Yeah its pretty and has a big interior. Thats fine.. but...
A) You can't upgrade it... Oh well.. its not really a "star fighter" so I don't really care.. but..
B) ITS SO FREAKING SLOW.
Okay.. like seriously.. I have respect for the devs and the job they do.. but how to retarded choices like this get made?! It takes about 4 seconds piloting the thing before you realize.. okay.. "This thing is so slow I'm never ever going to use it"
Reason A) was a bit of a p1ss off. Now I get in game and find out the ship will take the better part of a life time to fly a measley 10,000km.
Now that you don't hyperspace right to a space station and have to fly that distance before you can land.. the whole idea of "the yacht is good for just flying around and sight seeing" goes right out the window.
Its such a STUPID flaw to release the game with and is going ot tick off SO many veterans tomorrow when the majority of people plan to pick up the game..
Seriously. Double the speed of thge thing so we can at least zip around in it. Who makes these decisions? FIRE THEM NOW.

I think it's nice that the speed isn't 'ub3r.' Makes it seem star warsy, you never saw frigates flying across the sector in 2 minutes.

A few years back I was just surfing the web and happened across a yacht for sale. It's name was "Octopu$$y" and boy was it the lap of luxury. Funny thing about this yacht, it's top speed was 41 knots.

Sigh....i dont know why im going to spend the energy repling to this.
Its a sad world when people get a free item and all they can do is nag NaG NAG! Jeeze just deal with it, yea the yacht is slow but deal with it, atleast we get a yacht...Personally i dont care what people say im getting my yacht and im going to like it despite how slow it is. On a side note WHY WOULD IT BE UPGRADE-ABLE WHEN ITS INVULNERABLE! It would seriously unbalance the game if you could upgrade the yacht and add weapons and such to it and still have it invulnerable...

You do not understand the purpose of the ship. It is not supposed to be fast or dangerous. Get a multi passenger faction ship if thats what you want. Its basically a house for space. Pimp it out, throw parties, go check out POI's without danger. Use it for its purpose and you will find it is a great thing.

It speed was between 400-500 I believe... If you figure that the starter ships flight at roughly 450 what is the problem? Sure it's not as fast as say an A-Wing, but it shouldn't be either. I mean it is a tank.

An invulnerable tank...thats HUGE and you can throw parties in...cruise around and watch all the noobs get blown up hehehe

well just look at our speeder bikes at most the fastest does what, 55kph? thats as slow as a 72 nova running on half its cylinders. Its free so have fun with it, nobody said you had to deed it.

Wow - I'm in the totally opposite camp from you on this one.
The Yacht is our "home in space" - 5 decks, beautiful design, invulnerable to attack, hyperspace-capable.
It's slow because it's big - it should not handle like an TIE or A-Wing. It should (and does) handle like a bus, because it is a bus. 8)
Even the Devs call it a "Party Barge". Holds up to 20 people and 75 items. It's not a "fighter yacht of instant p0wnag3" nor was it designed to be that. I has no weapons and can't be upgraded because it is invulnerable. There are a wealth of fighters and other multi-player ships that are battle-capable.
All ships were designed to have realistic flight models - high-mass ships trade manueverability and speed for resiliency and weaponry in battle. Low-mass ships trade resiliency for fewer weapons, speed, and manueverability. I won't say it's all a perfect balance, but from what I saw in Beta, the Devs know every tweak and can adjust things a tremendous amount.
I respect your point of view, but I very much disagree with you on this topic.

If you think its worthless, fine, dont use it.

If people would only look at the positives of items they get in games and the positives of the aspects of certain games they'd relize how good that game truely is...instead they just complain...makes me sad it does
