Its a process dude, like a dial you roll back, they did it with PvP in the ground game and are now doing it in space. They will roll it back until it is an acceptable time for a fight to complete. But if you can't wait well then you can't wait.
As for the 'grifers' you described in your original post. All but the last instance would be considered 'griefing' in my book. The last instanced you engaged in PvP and lost, it happens, oh well. Hopefully with the dial down it will be a longer fight, but seriously anyone that goes straight at a target dials up the shields in front and expects to live, well they need to rethink their tactics and strategies.

Kessel is going PvE very shortly. I actually thought they did it today, but maybe just not yet.
EDIT: the reason they did it is because of the very griefers you just described. It's their fault we lose Kessel from being a PvP zone. I guess some people aren't mature enough to just play a game the way it was meant to be played.

What he described has nothing to do with whether or not Kessel is a PvP zone. What he is describing is the current impalance of PvP.
I have good news! I just saved a bunch of money by switching....err, wait....
In TC patch notes, armor has been beefed up. And, in another thread, TH said that they are in fact reducing PvP damage.
So, everyithin you said above will be fixed, even if they change Kessel back to a PvP zone. ![]()

Not to worry soon youll have ship Mechanics to buff yourship. looted DOT weapons. And Ubercomp armor with resists. and ship attachments as well. It will come. And then it will be the same as the ground.
Just give it time this is open beta just like the ground game. A old open beta but ehh. Just get to TC and voice hwta you think will make it better send ideas to the Cors. (LAUGH)
Tsk. And here we have the same idea, but from a pessimistic perspective.

umm... not really, we flew straight at EACHOTHER. See, if one of us flew off in a different direction? yeah, that person would die a horrible death. For the first run of space combat all you can do is a straight flight, a turn off will just let them pepper you for free unless youv got a gunner.

2.) But I think in this game Tier 20 would be untouchable by any number of ships. You have to assume some guild would bring ALL their members to try and take it out so you need a safety margin.
