Not true, I've spent a long time PVPing in my Awing and if there is one thing I know how to do, it's manuever it. The players I flew against were the same players who I mentioned before however, who had somehow managed .1 or faster weapons, they all had UBER gear, after having farmed kessel every day for almost the entire day. So it's possible that they were simply using an engine with such high pitch/yaw that their oppressor was comperable to an Awing, Im not sure, but that's the only encounters I've had with an oppressor in PVP is them, they ALL use oppressors, and every one of them is more manueverable then an Awing.

Damned good engine. However, my point still remains. The ratio of Awings to Oppressors is a wide gap.
The fact is, if you don't see your ship matching up with it's potential, it's the mix of components, RE'd, experimented, tested, etc. that you're doing wrong, not the game mechanics.
Right now, I'm trying what many have called an impossible feat. Making a Kihraxz into a moderate damage-capable fast fighter. I only 40k mass to work with.
So far I have:
a 13k energy reactor @ 3k mass.
a 900 power/ 38 regen capacitor @ 2k mass
1200 shields @ 5k mass
And I'm taking my time with it. I'm still looking for more, and better components. And, I'm having fun RPing my search.

I'm sorry, I had to laugh here.
The Oppressor isn't a dogfighter. Anyone who's using it as one deserves to have their equipment decayed as PvP opponents rip their ship to shreds. It only maneuvers at peak performance at 75% throttle, and even then the vastly inferior stock maneuvering stats make it handle like a dog compared to the Tier IV ships. You often need to waste 1/3 of the mass to fit an L10 engine in that gives the ship one-half the abilities of an Advanced.
The Firespray is even worse, gaining maximum manueverability-to-speed at 50% throttle.
If your idea of a "worthwhile" PvP ship for the Rebels is an X-Wing with more mass that has maneuvering stats resplendent of an A-Wing, you can go soak your head in turpentine if you're not willing to suggest the same for the other pilot professions. I will NOT let you whining types of Rebels ruin JTL with the same logic you've used to erode the GCW.
The B-Wing was meant to be a slow-moving strike platform. For sake of comparison, it's an A-10. You don't send a Warthog to dogfight against front-line-fighters.
The Oppressor was meant to serve as a superiority platform with primary strike capabilities. It's an F-14 - stocky and maneuverable for something so large, but against a dedicated fighter in close quarters, it's ground beef.
The A-Wing, Interceptor, and Advanced, are dedicated dogfighters. One is an Mig-29, the next is an F-16C, and the last is an F/A-22.
the xwing has great performance, but the guns are spaced out really far and it doesnt have enough mass to really compete.
the awing is my favorite, you just tilt your head to the left and it turns for you, but at 65k mass the only thing that made it a viable option was the 92.2 reward engine (granted, the tie-adv has teh same problem and the tie-int is even worse). now i agree that we have no reason to complain about the awing not having mass, but what we can complain about is not having a heavy fighter.
im using my awing currently and i absolutly love it, but that engine is gonna wear out and if the shipwrights cant figure out how to replace it with the same mass or just slightly more, and i am unable to find a replacment, its going to be next to useless. ive been flying around lately without engine overload to see what its going to be like, and im having some trouble with it. i just wish we had something that was the on par with the tie-opp.
now im no expert in starwars lore, but i saw in some other thread someone mentioned that the xwing we have is not the "top of the line" model, and that there is some other varient of it that is supposed to be better. if we could just get a second version of the xwing at master level with more mass, and hell even less turning ability, i would be happy.
