i dont understand how this effects you. i dont think you should use the forums . this is JTL forums. i will make it even clearer for you and finger paint you this picture. It has nothing to do with WoW. you show no support for JTL nor do you bring any valid points to the actual game. your comparisons are morbid and you should have just not used forum space for such a cryptic bitterness or whatever issue you have.

thanks.

??? What bitterness ? Im simply asking a valid question or two. One... when is JTL gonna launch. Two, has anyone noticed friends leaving ? These are JTL questions, not sure why this wouldnt belong here.

Also, how is bringing up other games NOT showing support for JTL ? I dont choose to live in denial like you obviously do. If you think mass exodus of players quitting or JTL not releasing on-time wont effect you then you're the one who needs finger painting lessons

No thanks.

This one is easy. First, alot of ppl that were in my guild have taken a break for one of two reasons, one, they are waiting for JTL, or TWO, they are in BETA testing JTL.

Alot of people I knew got sick of the JEdi system (Jedi and combat mess up I blame for alot of quiters).

Another note, I've been involved with this before and seen games go gold just DAYS before scheduled release and STILL make it on time. Right now all the boxes, manuals, ect are all printed and ready to package. The CDs can be stamped out incredibly fast when they start, plus any updates could be downloaded instead.

This is a guess, but they may already have the CDs being pressed and are just expecting ppl to download patches to cover any recent changes. I've noticed alot of downloads coming in recently.

And finally, I think the date is Oct 29, plenty of time for it to still go gold, I haven't seen any official word on delays. And if it IS delayed, that would mean a BETTER PRODUCT when it is released.

BTW, personally I would celebrate the departure of alot of old timers. Too many kids running around screaming, "pwned" that it makes me puke, Jedi crawling like roaches in starports, TKM is the Uber non Jedi fighting class. PVP stinks and yet TKM and JEdi run around overt calling everyone cowards because they don't want to fight, but would rather finish a fun mission or finish crafting some items or whatever.

While I agree that immature players leaving might seem like a good thing, I must disagree. We need the population to stay the same, not decrease. With less players (even if they are jerks), means less items being crafted, less combat types buying those items, less loot being offered up for sale, less hides being harvested, less minerals being mined, heck it means less of everything.

Large population drops tend to start a snowball effect, trust me on this.. I played Horizons for almost a year and watched it happen.

First it starts slowly, then others start to notice. Some are effected because nobody is around to play, hunt with and they quit too. Then crafters see their goods not selling and guildmates quitting so they quit too. The hardcore combat types see no crafted goods to buy and no guildmates to hunt with and they quit... etc etc etc. Next thing ya know, you're the only guy left from your guild looking for someone to group with that day. Nowadays, Horizons is such a pathetic game to play cause the populations are gone. I've gone 5 days before I even saw one person in a large town or had a guildmate log in.

Context-wise the SWG is the best ever game for me. EQ2/WoW/etc have nothing. Some people actually enjoy the Star wars theme. No, I never was a SW freak. It's just that fantasy setting never appealed to me. I'm sure I'm not the only one. So, even if EQ2 maybe is technologically better, I'll stick to this. The only thing to move me there would be the cancellation of SWG.

I've also noticed the decline in players, but that may just be getting a break in before JTLS is released, as I'll admit I've takena breaks for 3-4 weeks, every-so often as this game is great fun does take up criminal amounts of time, and can become very frustrating at times, and Ido have a life outside of Galaxies.

But I think with JTLS you'll see an influx of new players, gamers, who may not really be initially beinterested in the RPG turn based stylings of the ground game but see great appeal in the whats essentially aglorified update of X-wingVs. Tie Fighter with 100s of ships duking it out, who'll eventually find there way to thegroundand start playing there, which should balance out the game.

But IfI was to say a cause in low players, other than the fact that SWG is surrounded by 5 other MMOs (EQ2, WoW, SoR, Linega, and theres another one which name eludes me - something I'm positive that Everquest 1 never had to deal with)I would say itsthere are too many servers out with fewer players spread out over them. And the obvious solution iswith fewer servers would concentate the gamers, but as reducing the amount of servers isnt gonna happen I'll stopthing about it.

