having now vaped a couple of live criminals in space, i have a question or 2;
do you get anything for space pvp? i did not see any message about the guy i smoked. it didn't change my /showpvp rating, and i didn't seem to get any faction.
so..... is there a point to space pvp other than to smoke the criminals?
i would at least like to see a on screen message 'you killed XXXXXXXX' or something like that.

I think they need to implement some kind of space pvp rating or ladder for pilots to compete with each other. As it stands, there's not really any incentive to pvp in space.

i almost always (90%) fly overt in space. this morning while i had nothing really to do (every one else is asleep), i went space overt, and hit every system, flying a patrol around the wpts and investigating any players i found. no overts though 
... just fun rp stuff....
there does need to be something. at least tell me who i vaped.

yup something does need to change. I fly around overt 100% of the time i'm in space. and i've run into maybe 3 overts. there does need to be incentive for pvp in space. because as it is everyone only wants to pvp on the ground. grr.. dont' get me wrong. i love pvp'ing on the ground to. but it takes sooo much more skill to be a good pvp'er in space. plus there is decay on your ship when you die, pvp or pve outside of DS. that needs to change to what they did with the ground game. if you die from any kind of pvp related incident then you do not suffer the decay. if that changes you might see more people attempt it. maybe..

Honestly I love PvP in space I never do it on the ground but I won't PvP out of DS, I don't want to ruin the rude parts I have on my ship. I've spent a month collecting and RE'ing for them to get vaped for what is pointless pvp at the moment.
Still try organising a battle event in DS. We did it on Chimaera the other week. Orgainised the Rebs and the Imps to meet in DS at 9pm no one in DS an hour before, then we all went nuts. You can't run around on random kill mode like on the ground you have to organise the battles.

Yes. Even if you are not going for the special large scale event, you can get a list of imp and reb pvp pilots, then call them up for a skirmish and have a blast.

Space PvP is horribly short and still tends to be "who gets the drop on who"

As opposed to "who got the better gear/template" as it is on the ground. I prefer space by far.

I see the same problem in space as well on the ground, you need to be a master to do anything. The main reason i dont PVP on the ground or space is that unless you have the uber loot or template combat is very one sided. Example: Lets say that 2 players are dueling each have a longprobe, first player is 2/2/2/2 and has played many flight sims and the other is 4/4/4/4 and never played a fight sim before. Due to the second players equipment advantage he is almost assured a win due to either heavy shielding or high damage weapons, becase he could take all the teir 2's guns if he stood still and blow the teir 2 up with one shot cause of the amount of damage the guns do. If you look at this thread http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=lightspeed&message.id=171786&jump=true, this shows a idea on how to level the playing ground to make PVP fun for everyone.

Sheesh... Tier 2 ship, single level 5 gun, vs a YT-1300 with quest reward shields... 2 or 3 shots and the shields were down to 67%.
You do NOT need to be master to be effective in PvP. Shields go down the same, with tier 2 or 3 gear as with tier 4 gear.

Well, ill tell you why i PvP.
1.) It's a thrill. It's not like the ground game, it acutally takes a measurable degree of personal skill.
2.) This is an RPG, and i chose to play the role of an Imperial Navy Pilot. The other reason i PvP is to seek out and destroy overt rebels in space grinding faction points. Can't let them have the run of the place ya know
3.) Self defense. Sometimes ill grind faction points too, and there are rebels who seek out imperials like i do rebels. As of yet i haven't been caught, but i know it's gonna happen so im listing it now
