Thread: Just a comment about all the crying about PvP or No PvP or PvE..whatever

Sure they are changing Kessel from all PvP to PvE. That does not mean it is No PvP allowed. It just means everyone isn;t forces into it right? So if you want to PvP you can still go there. Just use it and teh gunboats and Vettes there nlike the PvP guys do the bases ground side. As a place to meet.


What would be nice is if the Devs just added a couple more big ship spawns in the entire game. Like that Warlord Crusier in Dant space. Put a Big ship of each type(Imp/Reb?Neutral) roaming each starsystem. You can only attack it if you are Overt. By the same token you can only defend it if you are overt also. Why must PvP be ONLY in a certain spot?


FOr teh Neutrals that want to PvP. Rather then requiring they pick a side. Allow them to Declare Overt neutral(ievPing) at any Netural Space Station.


Justa couple ideas I had rattling around

It won't happen. The PvE people would be up in arms complaining they are being denied content and that they are "being forced to PvP" in order to play the game... wah, wah, wah!!

Not really? They have things they can attack now when not in PvP.... The nice thing would be if they spread it out Guilds could have battles with each other in space around an objective like they do on the group with bases. Plus they could do it without everyone that is doing a PvP being in the same damn spot

that's a great idea. it's a fantastic idea.

but it's not in the game. i'd love it if they replaced kessel pvp with something like that, a fixed, contested point for PVP besides the 1 MASTER ONLY/FACTION ONLY place we have now, or roaming aimlessly across 9 zones looking for overts.

i mean, i personally thought the master mission was made difficult by the PVP possibility. i don't like load camping and i wish the devs would address that, but most of the hardcore "NO PVP!" people on these boards don't want to hear that side of the story. they don't want to support randomizing spawn points, nor do they want to fully get behind pressure to the devs to move the mission out of kessel, or have two missions, or anything like that. no, thunderheart said "it's going PVE" and they all said "good" without remorse, simply because they cannot differentiate between PVPers who do it for competition, and griefers. some can, but not most.

look around at people who supported removing PVP from kessel. they consistantly say "i just want to fly my YT". did they support moving the certs to the fourth tier? no. can they collectively organize and start something like that? no.

it's not about crying or wanting to force people to pvp. my opinion is that there should be a difficult mission for master. my opinion is that the only way to make it hard is PVP. you don't have to agree with that, and i respect it.

but simply taking away an area for PVPers was unacceptable. not providing an alternative was unacceptable. that's all anyone is really saying, despite varying levels of articulation. the PVE arguement though is just "DONT GRIEF ME!" ad naseum. there's no concession whatsoever. it's not an arguement with two sides, it's rationale vs FUD. and you can't say "what if this" or "what if that" because the facts are that PVPers lost a centralized point to go play, and gained nothing.

i mean look, i'm probably going to get load killed at one point or another while i play this game. i'll probably get worked afk. am i going to take those isolated incidents and use it as a rallying point for which to support taking content away from players? no. so why are other people doing it? why so bitter when death is essentially meaningless? ive read tons of posts from players saying "I SPENT 3 HOURS ON MY MASTER MISSION ONLY TO FAIL IT AT THE END AND START OVER!"

but the master mission doesn't even work like that. you pick it up and it stays in your datapad forever, until you complete it, even if you die. you spawn at endor and it takes 1 minute to go back.

Special content just for PvPers just isnt fair. The game by default is PvE you PvE for every mission all the way to master. the Master mission only allowed you to be subjected to PvP it had no specific PvP require such as kill 5 player ships. The reason there is no special content is it doesn't work, only the uber elities end up getting it, no average PvPer does, particaularly if the elitie PvPers can prevent you from getting special content. The PvP mentality means they have to be the best, they have to be speicial to everyone and they think they deserve rewards for a style of play. PvP and PvE are just play styles and not tactics in a certain sense, it does take tactics for each style but PvE is not a tactic and PvP is not a tactic by itself.


I'd love for them to get Kessel back get the master mission out or make people in the group with a master mission immune to PvP and keep it in kessel, but Kessel should be PvP and the master mission PvE.

Agreed give Kessel back or make a new wild space zone, spot on!

Forced PvP is wrong, period end of debate the Devs made a mistake sneaking that in, the community didnt buy it you lost that issue. No side should get special treatment the game was designed to advance through piloting in PvE, even the master mission has no specific PvP content it was a PvE mission in PvP space. When Kessel or a new PvP zone goes online yes they should do random spawns, as the griefers will not quit. 30 seconds of not getting attacked is lame, just randomize the zone in points either per day or per person. Two master missions are not needed there is no basis for a special PvP mission. As for they ALL said good without remorse try reading my posts, I am dead set against Kessel being PvE, unless it is very temporary I want Kessel to PvP so it's not ALL. It the griefers who do the most damage to you and you know that is who is talked about mostly, why? They are the ones causing problems, sorry it doesnt sit with you but a few bad apples make the game tedious, and unbalanced not fun.

Yep alot of the community just wants the master mission out of PvP space. Why would anyone support moving the rewards to teir 4? It doesn't make sense, the master mission is a PvE mission in PvP space it is not an advancement box for PvPers it never was. I paid for this game, no one buys a game with the express purpose of not finishing it. Sometimes it happens to be you cant finish a game, but EVERYONE who bought JTL expects to get to master, if you didnt well self esteem issues aside you wasted your money. The only eveidence you have that Master is intended for PvPers is the location of the mission and a feeble redefinition of the term Ace. The very fact TH came on said forced PvP was wrong, just dropped the best point and half of your defense for the notion Master pilot is a PvP title. No one supported moving the rewards because no one but a few elitist PvPers support giving PvPers special titles or rewards. Master mission and master pilot is not rare, magical, a PvP title, it is the 18th and final box of advancement through piloting. Skill is determined in combat not by how many pilot boxes you have.

But to you and your opinion PvP is the only challenge, and if the Devs believed that at all levels PvP should have been forced so you could get challenge and ANY missions should have had PC targets as targets to complete, or atleast made PC targets count. PvP does not equal challenge to all. This is a community game.

The PvP argument was actually "DONT FORCE ME" the concession is the pilot tree is irrelevent to PvP so get it out of your head. PvP is personal it is choice as it shoud be, however I do agree Kessel or a new zone MUST return to PvP zone, as the Devs promised consensual PvP they also promised TWO PvP ZONES, and I am with you on getting zone number one back.

There were very, VERY few people arguing for complete removal of PvP from Kessel. The argument was to move the Master MIssion out of Kessel. The devs decided to kill a roach with a sledgehammer, not us. We never wanted PvP removed from Kessel. We just wanted to be able to play our PvE mission without having to worry about grief play.

no, you are exactly right. most of the arguements before the dev change were entirely sensible. it's AFTER it happened you started seeing idiots. peruse the various threads now, rarely do you see a rational call for alternatives. there are 2 or 3 people who are, and even if we have differences of opinion on forced pvp, i respect their side and am willing to conceed to it.
