Both rebels and freelance get ships with three gun slots...one for your mining cannon, one for the tractor beam and one for a gun to use to defend yourself. The rebs get the Xwing and the freelance pilots get the Rihx, not to mention the krayt.
Imps get neither. In fact, the only ship we can use is the ARC-170 mining ship, which I see being more a pain in the rump than useful, at least while the crew learn how to work as a team.
First we get d%*ked on mass, then we get the toughest missions of the 3 factions...now we can't mine as effectively as the rebs/freelance?
Normally...this wouldn't bother me to much. If it followed SW canon, but it doesn't. The Empire is meant to be an almighty force...technicaly and numerically superior to any other force in existance at the time. Yet the rebs and freelance factions are more capable than we are? Freelance I can understand, to a degree...the millenium falcon is a good example. But the rebels? If the movies are anything to go by (and purists say that that is the true and only reliable source of information), the rebels are a ragtag band of hopefuls who are only managing to scrape together enough resources for the next mission, who are always on the run.
Is it possible to push for a three-gunned TIE variant? I certainly hope so.

see thats the point where you go wrong. the empire according to the stories does not supply their pilots with good equipment, they win through quantity not quality. in fact they give them some of the worst ships made, they are cheap,fast, lightly armed and armored. this is because the imperial navy has no concern for the lives of its pilots who are all, to the last man, 100% expendable.
you should actually be thankfull they the devs allow TIE fighters to acutally have shields as they aren't supposed to have them. Also, most TIEs don't have hyperdrives either as they are supposed to be launched from larger ships.
How did you get a mining laser?
When I logged in this morning to try it I couldn't make anything without space resources. Couldn't get space resources without a mining laser and cargo hold which require space resources.
Would u mind going over how u get space resources to make the mining equipment?

LOL, we'll give up shields and hyperdrives if we can have superior numbers and capital ships. Cause right now it's basically even. We don't get tons of wingmen, we have to pay same for our ships as u do for yours. No side really has an advantage to exploit. But the imperials have some disadvantages in their ships imo. The low mass on the Tie/In and Interceptor are a handicap in PvE but it's not as bad in PvP. Course Pvp isn't a major part of the game as of yet... was hopying that will change with this add on.

The mining starts of by doing a quest from a friendly fella called "Flash" something or other. He can be found in the Tree in the Kashyyyk city, who's name I keep forgetting.
He's on the first level...in the cantina type area on the left as you exit the passageway to the outside of the tree's 1st level.
But ya, i saw this 3 gun mount issue coming awhile ago. Switched back to privateer, just for that reason.(not to mention argo reasons. both rebs and imps are yellow to privateer, = less hassle while mining)
Finish the space mining missions and you'll get the three gunned Y-8. Not perfect, but better then nothing.

True, the oppressor is a nice ship...but for one who doesn't PvP much, it's somewhat of a limited advantage :/
The TIEs they commissoned from Sienar had no shields, no hyperdrive, poor blasters, and not even life support systems.
