Missiles have a random chance of being duds now with the latest patch.TH has stated its here to stay.

What is going on with the weapons? Me and a buddy shot 20 Mark III missile into a tier 4 tie fighter and only take it's sheilds down 20%. What the hell is going on. Our missiles were not reloads and do 2300-6700 damage. Two days ago we were taking out tier 5s with four of them. The other thing is when you look under weapon groups my blasters show they are doing the damge of the missiles and the missile are doing the damage of the blaster? What is going on?

Looks like PvP damage reduction is put accidently on PvE


I think weapons are nice, not too strong, not too weak. But yes, damage numbers seems a bit confused.

I haven't even bothered installing a launcher on my ship after looking at the stats for the payloads available. Why would I want to spend extra onthem when a couple of laser blasts could amount to the same amount of damage as a missile (not to mention lasers reach their target quicker)? If they're that harmless, all they'd do is entice me to lose some of my dog-fighting skills by becoming more dependant on an auto-tracking weapon.


Missiles IMO seem heavily underpowered, and that'sbefore even factoring inthis dud feature you're talking about. Unfortunately, you run into this problem with any game that involves 'dice-rolling'. There's always a chance (no matter how slim) that you will roll a failure no matter how many times you try. Someone in the game COULD potentially fire a million missiles and have none of them work, but the odds of that are extremely slim.


And this obviously kills what I think their primary use would be... hitting capital ships. Doesn't this make bomber-class ships rather pointless?

Also, missiles do much more damage to more stationary ships, like MP ships, i.e. Decimator, Nova Courier, etc.


The reason is that you can land a direct hit. With TIE's, however, the missiles are exploding close to them, rather than directly hitting them, because of their maneuverability.


Hope that helps clear things up for ya. It's more realistic.


Hint: For maneuverable ships, useconcussion missiles to take down shields more efficiently.

Anyway, overall I would say that missiles are very underpowered in PvE situations. Basically, the time you waste on getting a lock could be spent doing much more damage with blasters. Also the money you spend per shot is laughable if you consider the damage you do with them... Good against the 'Vette though.

THe problem is that missles when grouped only do the damage of one missle even tho your qty goes down in both.

The only missile i've been able to use and destroy a target is space bombs use them on my nova so far nothing as lasted longer then 1.

i personally think launchers are a waste of money etc. i have 2 blasters on my oppressor that do approx 4k damage each... thats 8k damage. the mark4 protons i have on my decimator do 10k...

You have to look at the vs. shields and vs. armor modifiers. On Mark 4's, I believe they are around 0.35. On blasters, they can be up to .65 or more.


The best use for missiles that I've found so far, is against the Corvette, since the weapons and shields have very little HP.

Where did you get 4K damage blasters? Are they player made? The best one that I have is 3.9K, looted, but it's mass is like 50+K, to much for the Oppressor, and I can't seem to be able tofind enough of them to have it RE'ed.
