Thread: The Jedi StarFighter

I just learned from a friend that the only way to get this is by doing an imperial quest, thus being an imperial...

I myself dont think this is right, you only have to look at the most recent film to see the fighter used by Obi Wan, as sure rebel as Luke. Furthering this point, the ARCs are used by the cloners - who later become the imperial stormtroopers.

There foer i feel it is due that the new ships (ARC, JSF and Greivious' ship) should be open to all factions, just as the certificates say.

Does any one else have an opinion on this? If you disagree, say do , and if you agree, perhaps we can get enough signatures to turn the heads of the developers...

The ships are useable by all factions I think, you only need to be a certain faction to be able to do the quest and get the reward.

(And for the arc you need to have completed the quest to be able to unpack the deed; nu clue if this applies to jedi/grievous fighter as well).

I don't really see the problem with this. As to the storyline part, that one has been abandoned long ago

Everyone that did the quest can fly it... so it´s noteven tradable

Im in the middle of this quest and im bugged. And all the CSR´s say is "We know of this" "We can not help you" (Wich is bullcrap, they could have set this one damn mission to "done" or something like that!) "We appreciate your patience" wich is great, especially since im totallyscrewed now.

I can not finish the mission, wich in effect means i can not go back to my normal faction until they fix this or patch it or whatever.

I had never see in the movies Rebels and imperials using the same ships to fight each other.
There should be more factional restrictions; i dont care what ship to what faction, but must be done.

I agree, you do not see Imperials using X-wings. However these craft are soley used by the rebels, as TIES are by the imperials. However, the old starfighters that are in my question are used in a previous war, adn so surely since then the ship manufacturer has made these ships widely availible.

Whilst not diving in too deeply, you have to admit that the fighters in question have ties to neither faction, therefore it is unfair that they should be separated into them now.

If you really want to get down to it, both the JSF and the ARC were used by the Republic which became the Empire.

By that logic, the Empire would have access to both of these ships and the Rebels would get nothing (from the current lineup of new ships).

This game does not follow the movie story line. Period.

So quoting the movie storyline as a basis for a debate is simply a waste of typing.

The game is heavily based on the overall Star Wars universe, yes, but it certainly doesn't follow the time line well at all.

If it did, we wouldn't have so many player Jedi running around that we can't swing a dead cat without hitting one these days.

In any case, the Jedi Starfighter belongs to no "faction". You can look up all the details of it on the official Star Wars site, but basically, like almost ALL the ships you see in the movie, it was contracted for the Republic - which spawned BOTH the Rebellion and the Empire, not just one or the other. The one you see in Episode 3 was a modified version of the original Detla 7 by Kuat Systems. The modifications were based off of the changes Anakin Skywalker did to his original Delta 7, and Kuat Systems put out what you see now - the ETA-2.

The ETA-2 is pilotable by anyone. The quest can only be done by Imperials. Not a big deal. There are ships around that I personally cannot get myself being an Imperial. I really don't care. If I want one, I can trade for it or buy it. *shrugs*

Since we're so interested in the storyline, here's a little spoiler about the JSF given in SWG. It's given to you by Darth Vader, and it's his old ship, so it's perfectly appropriate for the quest to require you to be an Imperial.

Arguments about whether it's "fair" are pointless. Each side has a quest to get a movie ship, and each quest requires you to be a member. That seems fair in my mind. While most people may find the JSF more useful or desirable that's a matter of opinion, not fairness. It just means that the work you need to do to get the ship is more worth it to you in the end, yes? The game is about choices, make the choice to get the ship or not, but trying to argue unfairness when there is none is silly.

That's an awesome heads up, mate.

Yes, since Anakin Skywalker was the one who did the modifications to the original Delta-7, and Kuat Systems took those mods and implemented it into the new version of starfighter, the ETA-2, it was intergrated into the SWG quite nicely by the Devs by having Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker) give you the ETA-2 in the end.

I didn't even think about this. Very nice.

Another little heads up, if you fail the quest for vader and go back to talk to him again, besure to select the respectful response or vader will KILL you. just a little FYI.

Hahahaha, that's an awesome feature by the way. Only proper.

Sort of like when/if you go back to the Emperor's hologram to talk to him a second time - he'll fry you with force lightning. THAT'S AWESOME! This isn't the care-bear Rebellion, after all, you are dealing with the Emperor and Darth Vader of the Empire - expect to be killed if you displease them in any way (being stupid)!!!.

Didnt Anakin's Jedi Starfighter get destroyed along with Obi-Wan's when they crash landed into that shuttle platform at the start of Episode III? Both ended up spinning out of control, and then when the ship broke up into two in orbit the shuttle platform was the second half that drifted back into space. Those ships should be completely destroyed and torn appart.

If I'm right, then how is Darth Vader able to give it to you when it shouldnt really exist?

Another thing, the ARC-170 is one of the original designs that led to the X-Wing. Incom disbanded from the Empire when they switched their main manufacturer to Seinar Fleet Systems, and went to the Rebellion with the X-Wing designs. So, in a way, the Rebels sort of deserve the ARC-170, especially considering the Queen of Naboo is sympathetic to the Rebellion.

But then again, we are talking SOE and SWG here...
