret doesn't turn until it hits its bounds).

it would be great only if that ship cannot be of use in a pvp standing. i mean... do you imagine what a good crew of targetting turret and repairing artisants can do in deep space or kessel sector? with an all well equiped Y-8 with good POB reactor engines shields and.... POB canons on each turret?


wahooo! would be a nice pvp MP ship wouldn't it?

Agree on the need for more shields and armour, and the need for decent firepower in the turrets, but remember these are multi player ships, and as such are supposed to have a big crew. If you got 4 turrets on them top, bottom and sides, you have more incentive, as pilot, to fly straight and level, sinceyour arcs are all covered.


In addressing the original point,2 turrets on top of the original2 and the pilot gunmake the Y-8 more combat worthy than the Deci, YTor Nova. Combat isn't the Y-8sjob, but i'd consider loading up and going for a fight in that rather than take my Deci if it get 2 more turrets.

The Y8 would still have huge blind spots ... but then when you're flying it at the enemy and your pilot and 3 gunners are firing forward ... it could do some decent damage.


I'd like to see Nova's and decimator's with extra guns to give them an all over better coverage andto make them feel like proper gunships. I understand what you mean aboutproportional damage. so perhaps place a nose turret in the operators hands? and a tail turret as an extra person slot.

It's not a very good one, as it currently stands. Until you can either mount a tractor beam alongside each gun, you have a choice of which to use in either turret. Since none of the guns covers the same arc as another, it's not as effective a mining vessel as a ship like the Rihkxyrk. Something needs to be done.

Nova, Decimator and YT have 4 gun barrels on every turret. Let us place 4 level 10s on each side and POB capacitor to run the show. With weapon overload 3 my nova will slice through star destroyers.
