I was thinking not starports, not adding anything, but.....maybe a part to rebel/imp bases to launch your shuttles from your player cities, and it wont take away as much from npc cities because imps cant launch from rebel bases and vice versa

still the same, people will still have starports, lol.. but I was thinking, maybe like the random Stormie drop off we see now and again.. maybe if players could do that with our groups, like coming in to a certain planet with your group, and you wanna drop them off, turn around and go back for more without landing.. Maybe even give us a skill to do that later on in our pilot professions. /target anchorhead;/dropoff 10... you'd apear as your still in space, those players are automaticly in the shuttleport of anchorhead, and all you need to do is turn around and do it againor land in a starport.
that's an interesting idea. It would be nice, though, if the devs made it so thatwe could launch into space from our shuttleports, they'd never do it of course, but it's a nice idea.

Why would you want to make most of the NPC cities even more barren then they already are? Unless you're talking about Coronet and Theed, in which case I'd almost be close to agreeing with your suggestion on those planets at least...

i think it would be dumb to have the ability to have spaceports in all cities but on places like endor where there r only 2 they should allow...maybe say u can have spaceports 8k with in each other that way cities dont get barren but we dont have to waste money on maitenence on our bikes

Not only would it be the stake in the coffin for NPC cities, but I think it creates interesting scenarios for the GCW. For example, on planets like Talus where there's only 3 Starports, if for example your team surprises the enemy in space and has a large advantage in numbers, station from people at all the starports on the ground and prevent the enemy from getting more people in space.
Uhm.. Gee.. uhm.. Isn't that called Griefing?

Definitely NO player starports. This goes along with my player major cities idea.......
Cut the number of player cities per planet in half, if not 3/4 of all player cities go.
Then give players control of major cities, let people declare residency in bestine, coronet, theed, tyrena, kor vella, mos eisiely............all of em.
There can only be a set number of residents per city, say 200 (just a random number) for coronet, say 200 for theed, say 150 for tyrena.......
Now mayors of major cities can rent out the 'fake buildings' in these cities, let players live in em. It would be great to set up merchant shops right in town. Plus in corilia have skyscrapers and stuff. Taxes in these cities would have to be expensive, it is a big city. (New york isn't the cheapest place to live
)
Mayors would have kinda limited control but they can control taxes, rents, imperial troops....they cannot ban, block....
...I think there would have to be made a way so that coronet isn't made into a rebel stronghold or something but.....
I think its a sweet idea and you can have elite branches of politian like 'senator' to control a nabooian city, 'warlord' to control tatooine, dantooine, and lok..dam can't think of the corilian one I had in mind but you got the idea.
It would definiitely spread the population among every planet and city....guaranteed.

That maybe, but I doubt that it would happen.

This idea is FANTASTIC. The player city I'm part of has wished for this since
day ONE. PLEASE devs, consider this! Player cities as they are seem a bit empty
it'd be nice to have spaceports in them.
I know, you're thinking "then dev cities would be empty" the answer to that is,
do any paying customers that should be kept happy live in dev cities ?

You won't need to scrap player cities, just let players get a place in all those buildings (Corronet could hold everyone on that planet).
That would leave the PCs for people who really want to be away from everything, like rebel outposts or maybe ranger/scout/CH compounds.
Then the evil of them will be almost gone, but they can still claim the feature on the box and make the sale snakes happy

I wouldnt say full fledged space ports, but more of just a place for players to call their ships. but maybe make it cost somthing to call them there so there is a point of going to npc cities. and deffinatly not have a shuttle there. another way to make it so its slightly fair, is to make it need the largest city, and actually take up a good amount of room so it is harder for a playercity to get one. hehe dunno just some ideas

Most NPC cities are already dead and so are many PC cities as well. it is all about Coronet (and to some extent Theed)
We have player cities but still 90% of all commerce is around Coronet (at least on Wanderhome)

Even better would be faction bases that have the starship terminals.. I'd buy that for a dollar.

Not sure about your system but our Archs have a much higher markup then that
