Something Sim to the Hyperspeed movies...It dont have to be something really fancy just a ship lifting from behind a starport or landing..
Im sooo sick of loading screens i could puke...Atleast the Hyperspeed gives ya alittle action before you hit the laoding screen...

Yeah i agree, and even if it wasnt fancy it would be definatly better than a loading screen.

oh hell no. like i need to waste more time to watch some stupid cut scene over and over and over. i wish i could turn off the stupid h-space crap. when it hits 0, jump, and start loading the new sector.

It wouldn't take a single nanosecond from existing play time, since it would simply be replacing the existing "billboard" we see while waiting for our system to load into the space zone. For long loads, just loop a flyby shot. When the zone is loaded, we simply cut back abrubtly to the gameplay screen.
Thiswould contribute to immersion. I would think this would make a promising candidate for one of the "spit and polish" activities that are periodically engaged in by the dev team.
Everytime I see this proposal, I /sign

It would be a good addition. They could always include a checkbox to disable them for all the boring people who don't want them heh

It would take some work due to the different ships, but I think it would add a whole new level.

probably wouldnt take as much as you'd think. All they have to do is put an object on a track, and then record that video with each of the ships mapped over the object.
Would only take some effort and want to and would definitely add a little something to the game.

Yeah, indeed that would be quite cool. They've already got the animation... the transport shuttles take off and land. Just replace that with a player's ship that only they can see, even if it is after the loading screen.
If you notice, the shuttle never takes off from the starpot anyway, all the time it just sits there. When you see it "taking off" it's only an animation that lifts up the shuttle and slings it outside, then it gets smaller and smaller to show it going off in the distance. If you target the shuttle and /examine it, it will always say it's the same amount of meters ahead of you if it's parked or taking off. You can even target and examine it when the shuttle "isn't there" (aka invisble). Another way this is proved is that if you get to the starport/shuttleport before everything loads, when the port does load, for a quick moment it will load and show the shuttle there as well, and then it will vanish.
So, with that said, it really wouldn't be that hard to replace that shuttle in the starport with each ship and each texture/paint job (which would be loaded from the player's existing ship). Then when loading or after the loading screen, it would simply replace the transport shuttle with the player's ship and have it landing. In the case of taking off, it would simply do the animation in reverse and show the ship leaving the hanger. As I said, only the player would be able to see their ship because it would only load for them.

I've been asking for this as well. There is no reason they couldn't do this and it would add quite a bit of immersion. If KOTR can do it on the xbox I think they can do it on the PC.

Great idea - it would add a lot to the whole star wars feeling, and wouldn't break up the feeling of immersion in the game like the current loading screens do.

As an ex Earth and Beyond player, i ABHORE this idea.
Sure, movies are cool... at first.
But having to watch a movie in adition to a loading screen gets very old, very fast. Espeically if theres no option to turn the silly movie off.
Any ex E&Ber knows what i mean when i say "warpgates" heh. Basically, want to zone to a new sector? Hit a warp gate. Activating the warp gate treated you with a movie of your ship approaching and entering it. This movie took about 20-30 seconds maybe a bit less, then you saw the acutal loading screen.
Now rinse and repeat that, everytime you want to go somewhere and are in a hurry.

I played E&B for quite awhile and I loved the little movie things. Heh, in fact I used to change my ship just so I could dock with a station, watch the landing movie and see what my ship looked like.
