It is definately a good idea to have all your chickens in one coop, which is the general philosophy behind this post. If all of our questions over the past week are compiled into one area, I know that the Dev's will have an easier time getting to them.

Questions for 6-9-04

1. Will Ship Wrights need to be Overt to craft factionally aligned ships in the upcoming JTL expansion? ( Janson )


2. How are factional ships going to be made?" ( Kachada )


3. Will shipwright be a natural continuation of the Master Artisan's vehicle schematics (MA being the prerequisite) or will it be treated as just another elite crafter profession off of the engineering IV line? ( SaleusCorwen )


4. Any plan in the works for additional Multiplayer ships like the YT-1300? Examples could include YT-2400 or YT-2000. ( 3D4D )


5. If Beta is ~August.... We're looking at ~October? ( DarthPierce )


6. Will there be radar/sensors in the ships as in X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter that show where other ships are, I have not seen it in any screenshots. ( dewolow )


7. When will you reveal the two new species? ( GenocideYtow )


8. Do you plan on adding a prediction code (as in Counter Strike) for space flight, to help people with a high ping (for example people from Australia or Europe playing on US servers) ? ( LeJediFou )

11. Do the x-wings have shields and missiles like in the movie, or just lasers? ( saber1 )


12. Do we non-Fan Fest but Day One (two) vets have to apply for beta, or will we simply be chosen and be informed with no active effort on our part? And if there is an application process, what is it? ( bugonguitar )

18. Will we be able to pull our droids and have them run around on the YT-1300 deck while in flight? ( ZuppZ )


19. In a recent interview it was mentioned that taking off and landing ships won’t be completely automatic but will require some effort on the part of the player. So my question is: Can you clarify what was meant by this or give us any details on how this Take Off/Landing minigame will work? ( Sifer2 )


20. Will there be any non-combat related space activities, such as, for example, trading/courier missions or exploration missions? Are there any plans to expand JtL to include merchants or prospectors or any other play styles apart from 'combat monster'? ( Dynonychus )


21. Will all types of healing work in multi-passenger ships? (i.e. medic / ent healing etc.) ( LeBob )


22. Will Mon Calamari characters gain a bonus to ship assembly/experimentation? (MonroeThanes )


23. Will one of the new races have blue skin, red eyes, and black hair? Hehe I’ve really got my fingers crossed for Chiss(MonroeThanes )


24. Any plan to add Youzhan Vong (New Jedi Order) as a high level NPC mob in a future dungeon or quest in space? Would be fun to explore a Vong forward recon team or something like that. The biological ships and interiors would be a welcomed and nice change of pace from caves and metal walls, would really let the art team have some fun (or headaches hehe) (MonroeThanes )


25. Will new content/mobs/equipment/etc be added with the release of Episode 3? (MonroeThanes )


26. Any word on a future monthly stories? (MonroeThanes )


27. What's the point in adding a crafting profession that will become mostly pointless after a few months since once you have a ship you never need to buy one again and you can loot any components you need.( LoneWulff )

28. Is the Skipray Blastboat going to be a player-controlled ship? And if it is, will it be single-pilot or a multi-crew ship? ( Scott_Ray )

30. Are the materials used for Ship Wrights, going to be currently existing ones, or will new types be spawned for JTL? (LordSeckmoth )


31. Will you turn up the in game flight speeds of the ships? They seemed a bit sluggish from the demos ( Dark_Prophet )


32. Is there anything I can do to "better" my chances to be chosen for the closed JTL Beta? ( Everseeker )


33. Can I be a rebel pilot and still use my YT-1300 to 'Smuggle' or would I have to be a privateer? ( SBRDOC )


34. As a 'rebel' pilot is there anyway to 'hide' my affiliation in order to avoid imperial patrols? ( SBRDOC )


35. What happens when you are flying an YT-1300 (or any other ship for that matter) and you go line dead? How do the other players get off the ship? Can another player take over as pilot? If your YT 1300 is destroyed in battle, what happens? ( TulasiKid )


