I had an arguement with a fellow freelance the other day about being able to attack Imps and Rebs.
He took Smugglers Alliance and i took and have mastered RSF. Now, why is it that the other 2 (Corsec and SA) you are able to attack both sides?
Im well aware that RSF are Allied with the Imps, but its still freelance pilot is it not? And freelance are neutral. So in theory RSF can also and should be able to attack both other pilot factions. When i was doing 4 4 3 3 i was able to attack imperial craft! Was very strange. But since master that ability has been removed.
And im pretty sure that one of the missions i was given which was to escort an imp shuttle i believe, my trainer said something around the lines of "we have to do this as they are Imperial and we are allies" something like that anyway.
I understand the story behind it, but i dont see why we RSFs cant be the same as Corsec and SA. I dont see it being very fair in my mind, RSF is just imp pilot with getting a YT1300 at the end. Ididnt want to do imp pilot!
What are all your thoughts on this?
Please dont flame.

Very valid points made. Freelance is neutral, so 1:why is RSF freelance if you cant attack both sides? 2: Why are you able to destroy imps half way through tier 4?

I believe its to do with the corvette master mission you completed.......I am a corsec freelancer and until i started on the corvette master missions( 30 ships in kessle and vette) i could kill both imp and reb npc's, after the vette was completed i can now only attack reb ships and not imp, this was due to the fact that when my tier4 trainer had taught me what he could ,he told me he had gotten requests from the alliance AND the empire for help.....i had to choose which i wanted to do and this dictates what i can and cant attack now

Yea i know about corsec, you have to choosesides. But Smugglers Alliance you dont have to choose, you choose in space. now my query is, how is RSF neutral?
All you do is destroy black sun, or rebels and escort imps. To me thats just imp pilot with the advantage of getting a YT1300.

heh i gave up corsec and went to rsf cause one of my missions was bugged and it wouldnt spawn the freighter i was to escort. I sent a ticket and two weeks later i got a reply (first ticket that a csr ever replied to for me might i add) the reply said "There is no bug in your mission, you are just not waiting long enough for the freighter to spawn. Wait about 10-12 hours and the freighter will spawn for you.

All of your arguements miss something.
If you fire on Imperial targets you just shot your boss!!!!!
You would be a true "freelancer" based on the fact that they'd hand you your walking papers.
Oh and when you were 4433 and could shoot imperial targets that was a bug.
If you didn't want to be an Imperial pilot then why join the security force that protects the Emperors home planet?

I killed an imperial vette for my master and can still attack imperials and rebels as a CorSec master.
Perhaps you've gone into deep space and are victim to the perma-faction bug.

In my eyes that defeats the point of being neutral.

As soon as you walked up to the RSF trainer and said I want to work for you. You ceased being Neutral. You joined an organization that protects the Emperor's home planet, thus actively joining the Empire. You are not neutral, you just fly their ships. Both Corsec and SA are neutral, as they do not support either side.

OK first of all, its Privateer, not Freelancer, get the names straight.
It is what it is, enjoy it, there's bigger fish to fry, adds an element to the game anyway.
I started out going up the non-RSF tree in ignorance, among my Imp guildmates, and found out I made a wrong choice, and resigned completely and started over up the RSF line. All good, enjoy it.

Actually, they've changed "Privateer" to "Freelancer" during beta, so it's now called Freelancer.
