Thread: I'm confused...
I'm new to the BH profession, and am not understanding something. I'm hoping a more seasoned hunter can catch me up...
The whole reason knockdown was so important to us was that our marks were able to kill us in one to two shots, right? By knocking them down, you keep them from killing you so fast.
Considering they're making our marks easier to kill, and not able to kill us in one shot, why is it class breaking that they're adding a timer to knockdown?
I don't mean to flame or challange the opinion of people more experienced in the profession... I just don't see where it's breaking us again ![]()
I guess newbies to the profession don't count here...
I'll move along so I don't interrupt the uber crowd.
It's not class breaking. It's a shift in what people do.
Some view it as it is, others view it as a challenge and most will adapt and overcome. Best that you form your opinion on it yourself. If you were to take what people said on these forums as the truth, I highly doubt you would still play this game ![]()
When you fight your 1st marks you'll understand better what Knock does for us. Our marks are pretty close to the mega monsters on the advanced worlds. They can kill you in 2 - 3 to shoots. With Knockdown you can keep the mark from being able to incap you before you finish him off.
I am a more advanced hunter my skills 0-3-4-0 so I have 2 KD attacks and I'll cycle them between other attacks. As a new hunter you'll only have 1 and your KD will give you 10 sec of freedom after you use it to pound on your mark a mark that will then have about 20 second to retaliate. Twenty seconds before you'll be able to Knock him down again. This is not going to fun. Now I do not want my life as a hunter to be boring. I like the fact that the things I hunt and easily kill me if I'm not on the ball. Watering down marks to plicate us for the gutting of our class make me angry. Leave us alone and let us get on with business of Hunting or make the change PvP only and leave us and our marks alone in PvE.
Dont break out of here Meyree, your a welcome addition to the community.
Knockdown, in its original form, was ripe for abuse. You could sit there, all day long spamming underhand and hitting for 1000+ frequently. Since then, its been balanced, with the ham cost going up and the damage going down, making it a lot less 'uber' and dominant. Still vitaly useful, but not the only button on your toolbar that you would press in any fight.People on the boards will react negatively to anything they consider a nerf to their class, and thats just how it is. The 30 second timer is certainly going to effect how well us Bounty Hunters can solo red conning mobs, which may be a good thing. I fight deep red cons exclusively, and sometimes think it shouldnt be so. But Im in agreement with you, I think if they make the marks less godlike, and make it so knockdown isnt the sole controller of the flow of a fight, I stil see myself having a jolly good time tracking marks.
And Maulstrym is right. If everything people said was true, I would never be able to kill a mark, and I would incapacitate and deathblow myself everytime I pulled out my carbine ![]()
Take it easy
Yea, the game is just being balenced
The only people i noticed who really hate this are dabblers, i dont know why, but for some reason...
Im very happy myself about the upcoming changes, and so are many other people welcome to the profession
Even if a 30 second timer were to be put on my PVE mark It wouldnt bother me.
I use confussion shot followed by a knockdown shot then blast them to death from 7m to with my scatter pistol using torso shots for 1000- 1600 a shot.
90 percent of all my marks die flat on their backs without ever getting back up .
Some get lucky and get up take a step or two and fall down again only to die.
Now if they reduce the HAM's of the marks nothing changes for me.
They die faster is all.
Well, I just became a BH last night...finally. I plan on mastering it, not dabbling in it. I think I changed my opinion about 20 times today, but here it is at this point. The game needs to be balanced for PvE and PvP both. MakingKD cost more ham did nothing to alleviate the spamming, with everyone using Tat Sunburn and other buffs. Therefore, a timer needed to be implemented. I know it sucks, but it may be the only way to make it "fair".
They adjusted our mark difficulty to accomodate the nerf, so it shouldn't be a problem doing missions, but if it is, expect another "adjustment" from the devs. Think about it a minute anyway. Why would a mark always be supremely badass. Sometimes, someone is just a **edit** and someone wants him/her dead. It doesn't make sence to have EVERY mark a badass, but it was made that way because they wanted to make BH fights tough and interesting. Hopefully, they balanced mob difficulty just right so that with the KD nerf, they are still relatively the same difficulty.
In truth, I think some BHs liked that they could use this line ....."Don't nerf KD cause then we can't kill our Ubertough marks!! Waaaaaa! " as a cover because they liked to spam KDin PvP. Making the timer and reducing the difficulty of the mark accomplishes, in theory, 2 things. It balances KD in PvP and it "supposedly" keeps the challenge the same in our BH missions. I guess time will tell.
All this being said..........Class balancing was supposed to be done in BETA 3...........
right, and BH knockdowns arnt even that bad *cough, pistoleer, cough*. Knockdown is really used as an opening attack, then a few damage moves are used, then a knockdown is used again. It works very well on mobs, (you can use supression fire on most non-humanoid mobs and not get hit) and you can run around if you miss with the KD shot. The problem is that since our marks our humanoid, all stragities we use agenst them can be used in PvP. i wouldnt mind a timer, just as long as it isnt more than say 15 seconds at max.
Thank y'all kindly 8)
I've taken 2 bounty missions so far. The second lead to a white name NPC. During the first, I pulled my faction pets out, and gave them the stay command a short distance away for safety. I got hit one time by my mark before I used burst run to get behind my troops.
So I understand how it was needed before. I guess the question now is whether it's better to have overpowered marks, and ways to overcome that, or even powered marks.
Personally, I think the BH knockdown ought to have an advantage over the others. Well, at least our second one should.
Then again, I'm also part of the mass confusion thinking that BHs were supposed to be up there with commandos as the one shot combat class end all be all.