36. Can we please, pretty, pretty, please, see some pictures or video of the interior of the YT-1300? There was only one shot in PC Gamer, and it was just enough of a taste to frustrate us. ( TulasiKid )


37. How will the Devs be addressing the size issue between the interior and the exterior of the YT-1300? ( Dvader539 )


38. Will JTL Beta testers be able to the option of downloading JTL Beta instead of having to have it put on a cd and sent to that tester at Cost? (Fuegantus )


39. This ties to Q1 really, will the Community have the chance to download the finished JTL product if one has the correct connection speed and so on, practically doing a similar download system to City of Hero's or to that of EQ (think EQ has it) and that people that cant download it can still buy it from the stores etc. (Fuegantus )


40. We all take this to mean that the Overt/Covert/TEF rules we are used to on the ground will be very different than what we see in space. What is the current design for faction status/PVP in space? ( Mkappus )


41. Will faction craft be open to attack from all members of opposing faction at all times? ( Mkappus )


42. For example, I am in the rebel alliance and want to do some travel but no use my x-wing, can I fly a neutral craft that might be in all 3 pilot profession, say a headhunter? ( Mkappus )

44. Are there any plans to reduce lag at star ports since (correct me if I am wrong) all ships will only be able to launch and land from the star ports, and I believe the extra graphics will increase the lag factor. ( asdartha )


45. Will we be seeing any non-ship NPCs at launch (like space slug or mynock)? If not at launch is there ever a plan to add these in later (particularly space slug)? ( virtualman1 )


46. Q3P0 will there be new resources for shipwrights to use for starships or will it be the same resources as are available now. ( Arconis_Runicblade )


47. (I think) When the Devs say " Community Veterans will get first priority in JTL Beta." What does that mean? Does that mean that someone who posts constantly that joined SWG a month ago will get a better chance of going to Beta than someone who had been playing from Day 1 but never posted on the forums? 48. Will there be Targeting Computers like in the X-wing games? (WarHawk666)


49. Will there be power and throttle presets? Can I press a button and I’m down to 33%/66%/100% throttle? (WarHawk666)

Would it be possible if you could confirm whether or not its gonna be in the game, personally I feel it has no place.

160. How will players receive and load ordnance into their ships? If you run out of warheads, how do you get more? Do you have to fly back to a planet and find a shipwright to get more concussion missiles, etc. or do you get these things from a factional NPC? Will there be reloading vehicles in space with which you can dock?


161. What, if any, interaction will players have with capital ships when JTL comes out? We know that players, at least at first, won't be able to operate capital ships, but will players have any kind of missions or dealings with capital ships or will they simply be floating forts that we can either attack or defend?

Janson is doing a great job, and you never know when the devs will take something and run with it. I was shocked when Shug-Ninx used my post as the base for his rumor control thread. Wouldn't surprise me if one day we come in and Thunderheart answers 50 or so questions.

Will a hyperdrive have a chance of failure depending on its quality? Will its use depend any on the piloting/navigational skill of the user?

175. How is the sorosub being handled in terms of piloting profession? We have been told there are 3 variants of the YT-1300 one for each profession. Are there 3 Sorosubs, or just one but any profession can use it?

Devs: Ive heard that there was gonna be a Casino Publish, and it was announced at the Fan Fest, Q said that Jabba's Casino was gonna be published and 10 new mini games were gonna be made, such as "Paazak" and the Chess game that Han Solo, Chewbacca, and R2-D2 were playing. Q also said that 75% of Paazak was coded and it was a non GUI game too, however it was delayed till AFTER JTL. My question is: With the high demand for more player content, and mini games, such as Paazak to be ingame, why dont you finish Paazak, and add it some time in one of the future patches, possibly patch 10 or JTL when 75% of the game is coded?
