First experience in Kessel:

Loaded, heard a noise, loaded, wonderd what the hell happend.

Second Experience in Kessel: This time with 3 friends

Loaded, heard a noise, saw 2 ships next to me go up in flames, hit booster, saw energy pass me, loaded, wonderd what the hell happend.

Third Experience in the kessel: This time with a group of 12 for master mission

Loaded, heard a noise, saw our guys going all over the place, saw a group of enemy ships laying down fire on the area, hit my booster, started chasing one, someone behind me killed me in (I was ready this time) under 2 seconds, I timed it.

Forth Experience in the kessel: Alone, but very very late at night

Loaded, heard nothing, checked speakers, they were on... looked around, saw no one. Started scanning area, found a few NPC's, then 1 player closing fast, 2KM away. I hit full speed and fly towards him, hit my shields to front full, at 700m start shooting like mad, and I still die. Great. So in this case, its pray who's numbers are just a bit higher.... or try and dodge, and get slaughterd because you cant dodge in space at that range, or any range except sub300m. Even in an AWing.

This'll be the last time I go into kessel, or go overt in space, or for that matter, try and have fun against people in space. No ammount of uber gear will make PVP fun, because I will either be on the receiving end of a 2 second kill beat stick, or giving it, and NEITHER of those options is appealing to me. Sorry SOE, griefing doesent make my day. Know whatd make my day? an actual fight that takes some skill in space, what a novel idea, skill in something they said skill would be the most important aspect of...

Currently the most important part of PVP is loading into the kessel when no one is there, making your way to a spawn point, and parking your ass for some good ol' shooting gallery fun. Whooo....

Im going to go play some Halo 2 now, because the space combat in that is WORLDS better. And that isent saying a whole lot, those ships are hard to piolet on a joystick, but ya know, if it lasts longer than 2 seconds, its a better time no matter how hard it is to controll.

I cant belive I waited so long for this crap. I was in the beta and quit because this is exactly how it was, nothings changed sence beta, they totaly ignored all voices of reason.

Kessel is going PvE very shortly. I actually thought they did it today, but maybe just not yet.

EDIT: the reason they did it is because of the very griefers you just described. It's their fault we lose Kessel from being a PvP zone. I guess some people aren't mature enough to just play a game the way it was meant to be played.

I dont care if its PVE only or not, the fact stands that PVP, the ONLY lasting draw to space, is a complete joke. PVP in space isent fun, it doesent even qualify as a game. Its more luck than skil, and its FAR FAR more equipment based than skill, anyone who can work a joystick can rock with good gear, and if you give someone crap gear theyr going to get slaughterd. Peroid.

Atleast in the ground game the person with crap gear stands a chance if theyr very good at their prof... this is just lunacy

Well, I just read on TC that they are reducing the damage 25% in space.

Its a process dude, like a dial you roll back, they did it with PvP in the ground game and are now doing it in space. They will roll it back until it is an acceptable time for a fight to complete. But if you can't wait well then you can't wait.

As for the 'grifers' you described in your original post. All but the last instance would be considered 'griefing' in my book. The last instanced you engaged in PvP and lost, it happens, oh well. Hopefully with the dial down it will be a longer fight, but seriously anyone that goes straight at a target dials up the shields in front and expects to live, well they need to rethink their tactics and strategies.

What he described has nothing to do with whether or not Kessel is a PvP zone. What he is describing is the current impalance of PvP.

I have good news! I just saved a bunch of money by switching....err, wait....

In TC patch notes, armor has been beefed up. And, in another thread, TH said that they are in fact reducing PvP damage.

So, everyithin you said above will be fixed, even if they change Kessel back to a PvP zone.

Not to worry soon youll have ship Mechanics to buff yourship. looted DOT weapons. And Ubercomp armor with resists. and ship attachments as well. It will come. And then it will be the same as the ground.

Just give it time this is open beta just like the ground game. A old open beta but ehh. Just get to TC and voice hwta you think will make it better send ideas to the Cors. (LAUGH)

Tsk. And here we have the same idea, but from a pessimistic perspective.

umm... not really, we flew straight at EACHOTHER. See, if one of us flew off in a different direction? yeah, that person would die a horrible death. For the first run of space combat all you can do is a straight flight, a turn off will just let them pepper you for free unless youv got a gunner.

They have to do something to stop people from camping the entrance as thats what EVERYONE does in PvP zones. I have seen different games handle it in different ways. He are some modifications of those ideas they could use.

1.) They could have a dampening zone around which no weapons can fire and have it like a force field that no weapon can fire into either. Only engines so you can see if people are camping the entrance and leave if they are or get reinforcements.

2.) Have say a Tier 20 ship come by every 5 minutes or so and kill anyone there 2 times in a row. Get a wearning on first pass and thgen boom on second pass. The first idea I think is the best idea but I remember is some game I played where they had the uber ships and we would all try to kill the ship and sometimes win. But I think in this game Tier 20 would be untouchable by any number of ships. You have to assume some guild would bring ALL their members to try and take it out so you need a safety margin.

But for first idea just put some beacons out say 500m from the entrance and then you have a safe loading zone.

Dude, I would so be there trying to kill this thing, if its untouchable, someone is going to try, and you know what, that is always fun. Guess what guys, dying while trying to achieve something is actually fun, so people should complain so much about that(which alot of people do, omg I died when <insert event> I can't believe they made me die) well anyways that is totally different than dying in griefing situations which is unethical and immoral, but any honorable pvp'er and there are honorable pvp'ers, certain stereotypes yield bad imaging, would not grief knowingly. Hmm, what was the point of this response again....... oh yeah I would totally be in the group trying to kill that thing, check that one of the several full groups coordinating the assination of this beast.
