Whoever came up with this mission is a Sadist. Not only is this by far the longest mission I've done yet but you are tasked with multiple escort missions while you get jumped repeatedly by groups of fighters, after which another mission spawns.
This mission would be easier if the timing were fixed. After capturing the hut ship and escorting it past what seems like endless enemies, you then have to go defend a spot in space from another stream of endless enemies. Tier 4 ships start appearing at this point.
The next stage is too escort another fighter past endless waves of ships, again 1 tier 4 ship in every wave.
The next stage is where the timing is messed up imo.
You arrive on scene and see only hutt ships, then all the other ships arrive and you start attacking them, hutts don't engage for a few more seconds, in which time you've managed to get 6 tier 4 ships interested in blowing you out of the stars. The enemy ships should jump in while you are still approaching and the battle should begin before you can attack one of the enemy ships. This way you don't do all that work only to get gang raped by 6 tier 4 ships at once. In this mission I took out 2 of the tier 4 ships by disabling engines and was about to disable a 3rd when his friends blew me away. I really had no problems in this mission until I had 6 ships coming after me at once.
I really hope this is the end of this mission because I can't stand all these escort/defend missions. The multi mission missions are nice but there really needs to be a way to save progress after a certain amount is done.

Agree, just take a look at the other imp posts on tier 3 mission 1. Its ridiculous. Not only do they screw the casual gamer over, but if you fail 1 part, even at the last mission, you have to start all over. Great concept, dont you think?

It's very frustrating, I managed to get through mission, but it was no fun at all. Considering (SPOILER) that each mission completed gives you a free skill upgrade it might be ok to have such difficult missions. Completing miss 1 gave me 1 free tier 3 skill, I've heard ppl say that tier 3 was all free so I'm assuming that means each mission on yavin gives a skill reward.

[Spoiler] Yes all Tier 3 skill boxes are free.
I'm in the Inquisition and I've did the first two missions solo and just got box 3 while partnered with another 3322 pilot. If you want to talk about a hard mission try Tier 3, mission 3. You start off having to make a 11,000m delivery while being under attack by waves of tier 3 x-wings and a-wings. After you get to the spot you have to dock with a shuttle while under attack. If you manage to survive that a wave of 9 tier 3 x-wings come to finish you off. If you have survived all that you can repair at the station but only 75% of your damage. Then to cap it all off you have to disable a rebel command ship with two heavy cannons and an attachment of pesky tier 1 x-wings. And you still arent done, while under attack you have to dock with the command ship and then escape back to Naboo.
Take it that all this is occuring in Dathomir so remember to watch out for the Tier 4 and 5 mercernary fighters in the area.
I can't wait until tier 4, but I would have to say that though harder, I like the mission based progress 100x better than just grinding. With the free skill boxes I'm almost done with Tier 3 and I still have 700k xp once I get to Tier 4.

Same trouble with the tier3 missions for Storm Squadron and the missions which are given on Yavin4. You travel to Endor have to escort a ship against hordes of fighters, after that having to recapture it and defend it again and finally meeting your doom at the hands of tier4 A-Wings at the start of the 3rd part of the mission. How should someone be able tokill a tier4 A-Wing in a Tie/In ??

Update:
After having tried Tier 3 Miss 2 several times, I think 5 now, I'm realizing that the battle that ensues between tier 4 fighters isn't a battle at all, Every single one of them goes after me. Mabye i'm just too close when the action starts but every single ship ignores all the others and goes after me. This wouldn't be so bad if you were able to start the mission at that point but it takes at least 30 min to get killed in less than 30 seconds. If you change the fight to be between tier 3 ships or just make it so the ships actually fight each other instead of ganging up on you this might be fun. As is, it's almost impossible with them all attacking at once. In the future I plan to try and get as many ppl to help me as I can but I don't see why 10 tier 4 ships vs 1 Tier 3 ship (me) could be anything but suicide.

