Thread: Side perks to various squadrons?

I went back seven pages manually skimming posts for this info and did not find it, and search has never worked for me here... so....

I joined the Smuggler's Alliance squadron just because I was in Mos Eisley... got up to Teir-2 and started thinking I might swap to Imperial (I am Imperial on the ground). The Smuggler's Alliance has interesting looking ships, including (ultimately) the Millenium Falcon (YT-1300 or something?).... and the Empire has TIE fighters that are pretty stock, it seems.

Anyway, during the course of my Tier-1 missions for the Smuggler's Alliance I got a 50-item container bandolier that I LOVE... and it got me to thinking, and creating this post to ask:

What are the side perks to the various squadrons?

That is, the 50-item bandolier isn't exactly a Jedi Starfighter --- it's just a little perk. But I would hate to swap over to Imperial now, and find out that if I had stayed through Teir-2 I could have gotten, oh, I don't know, a hologram of the millenium falcon to put in my house or something.

Similarly, are there any substantial differences in the various ~branches~ of a faction? That is, I accidentally joined the RSF with one of my alts and then realized I had to drop out to join the Smuggler's Alliance on Tatooine. If I had stayed with the RSF, would I be able to get the 50-item bandolier, or is that item unique to not only the Freelancer pilots, but the Smuggler's Alliance on Tatooine specifically?

Any help would be appreciated

A couple things to keep in mind for pilots..

You can be Imperial or Rebel on the ground and still be a Neutral Pilot.
As a Neutral Pilot you can shoot down both Imperial and Rebel enemies in PvE combat (not sure about PvP)

If you like Neutral Ships best, then stick with it. I have both an Imperial Pilot and a Neutral one. I personally like the Neutral one the best.

If you are an Imperial on the ground, and Freelance Pilot, you can only DECLARE (PVP Enable) as an Imperial Pilot.
If you are a Rebel on the ground, and Freelance Pilot, you can only DECLARE (PVP Enable) as a Rebel Pilot.
If you are Neutral on the ground, and a Freelance Pilot, you can DECLARE (PVP Enable) as either faction at your discretion.

If you are a factioned pilot, you are automatically a part of the ground faction pertaining to that squadron.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

LOL I never realised that was a reward, I always assumed i'd just looted it along the way (/noogie self)

Aside from the Borstel Disruptor, there are 2 (IMHO) pieces of really great loot that you can get as a Privateer:

1. The Haor Chall engine you get from your Tier 4 exit mission. (It RE's to 92+ speed, IIRC)

2. The Vaksai.

The Vaksai is a Quest reward, NOT a pilot reward!

The Engine is a pilot reward, but all pilot professions get this one. It´s 92.2 when you get it. When you RE it you get a 95.2 engine (i RE´d a whole lot of em ).

Wow, they nerfed that engine as well? My 103.3 RE to 108spd Y74/P73/R72. Yeah..I mastered RSF in the 2nd week after launch of JTL....infact, I have 2 lvl6 92.2s......one is RE to 98 and wieghs 10K mass...the other is in my bank..never used and waiting for some really good engines to RE with.

And to the guy that posted stats on the Bor gun...the weight is not light for a lvl 8 gun. It is 6-8K heavier than my other lvl8 guns. It has a refire of .4xx not .14 and an energy drain of .14. Yeah...itll shoot forever. If the ones dropping now have your stats.....then they nerfed these as well.

Most of the rewards in any pilot faction are not really perks since you get a similar version of it regardless of the pilot faction. For example, every pilot gets a level 8 shield when he/she is working on Tier 4. There are only a few rewards that are unique to a pilot faction.

Here's some perks that I know of:
- Rebel Vortex squadron gets the option to land at the Abandoned Rebel Base from the Dantooine Station. (Great perk if you live near here and there's no shuttle port nearby)

- Imperial Inquistion pilots get the option to land at the Emperor's Retreat from the Naboo Station.
- Imperial Tier 4 reward: 'Boltdriver' gun (level 7 component)
- Imperial Tier 1 reward: TIE pilot bodysuit and helmet

- Smuggler's Alliance pilots (as well as ground BH and smugglers) get the option to land at Jabba's Palace from the Tatooine station.
- Privateer Tier 4 reward: Haor Chall engine (level 8 component)
- Privateer Tier 1 reward: mercenary bandolier (50-item wearable container)

- If you're looking to loot the Black Sun Ace helmet, privateers and Rebels get a better chance to loot it since they can get Tier 4 Black Sun duty missions.

Not true. You can be Rebel or Imperial on ground, but be Neutral in space, but you cannot (anymore) be rebel on ground and imperial in space. If you are a imperial pilot and on ground and want to swap ground faction to rebel, then you will also loose the pilot once you swap the ground faction... This does not apply to Neutral pilots though. As a neutral pilot you can swap factions inany way you see fit (Perfect for smugglers in example for rolplay... etc.)

As for the Side perks: Every pilot proffesion gets a Pilot jacket and Helmet form the faction they are. Also every pilot gets a 92.2 engine somewhere in tier4. ---- Where have you been? That was longtime nerfed.

Neutrals also get a gun called "Borstel Disruptor" somewhere in tier4, this is a very fine piece, since it is only 39k of weight with a refire rate of 14 and an energy consumption per shot of mere 0.4 whilst doing something aroud 4k of max damage (Sunno the exact without checking ingame, wich i cant, im at work atm )with a vs shield/armor of 0.63/0.64. I carry 2 of those in my advanced X-Wing for example..

The lvl6 92.2 reward engine (given in Teir 3 I think it was) was nerfed long ago..the Teir 4 engine he refers to was 103.3 and nerfed to 92.2 at the same time.

So, if the Vaksai is a Quest Reward, and NOT a pilot reward, is it a quest that any pilot can do, or do you have to be a pilot for the Freelancers to do the quest?

Also, the landing-zone rights... The Abandoned Rebel Base, Jabba's Palace and the Emperor's Retreat? Is there no way to get these landing-zone rights any other way? I mean, specifically, Jabba's?

I have done Jabba's Theme Park and didn't think anything of being able to land at his palace from orbit... but if I switch to Imperial, will I no longer be able to land at Jabba's?

And just for the record, landing at the Emperor's Retreat ---- which is a hop, skip and a jump from Moenia ----- isn't much of a reward.

Still, I suppose if I wanted to rap with Ol' Wrinkly and The Dark One it would be handy...
