I think It would be a very good idea for mayors to be able to place a player starport in JTL, It doesnt even need to have a shuttle, just a place for people to call their ships in town, without having to go the an NPC city to launch your ship,
It should require the secondhighest city rating to place it there.
IT would let overts be able to launch their ship at their town (if it is a faction town) So they dont have to worry about getting farmed by people of the other faction at the NPC ports. (I get this every time im overt, cause I have trouble finding reb recruiters on naboo, and it really stinks when you get scanned)
There are plenty of other reasons, but im too lazy to post them

Won't Happen. Devs dont want to make NPC cities 100% unneeded.

Yeah. Devs really don't like the idea of making NPC cities useless.

This would be awesome for player cities. Im sure they would limit it just like they do on the rest of player citie rewards. If they did this we might actually not have a ghost town every where we go.

Can you direct me to where it says you must be overt to call a factionally alligned ship? I must've missed that. I thought since space combat will allow overt and coverts that you didn't need to be overt.

Not only would it be the stake in the coffin for NPC cities, but I think it creates interesting scenarios for the GCW. For example, on planets like Talus where there's only 3 Starports, if for example your team surprises the enemy in space and has a large advantage in numbers, station from people at all the starports on the ground and prevent the enemy from getting more people in space.

First of all, I have little doubt in my mind that the devs won't ever put player spaceports in the game. It's bad enough that most of the npc cities are already empty. A great example of this is Tyrena. Nowadays, there is literally like 6 people in the city at any given time. Giving player cities spaceports will just take the remaining people out of the non-capital cities.
As far as this second idea, this opens a great new opportunity for lok that I have never considered. With only one starport, Lok can be a great stronghold for either faction.

already, the devs are off continutinty, There was no Star ports for planets like, Dantooine, Endor,Lok,Yavin, ETC...
(with the possible exception for the smuggling outpost on Endor)
and as far as player cities go, it basicly ruined the RPG-part of the game... Back in release there was tons of RP.... but now since everyone lives in Cities, (except me*now*) no one ever goes to Tatooine on my server... im like the only person ever noticable in any city of tatooine... TONS of Ghost Towns, and Lame names like Zion, or Mos Vegas.... The devs need to get on with the TIMELINE their in....

They might as well Skip the battle of hoth, (Shadows of the empire) and have the Battle for endor now and live at the End of ROTJ cause it certainly feels like it... besides... We still dont see any NPC's riding Creatures... or any more Special Edition Perks.... they need to get Busy busy.... they should also add atleast a 5$ a month for JTL (you may think im crazy, but as a 16yr who plays this game, i believe that if The Devs are paid more, they'll make more... Rofl, just a thought...

("please dont hate yoda,he told me to")
You're kidding right? You seriously want them to charge more for this game?
"Marin County, Calif. – June 28, 2004 – LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE), a worldwide leader in massively multiplayer online (MMO) gaming, are proud to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the launch of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. Launched a year ago, Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided quickly became the fastest growing massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) in North America and today boasts over 500,000 registered users, with more than 115,000 players logging into the game every day. "
Well they make 7.5 million dollars A MONTH off of subscription fees. Plus it would be $20,000,000 (roughly) for the purchase of the game initially for all 500,000 users. Couple that with the fact that SOE is moving CSR support to India (post about it in the GCW boards, I'm not going to look for it, believe me or not I don't care).
There is no way that running the servers, plus paying the programmers, and customer support takes more than 1 or 2 million dollars a month. They are already making a killing and you want another $5/month so that they'll magically get better service?
Maybe instead of SOE playing the part of robber baron they could...gee, I don't know....hire more people to give support and to program. Even if they're paying 200 programmers $200,000/year they're still making a killing.
But if you feel like throwing away $5/month why not send it to me instead.

yeah, I was thinking about this too, it wont happen at all, unless the devs wanna make NPC cities player controlled... not moving things around though, cities are good the way they are, like renting houses out to players as storage, or whatever..