MADNESS-
After trying this mission several times, I think I'm up to 7, I have a massed almost 450k xp and have spent way too much time escorting ships.
Some loops holes that help in this mission:
After the first escort mission, before the broadcast, you can land, hyperspace, log, anything you want and it will let you resume this later. I do this now as it breaks up the madness in the forever long escort missions.
During the escort missions you can disable the enemy ships instead of destroy them and this way you'll have more time between waves. They are not timed, they simply come in when you've destroyed 3 of the 4 ships in each wave. The tier 4 ships are a bit of a challenge to disable but the escort missions are pretty easy if you just disable everything.
The fight between hutts and Nym. The fight will start properly if you are far enough away but the Nym fighters seem to ignore the hutt fighters once you join the fray. I managed to disable 5 of them before I took to much damage and exploded. The Hutt fighters are a joke, they don't do anything. They can't even destroy disabled fighters that I leave for them. Beef up the Hutt AI and hopefully it will help.
IMO this mission is just too hard. I'm in a Tie Interceptor armed to the teeth and I just can't manage to move past this mission. Going from waves of Three T3 fighter & one T4 to Eight T4 fighters is too big a step. Make most of them tier 3 and mabye a few more tier 4's. All tier 4 is out of wack.
This mission is passable with a group of good pilots, mabye 2 great pilots, but solo it's luck. If you pass this mission then you either have some incredible loot or you got real lucky.

I've triedtheStorm Squadron Tier 3 mission4 times now. First time with only one friend, last three times with 5-7 (yes SEVEN) other pilots ranging from 1111 to 2222. The enemies target me and kill me instantly on the part after ispecting the lonely ship (part 3 I think). Once I flew in the outer parts of the fight, and then everything despawned, saying something about me being too far away.
Anyway, this is not the way it is supposed to be. I've spent more than 6 hours straight on it.
As someone said "I was doing fine until I met this trainer". Couldn't be more true.
If only the progress would get saved, but nope... Redo it all, even if you fail (or bug out) on the last mission.
I can't find people willing to go up there anymore, everyone has given up hope. Just mentioning the quest gives bad vibes at the starport.

Yep, i'm stuck on the same mission, tier 3 mission 2 for black epsilon. I think i've tried it about 7 times now, every time I get murdered during the hutt/nym battle phase. I'm on bloodfin if anyone is also stuck and wants to pair up and help each other.

I'm here as well I'm about ready to quit entirely over it. I was in beta (did inquisition). What disturbs me is that something like this mission went live. It seems directly contrary to the whole marketing of SWG that it doesn't require you to group, it doesn't require you not log off for hours on end. To quote myself from another post
"Soloing needs to be viable in SWG, that's part of the point of SWG over EQ. Grouping should always be preferred but not required. I counted before the batch of nyms guys I had killed about 70 npcs in 1 hour and 40 minutes in space.
To be blunt, this is unacceptable. You want me to kill 70 NPC's over a 2 hour period so I can train? Fine, break it into 3 different missions, and don't let me train till they're all done. You want me to group? Make the content for the whole mission worth grouping for, not just 6 npc's at what better damn well be the end.
I should not have to beg people to come help me so I can level up, period. Saw this in EQ with hours of waiting for someone to log on and help with a quest, I will not do it in SWG, thats why I play SWG, so I don't have to do that."
I said in beta and I'll say it here. I think JTL is a good game, but its the wrong game. Its like marketting half life to fallout fans because the titles both revolve around radioactivity. JTL needs a fundamental concept shift, and implementation so that it is in line with the ground game. No forced pvp status, no forced grouping, no being stuck playing for hours on end with no break.

Update take 2
I have been at this mission again. I will pass this if it kills me. With how close I was the last time I feel like there only needs to be a slight boost in my performance and mabye I can take this mission on my own. The key boils down to doing enough dmg/sec.
For the first time tonight I started using the astromech programs, Weapon overload 2 and Engine Overload 2. The weapon overload was pretty surprising because it sapped my capacitor very quickly but made my weapons much more powerful. Problem is I haven't tested it against a tier 4 yet, will do that tommorrow. Aside from wearing down the armor of the engine, engine overload 2 seems to help a great deal as well.
Have completed the first part of this mission, will go for the second part tommorrow.
