Thread: The NPC Turret AI is broken. It should not HIT you every time
With a joystick I'll be able to bind a few droid commands to secondary buttons and possibly even set an emergency brakes button for when I get to a point where enemies stick to my ass like glue.

You have to buy unprogrammed droid chips and store the command in them

I agree, but its not just the turrets. It seems to me as someone else pointed out, if yer in thier way, they fire, you get hit. No matter what you do to evade them. Which I belive is unrealistic ( as much as can be for a Sci-fi game), and should be fixed. Nothing more to piss you off then some jerk on yer backside hitting you every time, even when doing a barrel roll into a talon roll dive. Not cool at all.
Yeah, I would state that the entire "AI" is broken. Only thing that stops me is that I'm not sure if they changed it anything from the last change they made during beta. Haven't got JTL quite yet.
What they did was rather amusing, they gave the NPC's much better ships than players can every have on the same Tier, while increasing the accuracy of their guns. They called it "improved AI", but I always said that it lacked the "I". All they did was to attack, turn around (faster than players can ever do), attack, turn around. In effect, they were jousting with their exploited ships. Now, I'm all for a bit of a challenge in the dogfights, but fun is more important. IMHO the old "AI" with the sluggish, more realistic ships were much more fun, since the NPCs actually tried to maneuver. They never did any maneuvers except turning around the last two days or so before beta ended.
So... Yeah. Is this "AI" still in effect?
Not much I can do, it can fire front and back, oh and the shuttle will chase me down.
Then to add it only takes about 4 shots, to knock out all my shields and armor.

Oh yeah. Wait until you see a tier 4 Scyk mounting at LEAST MkIV equipment that can out-turn and out-fly anything a PC can put into space. These are things that should only be able to mount 12k worth of mass, using player conventions, yet seem to easily have at least 60k to 80k worth of components in them.
It's kind of like how they "increased the AI" of humanoid-type targets in the ground game by giving them 10k or 20k HAM when the max a player can have is like 1200, maybe around 3000 fully buffed. I gave up Rifleman because I got tired of taking a Headshot 3 at a Reb General and doing 3k or 4k damage and have them lose only about afifth of their mind pool.
