Thread: Jedi space *notice the singular* skill

I would think that jedi deserve one space skill to make space just a little more similar to the movies. Nothing too fancy. My idea is that if a jedi is ace pilot they recieve the piloting skill "Missle Prowess". Once you activate this skill, you use the force and get an automatic lock-on onto the next ship youfire your weapons or a missle atuntil that ship is destroyed. This idea is loosely based on Luke destroying the Death Star. This ability will only be usuable once every 3 hours. Please no flame posts, just an idea.

Not a bad idea... no flame from me

Although I would prefer to see space enhancing abilities replace some of the more usless FS trees. Just look how much little ainiken achieved before he was even trained as a jedi.

The way I see it, when Luke fought in the Death Star battle, he wasn't as experienced a pilot as some of the others in his squadron may have been. Point being, if an "Ace" pilot were to be faced with a task like that, considering the fact that he's an "Ace", he should be able to judge the distance and fire one in without a targeting computer. So his help from the Force was merely compensating for that, or at least that's what I like to think.

....

Ok, maybe I just don't like Jedi.

What is most important to you? Would you give me the happiness of stealing it from you?

Not a flame but I wholeheartedly disagree. New pilots and those who don't fly that often really don't appreciate how easy space is now. Also, since a skill like that would probably be able to be utilised in pvp, which in space is a twich system it'd probably be frowned upon just like the majority dislike the utilisation of Epulse 3 in space.

Possibly a skill which maybe acted like IFF scramble in pvp would be useful. I.e, Jedi is in a furball with another player, they activate skill and then to the other player, the Jedi's fighter disapears off radar and becomes untargetable for a few seconds. That might be a better way, but personally I just don't think JTLS can benefit from anymore skills which would give a minority an advantage over the majority.

Please bare in mind that with droid commands which are easily obtainable by everyone, the JSF and GSF which these days are too, easy to acquire along with even crafted starship parts; there is no PVE based mission in the game which can't be waltzed through without breaking so much than a finger nail in space. The only two quests exempt from this for the 'average Joe' would be the Lord Cyssk mission and possibly the Tier 5 Ghrag duty mission from the CPG protector.

In order to make JTLS more fun and to preserve the reason to play it, we don't need new skills, but more actual playable content or relevance to pvp in space. Somthing else to do which once played through once, won't get boring. Maybe like GCW in space or the fabled Capital ships which we might/not be getting at some unforeseeable point in the future. I'm one of JTLS's biggest fans. I am flying my A-wing most nights and have flown every mission the game has to offer. I personally think, GCW in space and a few boardable/conquerable/destroyable faction Stations would be the way forwards, or at least a step in the right direction.

Before the fun starts, can I point out the humor in needing an automatic lock to fire a weapon that already comes close to assuring a kill in PvP? Seriously...of all the powers to ask for, that's pretty close to an I Win type of scenario in a good PvP dogfight. At least ImRecs require facing the target for a set amount of time.

Ummmmm, missles are some of the least important components.

Are you flying an A-wing out of stubbornness or do you not know that the JSF/GSF have superior stats?

Ummmmm, Luke was part of Rogue Squadron. Rogue Sqaudron is the most elite group of pilots the Rebellion has to offer. Notice also if you read the books and watch Episode 4 again most of Rogue Squadron, even Wedge, use targeting computers. The only exception is Luke because using the force is more efficient.

You don't PvP much, do you?

And, ah, I wouldn't knock Leaph's A-Wing, that thing is a beast.

By the way, some of us fly for more reasons than just to be, "uber-leet." My PvP ship is a 50k TIE Interceptor, and I've given plenty of Actis/B-22 pilots a free trip back to the station. Without intentionally coming across as snobby, I can basically guarantee you that I know more about ship mass management and have better components than the average Actis pilot. In short - it isn't the ship or the special skills that make the pilot, it's the pilot's skill behind the ship. Adding jedi skills to space completely undermines that. No way, no how. JTL was supposed to be about "twitch" skills, not mindless button mashing and macros like the ground game.

If you think I'm crabby, I dare you to post this on the pilot forums.

FS buffs will never mix with the pilot community. Many of the pilot veterans, including me, made ace before the CU. Speaking of that, are you even ace? Before pushing an overhaul, earn ace. You'll have our respect if your trip to ace doesn't include any ROTW ships.

I wouldn't support so called "Jedi" ability but I see no problem adding a F/S skills. Make the boxes 1 skill points each so you have to think a little on what you want in your templateor 0 just like the rest of the Piloting prof. and make them not count towards your path to the Jedi.

By pressing that issue, a whole new can of worms would be opened. It couldn't take up any skill points in order to be consistent with piloting and all-inclusive. The current space layout allows all to be on an equal playing field, crafters and jedi alike. If it's a space ability, it then highlights the pilot FS conversion issue. That could open a bad Pandora's box of mixing ground and space.

YES i want to have Saber block on my JSF. Great idea. And can we make the next 300 publishes and hotfixes to jedi in space. We need more jedi stuff in this game after all they are so rare.
Dunno how I Aced pilot in week 2 of launch with out being able to AFK grind it. Imean having friends help me in a group who would have thought that would be in this game.

For the humor challenged this was a No vote.
