What is StarWars without: Cut Scenes!

What is StarWars without: Flying starships Interplanetary! (actually landing and taking off from the ground/spaceport)

What is StarWars without: Actually FLYING into space! (opposed to watching aloading bar with some lame pictures, etc)

What is StarWars without: Ambiant sounds e.g. while in an open field (ambiant/environmental/consistant insect noises and animal noises : buzzing of wings and peeping of frogs, and weird calls of unknown and known animals)

What is StarWars without: PVP usuable faction armor!

What is StarWars without: Spoken Languages (instead of Mon Calamarian text (gibberish) turning into English text... too much left to the imagination I want to actually hear [optional] what the language sounds like)

What is StarWars without: Seasons? (yay its summer all the time... -_-)

What is StarWars without: children? woo hoo! everyone is an adult.......... (how ironic)

What is StarWars without: Actually working Bio options (like married, origion, race, etc. It cant be that complicated or moot. support role playing!)

What is StarWars without: colored weapons? (more scopes/extras that dont do anything butat for looks?)

What is StarWars without: Hoth? Courasant? etc.. (o_0)

lol, creative even, disapointing though.

I'm not sure you are asking the right questions foozy... The question shouldnt be whats the difference between a game and life it should be whats the difference between a game that is attempting to create a life-like galaxy (Nevermind a world or city or town or cave!) and a simple game like tetris?

My point is: The game is half done (still) and they are adding more. Although, My and Your priorities will, most likely, ALWAYS differ from that of the people who actually have controllof what is produced and what isnt.

Still starwarsanyway you slice it, bad or good.Fair point, but I was thinking more along the lines of another facet for roleplay or storyline. Nevermind the vision of the original creators of those movies you mentioned. We(mmoRPG community) can create better. I am not saying all of my points are full proof or justified just thoughts/opinions. Think outside the box.

all that stuff is going to give us all one huge lag, it might be nice but not all connections (especially not 56k) can handle such graphics. and if you still want this just think about all the crashes before you actually get into space (if alot of people go into space you deffinetly going to crash)

I had a Wookie in between.

Your transmission is being interferred by a huge ton of bugged data due to a suddenly high-data-load. Please wait some months until Devs can implement a whole new features.

I will try to be as constructive as possible in answer to this although I know this thread is likely to be repeated all over the forum boards in one form or another:

Cutscenes: can't see this as being "Star Wars". It's a persistent world and cut scenes would just interrupt game flow (like the do in Doom 3 whenever a new monster is introduced).

Flying starships interplanetary: this would imply the implementaton of atmospheric flight. Nice idea perhaps, but a nightmare to implement I should think.

Flying into space: is this not the same point? Loading screens are a necessary evil.

Ambient sounds: there are some ambient sounds and if it weren't for the fact that this is an online game, I'm sure there would be a lot more. What I can also suggest is this: go out into the desert and notice how quiet it is. Actually, go out into the countryside and notice how quiet it is. There is ambient noise, but you're not drowned in it.

PVP Factional armour: can't comment on this as I don't do PvP but it would actually be nice to see Rebs and Imps in appropriate gear when they slug it out.

Spoken Languages: great idea. But I imagine that the overheads in implementing this would make it quite a low priority and possibly unfeasible.

Seasons: not a very Star Wars thing. Notice how all the planets have exactly the same climate? A desert world, a forest moon, an ice world? Changes in season don't really seem to happen in Star Wars - if you want to go skiing, you just go to a different planet.

Bio-options: agree - I would like to see this implemented. Then again, I'd like to see more people roleplaying and responding to roleplayers rather than trying to kill as much as possible. There'd be a huge difference to the game if people role-played it rather than just played it.

More coloured weapons: Erm... do you mean having a pink carbine or a blue pistol?

Hoth? Coruscant? There is a thread elsewhere about the pros and cons of adding Hoth. Personally I'm against it. It would be dull. Remember Han Solo's comment? "There isn't enough life on this rock to fill a space cruiser" There'd be very little to do. As for Coruscant - I don't miss it. And it would be silly to see rebel factions on the one planet in the galaxy that they just wouldn't be - the Imperial capital. But more planets - why not? Malastare, Korriban, Nar Shadaa, Kashyyyk, Calamari Prime, Kessel - there's lots of choice. Or you could add more content to existing planets. But to say it's not Star Wars when you've got Tatooine, Endor and Yavin is a bit, well, picky.

At the end of the day, it's a game and you can be a bit picky about what makes it Star Wars and what doesn't. Take any of the games so far and you can easily say there a bits in it that don't feel Star Wars to you. SWG does feel Star Wars to me and JTLS will hopefully make it more so.

To me, the biggest factor in reducing the Star Wars feel in SWG is not the content, but the players who give themselves names like "NoobieKiller" and "Elvis Presley" and who chat about WoW or HL2 in spatial in the middle of Mos Eisley. But then, I can't expect everyone to want to get the same out of the game as I do, can I?

Yeah, I got that. I don't mind not having children in the game (as NPCs, I mean) and I notice they have reduced the numbers of NPCs hanging around anyway to resolve some of the issues with artisan/delivery quests and NPCS huddling together as if they were in an anti-war rally.

Put me down for a Pink Carbine teeheehee.

*ahem* Seriously now, *adjusts jedi bathrobe*

When in cities, I find the background noises quite satisfying. Actually, most places sound great if you have the right sound setup. Running a digital 5.1 Doldy surround setup I can hear every ship overheard, ambient voices, the hum of the terminals and mining installations etc. Some places in the wild do have birds, crickets etcetc. Nothing like jumping out of my chair at night when im headed to SC mall on Corellia (Naritus) and having that gubber or whatever it is bark out of one of the rear speakers and scaring the bejeebes out of me.

I have noticed as of late, many more varied types of NPCs. Naboo Police talking to Criminals, spacers, etc etc

As for the children, well, just get into PvP and TEF someone or lose to them in public. You will see the children allright. Along with theyre own factional speach. *d00d! I pwned y0r @zz!!* *i am teh uber!* etc etc.

Factional armor should be the most hardcore in the game!! Nothing would make people wear stormie armor or marine suits like great resists on them and nerfed comp.

Cutscenes to fill in over loading screens would be nice and should introduce very little lag. A generic angle for every starport with your ship lifting up, making a graceful turn and heading for the staars shouldnt be too hard to integrate.

All in all, a bit more immersion could be added. But if they did this, you would just hear more whining about fixing the core game first. Perhaps one day, when the whole world is on high speed and the average PC is pushing 2.5Ghz with 1.5GB of Ram being the norm.
