Well Like many others out there I Eagerly awaited the comming of JTL ,,,

FIrst Day out I get me new softwear and load it in .. WOOT I AM GONNA FLY !!

hay great ,, the begining is ok, lots of new content, things to do, people to talk to and my forst ship !!

Launch into space and all is well,, I wiz through the first levles with a moderate amount of time invested and learn my new piloting skills, all the time thinking " This is pretty kool, Kudos SOE and LA ..."

LVL 2 in the tree goes much the same ,, me still enjoying the new content nad the missions taken in gaining the necessary EXP to get more skills and better equipment.

On to LVL 3 on the tree

WHOOOOAAAA !!! What ?? LVL 3 is mission based ? Kool no more grinding exp off kills to gain a level !!

Sweet !!

BUT WAIT ... These missions are SO LONG and SO HARD that you have absolutly NO CHANCE OF soloing them .. or in my case the first one ... 4 hours on the first night trying to solo the mission .. tried it 4 times , each time advancing into the mission1 hours worth of play only to be killed by swarms of mobs that would be hard for me ot kill with my current equipment lvl one-on -one much less 10 on 1 as it becomes ....

So I recruite a wingmate and off we go the second night ... some1.5 hours in to the mission my wingman dies in a violent explosion after being mauled badly by LVL 4 A-Wings that were 2 times faster than either of us and shortly there after i get killed .. well so much for teaming this mission ...

DidI tell you that without completing the missions in tier 3 you cant buy another box even if you have the EXP ???

WHAT I AM GETTING AT IS THIS ....

If you are a solo player like so many of us are ... forget the JTL pack .. it will only frustraite you to no end when you find out that you can go no further than lvl 2 in the pilot progression. All it ends up being is a alternate way of travel. And as far as travel goes, with the way they have the hyper points set up you are gonna find it faster to travel by starport than to use a ship .. the space map is totaly worthless as a usable reference to get from one place to another... It is like taking a trip from Mos Espa to Bestine via a shuttle and getting set down 10k out in the sticks with that distance to travel to get to where you wanted o go in the first place ,, and on top; of that you have to launch into space .. then hyperspace to whatever planet you wanna get to , then travel the 6 to 12 k to a space station , then land on the planet JESUS CRIST GUYS !!!!

Well, all I can say is that if you don't want to play with others, then play the old X-Wing game, or X-Wing Alliance, or TIE Fighter, or X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter.

I'm having a blast. I haven't gotten to tier three, but when I do, if I need wingmates, I'll find them. I'm not afraid of assembling a team. Sounds like a challenge.

Sadly I have to agree with this. Forced grouping and PvP to level is a silly idea. Holo always said the game starts after you master your profession... thats when grouping and PvP should happen.

I am all for a game that *encourages* grouping, and that gives you the *option* if you want it. But forced grouping is just . . . mean It's not hard to understand why . . . the longer it takes you to master and get bored, the more monthly fees you pay out =/

I soloed Asheron's Call
I soloed Everquest
I soloed Dark Ages of Camelot
I soloed WWIIonline
Hell I even solo this game
Its Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game
Nothing in that phrase says that you have to group to level.
You group to have adventures and make friends.

I dont mean to sound arogant or whatever, but Im rebel and ive soloed so far ( I'm 4/3/4/3) Well actualy I must admit one mission I lost 2wice, so i had a friend come along, but only for the first part. I relized I had misread the objectives (I wasnt to engage the waves of ties, but to disable a certain fighter), I guess its also luck, as I have gotten alot of good drops 2.

im lvl 4,4,3,3 and have done it all solo. as non in my guild had JTL when i got it.

Now im grunding some XP and taking guildies whit my on my missions so they get the waste ammount of XP i get from my tier4 spawns. while they are lvl 2-3. but the thing is i dont want to be forced to group to advance. i enjoy grouping alot and im more or less alwasy in a group in the ground game. just for the sosiceal of it or to help other guild mates lvl.

But forcing to group is as another guy said... mean.... eevul imo.

im seeing some are having prob..specialy freelancers,. but i think it also depends on where you take the missions from.

But the whole grouping to advance in your OWN skills. is daft.... fix that.....

i soloed 4-4-4-4 in storm squadron so far. granted i am a flight sim fanatic and a helicopter pilot in RL. some people got it some don't. get a group, don't be afraid, people don't bite.

incidentally, this isn't a standard MMORPG. this is a flight sim/ MMOPRG. not many rules to set in this one except for one... follow continuity. Star Wars (both lore and the movies) always had flight being done in groups, squads, wings. There aren't solo hotshots flying around blasting everything in sight, its wingmen and quads covering each other.

welcome to what true combat flight... the more people you have, the better chance you have to survive.

I have lots of in game friends, I love to play in groups with them. But SOE has imposed the need ot group to advance and that is not right ,, Grouping is a choice not a necessity in this game.

If we are requiredto group to complete missions, then make these multi-multi part missions so that if you die you can take up where you left off.... DO ANY OF YOU GUYS wanna be locked into a session of this game where in order to advance you cant get up from the game for 2 or 3 hours ? I AM SERIOUS ,, these tier 3 missions are one mission after another , after another , after another where you cant even get up to go pee or get a drink because if you do you loose time necessary to complete that portion of the mission or get ganked by some nearby mob. If you have to log then you are totally screwed and have to start the mission all over again...

If you're a rebel, you need to shut the hell up about soloing missions. You're X-wing is at about100k mass, has space for THREE projectile weapons and TWO missles. The Imp equivalent, the TIE Interceptor, has 50k mass, and only ONE projectile weapon and ONE missle. I fly an interceptor, and in order to have a decent fighter, I'm using Level 4 components or lower (I'm 3/3/2/2). I have the one weapon loaded, pretty good shields, and fairly good capacitor and armor. My reactor is level two, 12k with low mass. I cannot fit missles, boosters, droid interfaces and flight computers in it.

The X-wing on the other hand, can equip everything I have, PLUS another two projectile weapons, two missles, and I"m sure pretty much everything else I can't. Thus, you are far more capable of surviving the onslaught from these missions. And I'm not even talking skill. If you take two pilots of average skill, put one in an X-wing, and one in an Interceptor, the TIE is going to die first. So, if you are rebel, once again, shut the hell up about soloing missions. You're crap is tired. Oh, and tomorrows patch is going to make the missions even easier for rebel pilots, so again SHUT THE HELL UP!!

your not forced to group, there is a clear choice to stay 2,2,2,2

unplug and go console if you want to solo
