I havent really played JTLS since the kessel nerf.. But Im wondering, is the KSE firespray a decent fighter? If it isnt then rebels really have nothing that can compare with imperial's TIE Oppressor...
Xwing = Great ship, I love it for PVE, but mass is far too low to compete in PVP, is also easilly out-manuevered by the oppressor.
Awing = Fast and agile, supposed to be the most manueverable ship in the game right?? Wrong... Oppressor outmanuevers it just slightly... With 4X Awing's mass.
Bwing = And well, I just tried this pile of crap... It handles WORSE then a Ywing, dramatically worse... 4 weapon slots + 2 ordenance slots really gave me some hope with this ship, I thought even if it did handle a bit rough, that's a lotta firepower, but this ship handles almost as poorly as the novacourier, and that's no exaggeration...
So I guess the only hope of competing with the high mass+high manueverability+small size of TIE Oppressor is the KSE firespray.. But before I blow 15-20 million...
Any word from ppl on how this thing flies???

Firespray is probably the easiest fighter to hit due to its big arse

First off your looking at the ships all wrong. They don't get more awesome as you go up. The best general fighter we rebels get is the xwing. Every ship has a role to play and so you aren't advancing through the tree to get a better ship your getting the ability as a pilot to choose the right ship for the right mission.
The Bwing is a capitol ship killer. It's a weapons platform plain and simple. I have started taking mine on vette runs with the group I play with. We load out with a wing of fighers (X, A)on escort detail and a designated group of bombers (bwing, ywing, MP).
I think they did the system pretty well as it's almost like levels of responsibility and competence.

You fail to mention the Y-Wing Longprobe, which to my hand flies quite like the Oppressor with one less ordinance slot and 20K more mass (give or take). Actually, most of the PvP people I talk to are still screaming around in TIE Advanced models, since they are the closest to the Rebel A-Wing. So I don't quite know what the damage here is, other than the obvious, "I can't put my L10 Shields and Blasters in the fastest ship in the game!" pap.

If you get outmaneuvered by a TIE Oppressor Pilot in PvP while flying an A-Wing there's only one thing to blame: the obvious huge discrepancy between your and the Oppressor Pilot's skill.
However I suspect you get your 'data' from comparing player piloted A-Wings with NPC Oppressors which is basically pointless as the NPC ships obviously do not even remotly follow the same rules that player ships have to follow

I'm sorry, but Awing slower than the Oppressor?? I don't think so.
Many have achieved speeds of 1200 cruise speed, with over 1000 optimum turning speed, with plenty of mass left for weapons. And that's average. Some have exceeded that by far.
The Oppressor can't even come close to touching that. The only thing that can is the Interceptor, and the Awing has more mass.

Im a freelance pilot, so i havent flown rebel craft but personaly I love my firespray.
Its a little odd to get use too thou. Its huge, but handels like a dream.
Best way I can describe it, It would be like Driving a Bus that handels like a sportscar.
MIne has 212K mass, plenty to fit in lots of good parts, even now, will be really nasty later when I start REing parts.
Only two things really bug me about it.
1.The cannons are both mounted in the center of the ship, meaning aiming is much more important then If I had one in the center and one on the wings. Im not complaining about that, just takes getting use to after flying my Rihx for so long.
2.When a ship is in your 12 oclock low, you cant see it if its within about 200 meters of you, either in 1st or 3rd person view. just takes getting use to.

Yeah from what i hear the Firespray is pretty cool. But don't complain about the Rebel's not getting a decent PvP fighter cause you and the imps both get a distinct master-level fighter PLUS the firespray. Privateers like me only get the Firespray so until I can raise the 10mil (and find a shipwright who even be able to sell me one) I'm stuck flying my level 4 Rhix fighter. Blah!

Firing my weapons from my Firespray took some getting used to. The way there mounted you can not use the leading recticle as much plus either in 3rd or 1st person you have a hard time seeing the orientation of the ship your fighting. The behind of the ship/cockpit layout is such that most times the ship is blocking your view of the target. Just need to allow a little more zoom out on third person view. I have no problems with its turning power, it is greater than an oppressor but much less than the advanced.
Overall I am pleased with it. I give up some amount of maneuverability but the mass more than makes up for it.

I am sorry mate, people just don't want to hear this, that odd thing called the truth.....I have stated this in many threads. No ship is better or worse than any other ship (not including the starter ship), all the ships are just different, know your ship...learn your ship...love your ship... You cannot take a y-wing and fly it like an x-wing, it as you stated has a different roll. Is the x-wing better than the y-wing....no it is different. My perfered style of flying is the A-wing, it can take me 10+ hits to take down a tier 5, when a Y-wing can take out the same ship in 3 or 4 shots, is it better than my sweet little pixie of an A-wing, not from my point of view. I don't know why people have in their mindthat a highertiership is supposed tobetter than a lower tier one, I just guess they are to hung up on the ground game.

As someone who gets odd looks for flying a Y-Wing Longprobe as an Ace Alliance Pilot, I couldn't agree more. Usually people think I am messing around in sectors WAY over my head, until they realize that they can't even HOPE to keep pace with my raw damage output. [insert maniacle laughter here]. Your ship's capacity is limited by two primary factors. Equipment and Skill. Sadly, there's no box on the Pilot tree with abilities like /learntojink and /aimproperly, but there is a row for Equipment, and excluding the starter ship, you can turn almost any fighter into an endgame competitor by knowing WHAT to put in it, and knowing how to handle said craft.

I am simply evaluating all of the ships equally... the Xwing is f***ed for mass. It has acceptable manueverability, and incredible firepower, but it lacks the mass to support it....

The Y-wing longprobe's ideal throttle is 50%, the TIE Oppressor's ideal throttle is 90%
