It follows that if the TIE was the final evolution of a JSF prototype that the prototype would likely be vastly superior to the production models. The empire uses a swarm mentality when it comes to tactics; that it is moot that their opponents equipment and personnel are superior in quality because the empire can bring such quantity. I would conclude that the production TIE was engineered to be easily mass-produced and maintained, and sacrifices in equipment quality were made. It's not much different than when you see the concept cars at the auto shows which could blow the doors off of any vehicle on the road, then see the production models that follow it being much more sedate.
As for the lack of availability of the JSF to other factions,I have no problems with there being differences in factional equipment as long as equalizing factors are made.

To my understanding, in order to own & pilot the very popular Jedi Starfighter you must in fact be an IMPERIAL to receive and complete the quest. Even though all 3 Pilot Professions are certified to use the starship, the ONLY way you can obtain one is by actually doing the quest yourself. This starship is non-tradable and cannot be sold.
Now this is a pretty big bummer to us non-imperial factioned players. I am a Rebel Jedi Knight with the Rebel Rank of Colonel. If I am to go IMPERIAL just for this ship I will end up losing my Rank as Colonel & I'm not sure if I would lose my Jedi Knight Tag since you need to be affiliated with either Rebel or Imperial Faction to become a Knight in the first place. What's even worse is taht I found this out just as I made Alliance ACE Pilot. This took me3 weeks to accomplish. I know it can be done quicker but I don't have that kind of time on me.
I am very disappointed.... sad I have become.... If the Jedi Starfighter was at least tradable it wouldn't be such a problem.
So... what shall I do? It's almost as if SOE is forcing players to surrender/lose what they have earned and into becoming part of a faction they know a high percentage of players don't want to be just so they can obtain the Jedi Starfighter... So us Rebels need to go through all of this?? w.t.f.!
Now here's the real question:
Why don't they (SOE) make it tradable? Hmmmm... why not indeed.................. I sense a disturbance in the force.

I've heard that if you load a y-wing longprobe with really good components and leave it in your datapad you'll still be able to use it once you hit that tier in rebel pilot again.

I bought a JsF and was given the item needed to qualify for it. Im a Rebel. I can have 10k Imp Faction points to my character 15 minutes from making the decision to do so. Doesnt matter much though, the JsF is no better than the B-22 (also readily available for sale but whats better, instantly usable!).

I hear a horse carcass being attacked somewhere...
I'm pretty sure the Devs are aware of this, since it's been said over and over again, and we have one hell of a Pilot correspondent.
If the Devs see it as an issue, they'll do something about it. But posting the same thing thousands of times isn't likely to change much.
Personally I think they should balance the new ships, then we wouldn't have so many complaints, but that's just me.

dude, we just a had a 4 page discussion about this... and came to the conclusion that if you want it badly enough, you can drop everything to be an imp and be fine... why not open your eyes to other threads before you blast off with your own?

Good money for me hehe 520k for every Rebel that wants to go Imperial and get one... hehe

no it's not
I went Reb just to get the ARC
besides, Rebels have the A-Wing, this is the equivalent for Imps.
