Easy, shoot down a lot of Black Suns. Check inventory. No helmet yet? Rinse and repeat as neccessary. That's the only way.

Could someone tell me what is so great about these helmets? I keep hearing about them, but everyone naturally asumes that everyone else knows what they are talking about. I understand that people are fond of them, but why?

They just look cool, and are rare. That's pretty much all there is to them.
It's a wearable helmet like the free ones you get as a pilot. And, like those other helmets, it doesn't have any function byond looks.

I believe that they have to be Tier 4 Black Sun Aces....
And those, Ive seen like twice ever... :/

rebel? get a tier 4 duty from the arkon tier 4 trainer. imp? go to red sea chimera in endor, 3 usually spawn around there every 5 minutes 
.

ya i've hunted in Kessel for hours on end and never saw any black suns. so ya that is really not an option. only way i see it being obtained is the Neutral Duty Missions which i'm kicking myself over not doing them before i mastered cuz now i can't get thoughs types of duty missions unless i'm mistaken.
