You ever gunned in a YT? It's not easy.

I did it with Kstarfire early in Public Beta 1.

The AI for turrets needs to miss at least 50%. Didn't you guys see EPIV

Agreed, NPC turrets are ridiculous. I can fly into a whole swarm of tier 4-5 fighters in my A-wing and come out on top, but one ship with a turret and I'm toast no matter how much I try and evade even if it's like tier 3.

yep just expierienced this myself...went after a diplomat for a level 2 mission in a YT and had my TIE/IN with all Level 3 equipment ripped to pieces in mere seconds. I was dumbfounded but then got myself some Mark II Proton Missiles and solved that problem.

I agree completely. I am trying to finish up my Tier 3 missions out of Dantooine, and the final mission is placed over a Tier 4 spawn point with 2 Oppressors and 2 Aggressors. I went out there with two buddies in X-Wings, They had both gotten 3-3-3-3 from a different planet (Yavin), and I am 3-3-3-2. I have pretty good equipment, so I last long in the fight. However, those Aggressors just rip us up. They are nailing us DEAD ON at 600m.

Question, do the Imperials have to face fighters with turrets at Tier 3 or Tier 4? I'm not talking larger ships like the YT or Nova, I'm talking fighters. Do they have to face Tier 4 Y-Wings with 100% accurate turrets? Or are we rebels the ones stuck in that situation?

Being a Privateer, I can't answer...but I have fought merc Y-Wings, and their turrets seemed to be slaved to their forward guns. However, I've gotten badly shot-up by a merc YT-1300, as well as run down a Black Razor gunboat with a group of friends. The turrets that do work are dead-on accurate. I've also noticed that certain ship types are dead-on accurate, too. And if a ship is behind you, it WILL hit you. Period. Flying a Dunelizard with a massive engine (top speed of 90.3, effective max velocity of 848, as well as spine-tingly pitch and yaw), I can tail one bandit, have two or three on my tail, and the ones behind me will hit me with every single shots, even while I'm juking and dodging, following my own target.

I think each ship has a "kill zone", and if you're in that zone, you get hit. Since with fighters, this kill zone is fixed to a certain point in front of them, if they're facing you, they'll hit you, even if they shouldn't. For turrets, this kill zone is pretty huge...I mean, they can rotate 360 degrees and max elevation of 90 degrees...So, basically, if they can see a target, they can shoot it, which means they hit it.

If it's anything like it was in beta, then I would wager that it's still pretty broken.

Even with a tiny, hyper maneuverable A-wing, you got hit at the very least 50% of all shots fired on you (And this is while evading)

I'm almost to the Tier 3 Mission 3 level for Epsilon, and I've heard going up against that Nova Courier isn't fun.

Yeah, I'm gonna work a Mk.2 Proton launcher into the loadout, beeping be damned, and target the turrets once I can punch through the shielding. I've got near-1000 strength shields fore and aft, so I should be good enough to punch through and neuter it before I get torn to shreds. I've breezed through a lot of missions people are having trouble or needed help on, and I've used the mouse so far. Once I get my joystick up and running, I'll be unstoppable.

I'd used a Concussion launcher prior to this, but I want something that can do equal damage to the shielding and superstructure.

If I were a betting man, I'd say the turrets in JTL and the turrets in game share the same AI.

If anything, they should calculate what Han's/Luke's aggregate accuracy was in ANH, and amplify it according to Tier level. I still think the turrets in JTL use the same AI as in-game turrets.

Actually, you are about to be unpleasantly surprised, with the joystick, your skill will be reduced in this game. All other space sims it's a pro, this one, sticks are a con
