Thread: A-Wing Woes...:(

I was really shocked the A-Wing wasn't better.

I know, I know it's small and shouldn't be able to carry as much as the other ship's chassis.

So why is it a tier 4 ship then? My mass capacity is 65k and my X-Wing has 99k, are those bad numbers?

Do I need a new shipwright?

I have to say, it seems to turn much sharper in full throttle, I can't say how much better, but I'm still messin with it.

Anyone love the A-Wing?

Seems to be loved a lot in PvP.

The Tie Adcanced has the same mass and is also Tier 4.

The A-Wing is the fastest, most maneuverable ship in the Rebel arsenal. It's my favorite ship to fly.

In Kessel, you will be taking rear quadrant shots at all of your enemies. In Deep Space, its speed, maneuverability and low profile will let you live longer during PvP.

Equip the A-Wing like so and you will be unbeatable by anything without a turret

Level 1 Engine (1000 mass 12000 reactor output)

Level 7 Gun (14500 mass)

MKIII Proton Torpedo Launcher (5000 mass)

Level 7 Shields (17000 mass)

2X Level 3 Armor (3800 mass)

Level 1 Booster (500 mass)

Level 1 Droid Interface & Flight Computer (500 mass)

Reward Engine (15000 mass)

Looted Capacitor for the remainder.

Chaff (1000 mass)

NO the numbers are good. It's a tier 4 because it is supposedly the hardest Alliance fighter to handle, according the Star Wars mythology.

Do I need a new shipwright?

NO

Ships turn sharpest at about 2/3 of their top speed from my experience.

Anyone love the A-Wing?
YES

The A-wing makes up for its lack of firepower and mass in its speed and maneuverability. I started as a rebel pilot in Tyrena. I tried the tier 4 "blow up the blacksun while the fleet tries to escape" mission in my X-wing because I thought I would need more firepower. The X-wing did not bad, and lasted until 60% of the fleet had escaped before my shields failed. Now I tried the mission again in my A-wing, and emerged with hardly a scratch. It took twice as long to blow up one of the Black Sun ships, but they couldn't get on my tail to target me. The A-wing gets alot of love from me.

Just because the A-wing happens to be tier4 doesnt nessesarily means its the best ship.Y-wings can hold lots more stuff, so even though its much less manuverable, you canload it with lots of heavy armor, shields, heavy wepons, and it has 2 ports for ordinance. So its a choice between dizzify your oponents with awsome speed, or take a few hits and return the farvor 4 fold!

I'm using a X-Wing for pvp and had excellent results with it so far.

X-Wing: 100k mass, three weapon slots...
A-Wing: 65k mass, one weapon slot...

And a X-Wing is only slighty less maneuverable than an A-Wing.

Well, I get the same top speed/booster speeds with my 92.2 reward engine in my X Wing AND my A Wing so I don't get the "The A-Wing is the fastest ship" argument.

How is it faster?

See what your top speed is in your X-wing with that engine, then look what your top speed in the A-wing is with the same engine.

Also, experiment with how much you need to throttle down to be able to turn at a quick rate. With the X-wing this should be quite a lot, but the A-wing should be able to almost turn quickly at top speeds.

Oh, definetly the A-Wing can turn around and pursue an enemy quicker than my X-Wing, I was just hoping it's lighter mass would let me have a higher top speed than my X-Wing, which it doesn't.

A Wing is every real pilots dream.... i am using a 33k mass experimental blaster and the reverse engineered reward engine (95speed 9k mass) a mark IV crafted shield , no rockets and low weight armor in it... using a mark I crafted reactor with 9900 energy ( i overload that one heavily) and a mark I droid interface. I have 65500 possible mass in my A wing and my experimental blaster is experimented on speed (0.270) with 1980-3100 dmg per shot.

I rarely get shot with this baby

Speed has nothing to do with the hull. So the speed of the X-Wing and speed of the A-Wing will be identical with the same engine. The difference lies soely in the Yaw/Pitch/Roll aspects of the hulls.

I'm not sure that's entirely true to be honest... Seen people with my same reward engine in a bomber moving like slugs (which they should be of course).

As a master shipwright, I'm telling you it is entirely true. Engines do not take mass into consideration, oddly enough. So identical engines in a Tie fighter, and Tie Oppressor, will push those ships along at identical speeds. The only difference in flight characteristics are in the hulls Yaw/Pitch/Roll characteristics. That is the single, sole difference. Personally I think engines should take mass into consideration, because it's crazy to expect a L1-L2 engine rated at 82 (lilke I'm using in my Tie Interceptor), could be expected to push a mighty Tie Oppresor at the same speed. But alas, they do.
