Over the time that I've been in SWG, it seems that loot has continually been nerfed/made more crappy. I used to get loot drops on a regular basis, even if it was junk. Now it seems that all I get is crappy armor and boosters. Are the devs just trying to bore us out of space? I haven't looted an engine speeding over 67 for at least two months. Apparently, this may have been a reply to shipwrights angry about loot better than crafted parts. As a shipwright myself, they should've just improved the schematics and moved on. Instead, it now seems impossible to get any good component, aside from the occasional good level 6 capacitor.
Last time I visited Kessel for hunting, I got over 10 boosters and armors, but no other parts. Do the devs have a love affair with boosters?!?!?!?!? They aren't even good boosters! As a rebel ace, I'll take any improvement that I can get. This is why space is a DEAD ZONE!!!!! It's no longer worth it to hunt out fighters. They only drop crappy boosters. Bring back the old loot system; I no longer care if it hurts my business.

I have to agree completely. I have been flying in space for months and rarely have I found anything worth keeping EXCEPT "armor and boosters!!!" The engines, weapons, shields, capacitors, and droid interfaces that I loot from my kills are completely pathetic and utterly useless to a MASTER FREELANCE PILOT where the right parts mean the difference. I just flow what I find into my guild's loot house to be either reversed or used by a noob pilot. When are the devs going to introduce new and more useful loot for the pilots of JTL to scramble and drool over; when are we going to get parts other than the usually crap we are being fed day in and day out???!!!

The shipwright profession has been screwed over. A few weeks ago, I decided to check the extent of this. I crafted a Mark 5 capacitor with a mark 5 recharge upgrade with crafting grade materials and spend all Experimenting points on recharge rate. The final product was crappy 27!!! Ecomony is driven by supply and demand. The devs created a huge demand by eliminating all good loot. They failed to create a supply!!! The old 92 reward engines sell for over 2.5 million on Eclipse server. Is that demand or what?!?!?!?
In comparison, I like ground combat just the way it is; it doesn't need an upgrade. JTL needsthe major overhaul. There is no way it could get any worse-----> I'd love to see them try.
A possible idea would be crazy space quests to obtain permanent schematics for parts that have extraordinary stats, like the 40K reactors.

Well I always thought the idea of looting complete and functional systems from DESTROYED craft was silly. Even moreso than being able to even carry that much mass by itself (as 'savlage' or raw materials or what not).
I always thought there was an opportunity for a "scavenger" type in a specialized freighter...

Yeah ive noticed the crazy percentage of armor and boosters that drop for space loot. its maddening. Its even worse because armor and boosters are the only 2 components you dont even really need to be effective in space. *rolls eyes*They have severely decreased quality space loot drops. Ive been fyling hardcore since jtl launched and there is a drastic decrease in space loot quality, which is a real shame being as its the only real thing for a master pilot to do.
You can still get quality loot drops but they are ultra rare.
The only fix they needed (and still need) to do is to make a Shipwrights experimentation have more of an effect on the final product that they create. Its a joke at the moment. the resources determine about 99% of the stats of a SW's items that he makes, which doesnt seem right somehow.

That's funny, good armour and boosters are the only thing I can't seem to find out there.

If you're on Eclipse, I'll trade you my boosters gallore for some goods weapons. Another irony I noticed is that the armor can actually be crafted to good levels by shipwright, and is dropped in excess. I don't understand why the devs wasted their time nerfing loot....

I run the largest space loot vendor on Starsider, and from my personal observations, the following nerfs have taken place...
1. Engine Speed Nerf - In addition to both the level 6 and level 8 quest reward engines being nerfed, all loot dropped engines also had their top speed nerfed.
2. Shield Mass Nerf - I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but all looted shields got a boost to mass at some point. The mass on looted shields used to parrallel the mass on looted weapons and reactors of the same level, however, the mass on looted shields is now higher by a noticable amount.
3. Capacitor Energy Nerf - At around the same time that the above shield nerf happened, a nerf to capacitor energy on loot drops happened. It used to be possible to find low and mid level caps with 1400+ energy. That doesn't appear to be the case anymore.
4. Droid Interface Nerf - Technically this was a fix, and not a nerf, but I'm listing it anyways, just to help out those who might be looking for pre-nerf parts. Low level Droid Interfaces use to be faster than high level Droid Interfaces. That is no longer the case.
There might have been some other smaller nerfs, but those are the big four that I can think of. Good weapons can still be looted, as can uber reactors. Also, don't be super quick to get rid of all your looted armor and boosters. I've been REing a lot of armor lately that is signficantly better than the best crafted, and level 4 and level 8 boosters with good stats are usefull for REing with the level 4 and level 8 quest reward boosters.

i'm sorry, i do agree drop rates have declined severly. but let's face it, shipwrights were getting screwed.
but, to go against your original post, i did loot a 79spd lvl6 engine tonight
fits nicely in my TIE bomber.
maybe, they should make it like the ground game, where you loot parts of ship components, and if you get all the pieces, you'll get an uber-part, that needs to be crafted by a shipwright?

In the subject of mass, that is why I still have my Nova; I use parts that are have been nerfed to a mass too high for anything else. It still runs like a piece of junk. The other day I looted the biggest joke: a level 8 reactor with 15K mass and 2K power. It's nearly inverse of the reactor on my A-wing. I use a Kuat custom LX something, level 2with 2K mass and 12K power, post-nerf. None of the parts in my A-wing are above level 7.
I also have a question for other veteran pilots: If I surrender pilot, will I get another reward engine for completing upper tiers over again?
I would also like to re-itterate an earlier point of mine. I actively think that the devs should bring back old loot AND make crafted parts on par with the loot stats. An awsome idea would be to let shipwrights disassemble looted components, permanently adding these stat upgrades to the shipwright's data pad. They should also let us craft even leveled parts besides ordnance. To say that loot gets the final word at level 10 is one BIG HUGE SPIT IN THE FACE to shipwrights. For example, if Idisassemble a level 6 capacitor with 45 for recharge, from then on, all level 6 capacitors that I build will automatically have a recharge rate starting at 45. That concept would inter-twine shipwrighting and looting to a great harmony. Loot would be awsome, but shipwrights could use it to their advantage and build parts guaranteed better than loot. What to you think of that?

That's your reward engine. It's not random loot.
oh.....well then your all right! LOOT SYSTEM SUCKS! lol
but i dont' understand one thing.....
I"m now 3333 imp pilot right? So i get the Interceptor (50kmass) and Bomber(189kmass) however, i can't even but good lvl6, not to mention lvl7, parts in my Interceptor!!! what's the point of getting access to parts you cant even use on the supposed equal level ship? I have to put any good parts in my bomber, which no matter how good the engine, will continue to fly like a boat!
and today I also learned about the oh so great loot in Kessle!
i got a lvl 5 booster that was on par with a lvl3 booster ![]()
