It is currently placed above eng 4 like other crafting professions but it may change. the DEVs has stated this in one of the E3 question and answer sessions. i personally hope it stays above eng 4. it makes perfect since there.

Yeah, it is gonna be a zoo going into shipwright. I can't believe people are worried about ships being expensive. Basic parts and ships are going to be grinded (ground out?) by so many people they will be giving them away. Ships in the last 2 skill boxes and YT-1300s may be pricey, but everything else is gonna be cheap do to so much supply.
I also think the shipwrights will outpace pilots in what can be made vs what can be flown. Shipbuilding is grindable, piloting requires some quest based advancement.

And for all of those reasons above, I will remain an architect. Besides, with so many people leaving the current crafting professions to become shipwrights, perhaps the prices of architect stuff will increase (as the supply lessens).

no doubt, I see at least half of the current crafting professions taking on shipwright, and probably 70% of all architects will drop archfor shipwright.
I also think that a lot of crafters who do switch over, they may create new characters to become one of the new species to grind shipwright.

you know, if it went off master artisan, it would shut them up about being useless.
Yes I am a master artisan and no it's not useless

I remember reading somewhere (don't remember where), that architect, armorsmith andweaponsmith all play an important part in making ships. Will it be like that architects constructs the ship, the armorsmith makes some sort of protection and weaponsmith makes the weapons on the ships?
And one more question...What about Tailors?! Won't theybe a part in it?

Actually crafting professions are gonna become more inter-dependable, meaning shipwright will require parts from other professions.
If you've ever been a Droid Engineer you'll know how much a pain in the backside this can be.

if that were the case why have a shipwright profession if 3 current professions could build ships through the way you just described.
