Thread: Y-wings and Z-95s Not just for Rebels.

I'm just saying that it would be nice to have the game be more like Star Wars. Ys and Zs are not the only changes I'd like to see made to the Privateer. Why do you guys only think in terms of high end content and combat prowess? Would it be so bad if this game followed the Star Wars story line a bit more closely?

I'll repeat what I said above: They should stay exclusive to Rebels, for the sake of the game.

Besides, the content that should be added is Black Sun fighters.

Explain to me how it would hurt the game. I'm dense.

First off, it would "mush" together the different factions a bit more. But the REAL way it would hurt the game is that you would likely get Z-95s and Y-Wings INSTEAD of your own Master Ship. And that, you must admit, would suck.

Simply because each faction needs it's own exclusive rewards. There needs to be the incentive to pick a faction according to what you desire most, or people simply will not make the decision.

The whole rebel line of ships save the B-Wing should be added to the privateer. Z-95 HeadHunter was considered an old star fighters that mercenaries used back when TIE FIGHTER came out for Windows 95. I say let the privateers have access to every rebel ship except the b-wing thats Akbar's baby and non-rebs can't have it. The thing that would keep the two classes different would be the pilot skills the two trees teach (shields, pirate trap, ect.).

Great post.

Great ideas and they aren't tough to program.

Also, to expand on your idea, it would be cool if there was a way that a certain skill or profession would allow you to purchase whatever chassis you wanted.

ie, A Rebel spy could buy a Tie and fly with the Imps.

The Rebels stole an Imperial shuttle in ROTJ don't forget.

Maybe it could be a limited use chassis.

i dont think nutral should get the rebel ships cause as far as i can see the rebels have 1 less ship than the nutrals and the imp's so if any1 should get a ship it should be the rebels and putting rebel ships into the nutral tree would suck cause you would have nutrals flying round in the rebel ships using the rebel programed chip's yes the chips are tradable after being programed so a rebel can use the imp droid comands so were would there be a great diferance?

I think there should be a way for master pilots to earn different ship certifications, maybee by doing some rediculously hard quest or something. pluss, it would give master pilots somthing to do after they reach master besides PvP. Im almost master freelance, but it would be really awsome to be able to somehow earn a xwing or ywing certification so i could fly with my guild mates and rebel friends. This could go for all factions, freelance could earn there X and y wing cert and be part of the alliance, or earn the imp ships and join the empire, or rebs and imps could earn there YT1300 cert. They certifications should not be given, they should be earned, maybee by flying a mission that requires capturing the ship you seek the skills for.

If my privateer gets more ship certs, I certainly hope they aren't wasted on those two ships. While it might be historically correct, those two low-end ships wouldn't do anything to help the privateers at all.

First off, I fully agree that Privateer is short at least one Ship Certification. And I agree that the Z-95 would be a waste of time (you'd be getting another Syck, but a gimped one). That all being said, I think you are underestimating the Longprobe as a multi-role craft. On the other hand, don't know which role Privateer lacks the most, because I am least familiar with its ships. What would you say you are lacking, from an endgame-capable perspective (keeping in mind that I view the Y-Wing Longprobe as endgame-capable)?

Heavy Bomber
Light Bomber
Heavy Fighter
Light Fighter

It is end-game capable. The Privateers have a Ywing in the form of the Rihk, only it is more maneuverable, and has one extra gun hard point.

Hmm, okay. So where do you think you are the weakest in your endgame-capable ships? Since you have a Y-Wing analog, that is? Medium Fighter? Light Fighter? I know the Imperials don't really seem to have a B-Wing analog (I find the Oppressor to be about on par with the Y-Wing Longprobe) and seem to get along fine. I am not challenging you, I really just do want to know. I absolutely think it's unfair that Privateer earns no starfighter at Master level, but would like to know what you lack the most.

What we lack, I think, is an Awing/Interceptor type fighter. The Kihraxz doesn't come close, and it's the fastest/most maneuverableship we can get.

the dunelizard is our interceptor. its just a lil' less fast and manuverable(sp*) as the awing or TIE-interceptor/advanced bit it can hold a lot more (thank you devs for the mass changes:smileyhappy atm, from the stats i've read, the empireis (in my opinion) on the weak side of the spectrum as far as ships go. the onlything that privateer is gettin screwed in is that we don't get a master cert fighter.

Pfft I dont want either of those. give me a Unique 2 person Privateer ship and give us back out Firespray for Privateers only or a good replacement for it and I am happy
