Yes. Doing commands are a must. ALL your advantages are a must. You have to keep refining your ship day after day, failure after failure. You should read the board for tricks. You absolutely MUST know how every element in an encounter reacts. Learning what/when/how to manipulate the encounter is key.

I'm stuck on the frist T3 mission for storm squad... it where you have to do an escort... i cna take out the first bunch of rebels.. but by the time wave 2 and 3 come in.. man... I have no hope.. the escort just taken out in no time... I have looked into getting help, but timing is always bad

I asked this in chat today: "Okay.. two (reasonably) sensible questions (I hope)... 1) Is there any way a 3,2,2,2 pilot can do tier 3 missions solo? and 2) How many hitpoints does a Rebel Space station have?"
Adressing the first I have been politely informed that... well, no, it can't be done.
Much as I hate it, it's been proven. Yesterday I was working with a small group of 4-6 players, tiers 2 to 4. We fluffed it. Not once, not twice, but three separate attempts on the same tier 3 mission.
The group dynamics were flexible and we were fairly cavalier in our approach to dogfighting, but still... THREE ATTEMPTS Failed?
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

The few (2) times i have needed wingmates I only needed 1 or 2 extra people.
Escorts are easy, just bloody boring and annoying.45 minutsof waves coming every 4-6 minuts just gets tedius :*(
Only times I have needed help was I belive my exit tier 3 mission (3,3,3,2) and entry master mission (4,4,4,4) pre-kessels.
Only reason i needed help was with taking out Novas and Gunboats. I have soloed a few missions with 1 or 2 novas by rushing in and blasting them with /eweapon. Expecialy on a early one whenI had a Tie Interceptor wing to back me up (NPC) they where good meat shields
I also soloed all my master missions (40 kills in kessels and Corvette). Now most my time is spent faction farming in Deep Space killing Corvettes and Gunboats in my Firespray
Also lanching occasional SpaceBombs onto the rebel space station
I will kill it eventualy

It could b possible to solo atleast 2. If you get the ships and weapons box, you should easily b able to solo ur next ones. When I did my last mission for Storm Squad, I easily soloed that. I did it w/ a fully loaded bomber and sum kicka$$ parts.

So far i've soloed Black Epsilon 3322 and those first two T3 missions are not easy to do. It took me multiple attempts to feel out the mission and get a better idea of what was needed to succed them. Basically I chose 2322 first then bought CO3 and WO3 chips and burned them into my v3 flight computer.
I found it was better to disable the waves of enemy ships instead of destroying them outright which gave me time to rest a bit between waves. Im looking foward to attempting the last two missions but at the moment the ground gave is taking priority.
There's a few people who are asking for a nerf on these missions but I really hope they don't. I felt a real sense of accomplishment soloing those missions and I wouldn't have felt that way if the missions were less difficult.

Agreed. Although these mission are extremely tough and it takes a lot to get through them, it's the most..rewarding experience I've had in SWG yet. I can honestly say that before I bought JTL, I was never really challenged. That's why I was getting so damn bored with the game. These missions force you to think, plan, and utilize every single strategy and advantage in your arsenal. Especially if you do them solo. Personally, I love the challenge. And if that aspect of JTL gets nerfed because of a few people who think they should be able to AFK macro space combat, there's just not a lot left.
The tactic of disabling enemy ships instead of outright destroying them works incredibly well. The little breaks you get from saving that time are quite valuable.

So, the trick to do the gunships are to disable them, take out the escort then the gunship?
I had the gunship disabled, I blast it to pises, then start working on the escort, but it wanished b4 I could take it out.
I thought it was just a timer on the mission, as I have goten the same mesage b4 when the gunship itself got away.

Yes, the trick is to disable the weapons and the engines on the gunship. Don't disable the reactor. You then have lots of time to finish the mission.
All missions have a 1/2 hour timer, so beware. I had a tier 4 gunship on the ropes, disabled, but took too long and it hyperspaced out. Ouch!!!
