Title says it all, if you like, include whether or not you use a joystick, your current progress (2nd tier, 3rd, ACE, etc) and preferred ship.

Old school sim pilot here. First person view all the way. I like the feeling that I am sitting in the pilot's seat.
I use a stick and throttle setup (CH products or my good old Saitek x45).
I tried the mouse control just to see how they did it. It works so-so, but I strongly recommend a joystick, you can do maneuvers someone using a mouse can't or will do it too slow.
I am 3/4/3/3 Alliance pilot and totally in love with my X-Wing. But, I do want to get and check put a B-Wing too.

If anyone is interested. Like I said I have been playing flight sims for years and have tried out numerous flight controllers.
Here are my recommendations: http://www.ion-guild.com/forum/viewtopic.php?forum=3&showtopic=444

do people feel that one view or another gives them any competitive advantages?

fyi i'm die hard 1rst person, joystick. i've tried using 3rd person and the mouse but found both to be a handicap, i did not bother to seriously think about the reasons why but i'd love to see someone's reasons as to why i was right or wrong.

1st person, no cockpit, x45 joystick. have hat mapped to view controls of course - i would play with cockpit like I do all real flight sims, but the Tie cockpits are WAY to restrictive.
Looking at getting a trackIR system for WWIIonline that would also come in useful here.

If the radar system was more like what we had in the X-Wing/TIE Fighter games then I would use first person more often... but since the radar system is more like Rogue Squadron I prefer the third person view. The radar in this game is too cluttered, the radar in X-Wing and the sequels was much easier to read and identify with.

i love first person. I played Privateer and Privateer 2 so much i aceept nothing else.
As far as a joystick, i got a little thingy to convert my xbox controller to a USB joystick. I might try it out. It didn't work to well on a FPS, but maybe JTL will be different. O.o

First person, full cockpit full HOTAS setup from Thrustmaster. Good flight sim realism.

First person with cockpit turned ON, none of that cockpit disabled stuff-its just what I am used to, I find it harder to fly in 3rd person.
Yes I use a joystick, but its been broken for the past few days (fixed now) so I am still only at tier 1, working on tier 2.