I was curious what people here think of JTL's chances of success come Nov. 15th. Unless you're asleep for the past year, you're well aware that 2 very highly anticipated games are releasing that day. I'm sure SOE is quite aware of it as they announced a free 10 day trial for ex-customers. Everyone knows once someone starts a game they're usually hooked for a while so Im guessing SOE is trying to stop that.

By the way, when is JTL suposed to launch ? I heard end of October a long time ago. The end of Oct. is only 14 days away so thats not possible now. A game usuallymakes it to the stores shelves roughly 14 days after it goes gold. So unless JTL goes gold in two weeks, it wont beat the launch of WoW or EQ2.

Maybe its me, but I've received quite a few e-mails from old friends lately announcing they're quitting. Also server has felt quite empty lately. I'm wondering if a mass exodus is occuring as players might be quitting to avoid a double charge for November (swg + WoW or EQ2). Anyone else notice this ? I had two friends quit today (brothers) after they told me how fun EQ2 beta was (nda is over so they can talk) and that their guild from SWG is all quitting to move over to EQ2. A whole freaking guild is quitting to play EQ2 !?! Anyone else hear of such a thing ?

Ultimately, SWG has weathered two major mmorpg releases in the past but definitely lost subscribers. FF11 took a few. CoH definitely got more. I ran into literally hundreds of ex swg players over. I'm finding myself worried though about Nov. 15th. I dont see how SWG will NOT lose half its player base to these two games. Several polls taken by other game sites show large interest in WoW from swg players bitter about SOE's treatment. While others show even loyal SOE fans eager to dump this game for EQ2. Either way, its a lose/lose scenario for SWG.

Comments anyone ?

Well i played Warcraft 3 and Frozen throne and like them alot but WoW differs from Warcraft in Warcraft you control characters in a story in WoW you are the character doesn't interest me in fact i was not even remotely interested in MMORPG's in general till SWG came out and even then i was still not sure about playing a game that costs money every month. But then i had a friend who raved about it and i broke down and got it and i haven't regretted it since. I really have no interest in playing any other MMORPG since the main reason i'm here is Because it's Star Wars. I think people will stay because it's SW and I think more will come because of JTL. Keeping them customers (old+ new) is something else entirely and is something SOE really needs to focus on in the coming months. keep people in general happy and you shouldn't have a problem. As the old saying goes " you can't please everyone all the time"

I've found the #1 thing that rejuvenates the fun in this game is to read the Special Edition Concept Art book with the "Character Selection Screen Music going on in the background. Everytime I read it I look at someof the planets and go: "Man, I've never even been on that planet, much less gone to that specific location!" Which then gives me the feel of logging back on to grind DE to be able to afford travel tickets to that place, only when JTL comes out I might have to find something else. Also, I'm not worried about SWG losing it all on Nov. 15th, I think that by then we'll all be thinking of how close we are to Combat Rebalance, and if rumors are true, we'll know what the next expansion is. (Remember that GarVa squashed the SOE losing the contract part of the rumor, not the next expansion announcement part.)

After several years of EQ, I've had my fill of the whole swords, sorcery, elves, and orcs thing. In my mind, WoW, and EQ2 are just the same old game with updated graphics. It's kind of like Frogger. The orginal looked horrid but provided millions with years of quarter tossing fun, when it was re-released for the PC in glorious 3D it looked infinately better then the original, but I had grown sick of the hop and avoid gameplay years before.

If I wanted a prettier, newer EQ type game, I'd already be playing Lineage2. But, impressive graphics fade into the background after the first 10 minutes, and then I need some fun new gameplay to keep my interest.

That's where JTL comes in. It's a real mix of turn based and twitch based gameplay in a MMO. Two games linked into one. Tired of one, play the other - and vice versa. I can't wait for JTL. None of the other new MMO's offer what SWG+JTL does, they just offer a prettier version of what EQ offered 5 years ago.

On general marketing. JTL is based off one of the most succesful star wars game series ever(X-Wing/TIE series). That will bring a lot of players. Twich play itself will bring a lot of new players. Later, you are going to have the release of Episode 3, which will bring a lot of people to Star Wars games. I don't think SoE has to worry. EQ2, and WoW will attract their fair share of hardcore MMO fans for sure. JTL will bring a ton of new people to their first MMO.

It's like one side consists of half a dozen products fighting over pieces of the same pie, while SWG+JTL not only takes it's share of that pie but creates a entirly new pie that it can have all to itself.
