I would like to see Y-wings and Z-95s added to the Privateer ship selection. Why? Because historically these truely are neutral ships. Especially the Z-95 which is really only used by the Rebellion for training and covert opps when they want to look like Pirates or something. I'm not suggesting that they be removed from the Rebel list at all but I think it would be more true to the established EU if they were considered Rebel/Neutral ships. It would also re-enforce the idea that Rebels are more rag tag and that some of their equipment is outdated. The X-wing really was the first starfighter built for the Rebellion. The A-wing and B-wing are definatly Alliance ships but Ys and Zs are just used by the Alliance. It would also give the Privateers a low level two seater option. I don't see how this could hurt the game at all. Privateers are from the Private sector and thus should have a slightly wider range of ships to chose from. When you join a military you are issued a ship or at the very least expected to fly a certain type of ship. Neither Ys or Zs are high end ships at all so it's not all that game breaking and would be more true to the setting.

If my privateer getsmore ship certs, I certainly hope they aren't wasted on those two ships. While it might be historically correct, those two low-end ships wouldn't do anything to help the privateers at all.

Agreed. They should stay exclusive to Rebels, for the sake of the game.

First off, I fully agree that Privateer is short at least one Ship Certification. And I agree that the Z-95 would be a waste of time (you'd be getting another Syck, but a gimped one). That all being said, I think you are underestimating the Longprobe as a multi-role craft. On the other hand, don't know which role Privateer lacks the most, because I am least familiar with its ships. What would you say you are lacking, from an endgame-capable perspective (keeping in mind that I view the Y-Wing Longprobe as endgame-capable)?

It is end-game capable. The Privateers have a Ywing in the form of the Rihk, only it is more maneuverable, and has one extra gun hard point.

If you want the game to be more accurate you'd also have to remove shields and hyperdrives from:
- TIE-Fighters.
- TIE-Bombers.
- TIE-Interceptors.
None of these had the above mentioned equipment.
Like in the movies and the SW flightsim games (which had WAY better controls and which was more funthan JTL currently is)that LucasArts made, each side (Imperial & Rebel) have ups and downs about their ships. I'll list them:
Imperial starfighters
Pros: Great manueverability and firepower.
Cons: No shields or hyperdrive.
Rebel starfighters
Pros: Shields and hyperdrive.
Cons: Lesser manueverability and firepower.
The only Imperial fighters that had shields and hyperdrives in the current SWG storyline are TIE-Advanced, i.e. Darth Vader's craft and TIE Assault Gunboats (basically Imperial Shuttles with an attitude).

Great post.
Great ideas and they aren't tough to program.
Also, to expand on your idea, it would be cool if there was a way that a certain skill or profession would allow you to purchase whatever chassis you wanted.
ie, A Rebel spy could buy a Tie and fly with the Imps.
The Rebels stole an Imperial shuttle in ROTJ don't forget.
Maybe it could be a limited use chassis.

I agree, but i also belive that the yt-1300 should be added to the Rebellion. Maybe instead of the nova or in addition to. I mean althogh in the Movies Han was a Smuggler, really, his faith laid in the alliance, b/c pretty much thru them, he helped them combat the empre.
That's Just my 2 Cents

Well, yes and no. He was neutral long before he became a rebel. Remeber what he said to Luke at first? "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." Then, he was somewhat "forced" into being a Rebel by his two "cargo", Luke and Obi Wansimply being there, as the Imperials then recognized him as such before he even did.
Then, once he joined the rebellion, only the Millenium Falcon was used, not YT-1300's in general. The Rebel Alliance never contracted to use YT-1300's as battle vehicles or transports.

I really don't think ship certifications should be shared. I mean, each class should have its own ships, not a mixture. Why would you take a certain class then if you'd just be able to share the same ships another class gets?

He just declared rebel at a rebel space station, like any smuggler alliance privateer can do.
