Im a tier 4-4-4-3 imp pilot and i have not used or needed to use a droid interface with the extra commands. Is this really a benfecial componet to have and are the commands you can program that detrimental to combat. In my oppinion its a waste off mass and energy that could be used for a good blaster or engine.

Thoughts?

I use droid commands all the time. I wish the droid interface was just included in the chassis and there was a fixed time for droid commands though. As of right now, you have to get a interface with high mass/reactor drain to get a droid response time of under 30 seconds. Regardless, I always try to fit one in.

I didn't use a droid interface until after I mastered. Now I wish I had done so before. It's very handy.

Fortunately for me, I still have a pre-nerf droid interface. It's a level 1 with 13 speed and 400 mass, and even less reactor usage.

Get a tier 1 Droid Interface (low mass... speed isn't that big of a deal.)

Get yourself a flight computer v3 or above.

I use Engine Overload and Weapon Overload all the time. Believe me it makes a difference. Only issue is that those programs of course take capacitor energy to load. So I always try to leave 3-4k of my energy unused.

If you don't it may disable your 2nd weapon or launcher when activated.

I use the engine overload and weapon overload as well.

Talking about flight computers, is it best to upgrade them as I can't see why a v2 is better than a v1, can anyone tell me if it is worth updrading these ??

I start my flight with Reactor Overload 3, then Engine Overload 3, followed by Weapon Overload 3. I don't use shield commands except for certain circumstances, and I haven't had the chance to use the new commands yet.

As for the Droid Interfaces themselves, I think it depends on your playstyle. For my case, time is not an issue if I'm not going to be using commands that demand that I use one right after the other in the heat of battle. The formula for Droid Interfaces is DI speed * Command lvl. So, for example if you have a 14.5 speed interface and you use Weapons Overload 3, you can use another command in 43.5 seconds. Using the same command with a 34 speed interface would take 102 seconds before you can use another command. Like I said though, using the commands I use above, you're not going to be pressed for time as you'll have all the commands finished before hypering to the location you're going to fight.

Fortunately, the MP ship, which most likely will need on the fly adjustments such as shield shunt and such, have more than enough mass to handle level 10 Droid Interfaces that come in under 10 seconds.

That's one of the nicest things about JTL. You have these choices. If you prefer to do without it you can to get more preformance in other areas. I often go without a droid on a low mass ship in favor of more speed or firepower. Droid interfaces are often low mass and power but on a ship where every bit of mass counts a few hundred mass points can make a big difference.

I believe the higher you go, the more commands it can hold. I have a v6 FC, and I can stuff about 8 to 10 commands in it.

DarthGorilla is right. The whole thing is about choice. Play the game the way you want to. I sometimes go out without armor (not often, and not very successfully) just to see how things will go. I do it because I can. I use a droid interface and flight computer to get Cap overcharge 3, it gives me the ability to fire all three of my weapons, in salvo, for a considerable amount of time. I just wish I knew what weapons tuning does. I bought a ready chip with it burned in, bur I cannot see what it does. Anyone know??

A good blaster or engine might not actually be better than a poor blaster or engine on overload.

Just get a tiny level 1 droid interface, speed is not that important unless you intend to use lots of rebel and freelancer commands. With easy access to the imperial droid commands, you'll soon wonder how you could live without these nifty commands.

There's really no reason not to use the droid commands. A level 1 droid interface is tiny, and the benefits it gives youare huge. There's pretty much no way that the little bit of mass you'd save can make up for what the droid programs give you. Engine Overload 3 boosts your engine's max speed and PYR stats by 30%. Weapon Overload 3 in turn boosts your weapon's damage by 30%. Getting all of those bonuses costs you only around 500 mass or so, and its hard to think of anything else you could spend that 500 mass on and still get the same level of performance increase. Even if you have to use a slightly larger reactor to run those programs, you can always use Reactor Overload 3 or 4 to make up the extra required energy.

And in fact, you probably won't even need a larger reactor, a slightly smaller one will work because of these programs!

You know the funny thing is.

For a while in Tier 1 I kept a droid interface in my Tie Fighter just for the heck of it. I don't even have any commands to use. I still do because there's nothing else to fit in my ship with that size. Until I get a new ship with more mass to handle big parts I just leave it in there.

I must be one of the craziest people ever.
