so we're expected to group to do some stuff then? i always thought the group incentive was from the prestige points and going up against huge enemies

Prestige points are what you get after ace instead of space combat xp.
It is possible to solo tier III, I think I did the thrid storm squadron mission solo. But plain and simple, it will be 100 times easier with a wingman.

I hired an Ace to help me on tier 3 and he just cut through everything like a knife thru butter. As for a low level 2222 type player soloing it . I doubt it.

wops. pressed "enter" too soon, lol.
I see people claim to have done their tier3 pilot missions solo, and I wonder HOW?
Im on my 3rd tier3 mission, I did the first two quite easy, but Im realy stuck on this.
Im supose to rescue a freighter, and then kill some rebell advisor. The freighter is easy, but the advisor is a pain.
When I reaches him and the escort, I get blown to pises in like 5 seconds!
The escort is not the bigest problem, I know from practice that I could take out that amount of tier3/4s in my Tie-interseptor, or even in my bomber, but the guns on the advisors gunship rips my shields in one hit!
I have tried to lure the escort away, to kill them off first, but the gunship is just as fast as the x-wings in the escort, so no mather how far I go whith my Interceptor, when I turn around to shot at the X-wing on my tail,WAM! the gunship rips my shield!
I even tryed to lure themnear a Imperial base, whith lots of Ties around it, to make the ties distract the escort while I attempted to kill the gunship, but the ties did not attack the escort, and the escort did not attack the ties.
I then tryed using my Bomber, with wepons oversharge, I sharged the gunboat, but by the time the gunships shield was down to 80%, my frontshield was down to 0%. Then I passed the gunship, and the escort and the gunship started to pound my backshiel, and brought that down to 0% too. Then there is a few anoying seconds of armors being penetrated, then the flasing of the eject light, and the all so familiar spacestation.
I think I havea fairly desent setup, especialy on my Interceptor. I have a lvl4 1,1k shield (7,9 recharge)(or was it 9,7? notsure), a lvl 7 gun whith 1700-2600 (I think) gun, a lvl 2 950- 41 recharge RE capasitor, a lvl 2 RE reactor whith more than enough power, desent armor (700ish) front and back. I can take out tier4s and 5s easily in that ship, and a pack of tier3s is normaly (exept in this mission I guess) no problem at all.
My Bomber is maybe a bit sub par, but It is as follows (aproximately, as I dont have the setup in front of me):
Shield mark IV 11,5 recharge, 1450 front and back, two advanced blasters damage 1600ish to 2600ish, mark IV armor 1K ish front and back (it was atleast before I got blown away), lvl4 cap recharge 41,5 900ish, plus looted booster and droid interface. Im far from filling it, as I cant use MKV equipment yet.
There also seems to be few ppl on at "my" hours on the server (Scylla), so its not easy to get help doing this.
Anny tips/strategys?

Call in a bomber strike. You DID take bomber strike with your first or second tier 3 unlock, didn't you?

Yes, I did Imperial Inqusition solo. Some missions took me 8-10 times to analyze and succeed in, but I did them.
My question is: has anyone done Storm or Episolon solo?

I took 2322 first to get the good gear, then I took 3322 to get the Interceptor/Bomber
I have been thinking about a restart in my pilot profesion, but Il hate to loose the ability to flt Tie-interceptor

Oof. That's too bad. BS1 doesn't pack a whole lot of punch, but it gives you what you need in this case...cannon fodder...

I've got a full writeup of that somewhere on these board.
In short, get a fast engine and do passes on the transport. Try to approach below the nose and exit via the belly. Eventually, you take out the guns and then take out the engine.
Another help is to hyperspace between passes. The enemy loses agro on you.
The real kicker is that you must disable it. If you don't, you won't have time to take out the Tier3 escorts before they hyperspace out.

Igot help with 1 tier 3 mission and 1 tier 4 mission. I'm a Storm Squadron Ace now and was able to solo the rest of the tree including the corvette. As was mentioned before, I too had to make several attempts to develop a strategy on a few of the missions but I did prevail in the end.
Soloing Storm Squadron might be possible, but not probable.
