Thread: Question about Travel

hey all,

I just did a good deal of reading and was unable to find an answer to this question. I also went and sent in a ticket asking this question, but was told I was asking for hints, and the CSRs can't answer it (you'll see what I mean in a minute), and promptly closed my ticket (go figure).

In the multiplayer ship for SWG, I'm running into an issue with the travel command. I'm on the ground, and travel, but only get options to the following planets:
Tatooine,
Naboo,
Corellia,
Lok
Thus, dathomir, endor, talus, yavin, rori are missing. Is there a reason for this? I know, I can manually go into space and travel there, with no issues...but sadly that still takes quite a bit of time. One CSR told me I had to travel the normal space routes (naboo -> corellia -> dathomir), but even when in corellia, I get the options for the above planets. When I'm on Dathomir, I also get the exact same options.

Does anyone know the answer to this? As you can tell, this isn't a 'hint thing' I was asking, who knows why the ticket was closed :-/

Thanks all.

Its been reported and reported and reported since beta, they should KNOW about it by now, but they aren't acknowledging it..

I find it funny the CSRs closed my ticket because I was asking this question. Too bad they can't be more helpful sometimes.

Does anyone know if this was happening in Beta?

It was only put in place so that people who had to leave those sectors in beta could get back to those sectors to finish a mission, and it wasn't intended to avoid space travel with only to avoid a "to many players in sector" message you'd get and your warp would be aborted (there were a lot of players on S.B.1 server).

It's a bug that was in beta but not considered high enough priority to fix, since you can launch and hyperspace.

The game displays the destination selection from a Tatooine starport. Since you can't travel to several planets directly from Tatooine using shuttles, the other desinations are not selectable.

For now, launch then hyperspace to get to the other planets. (And make sure you read the description for each hyperspace point, it includes the distance to the space station)

Actually later in beta it was acknowledged by the devs (asommers posted about it) that the travel option is broken and it was intended to allow travel everywhere (basically bypassing using the shuttle system). It wasn't just a bypass for the 'too many players' problem. There was a different system with a popup window used for that workaround.

Short answer: broken since it was introduced, acknowledged that it will be fixed.

No, you're thinking of a different work-around. That work-around allowed us to launch into any sector, and land at any starport from any space station.

The travel system is intended to go into the game, but there's a bug that's easily worked-around.

Again, the reason you can't get to those planets is because they are Restricted do to Imperial Control.

Rori and Talus (From what I understand) are bugs...

Regardless you can Hyperspace to those places.

No its no a bug (Except Rori and Talus.

Ok, here was my experience in travel. Sorry I don't want to retype the whole thing over or just cut and paste.

I seem to remember it being said in beta that you arent supposed to be able to just travel to these other systems. The idea was that the core systems are relatively safe and you can easily have an uneventful trip, but if you are going to the more remote systems the danger level is higher and you arent guaranteed a safe trip.

I may be mis remembering this but it does seem to make sense anyway. travelling to dathomir should not be like catching a bus there should imo be some risk to it.

If that was the case, then the dangerous planet of Lok would not be one of your options.
