Thread: please help me identify a ship!
Unless you are talking about the TIE Interceptor, which has the angled wings with four points.

Player ships in-game? There is a list of them here that you can look at.

or TIE/in?
the LN is the 'line' version. the 'in' might be shorthand for the Interceptor, as noted above. the "light duty TIE", the "heavy TIE" (made with asteroid resources), the "TIE fighter", and the TIE/ln (often listed as /in, instead) all use the same model.
EDIT: also, a better list is here. it's in the pilot forum FAQ.

My tin foil hat theory is that the Tie/in is a typo. There is no T/in.
There is a T/I (for Tie interceptor)
and theres a T/LN ( for tie Linefighter)
but there is no T/in.. err at least, not outside of JTL.

/agree
If you look, the TIE/IN is listed as the TIE/LN somewhere else...in a description or something. I don't recall.
And he's right. There's the TIE Interceptor, which is the T/I or TIE/I, and the TIE Line Fighter, which is the TIE/LN. I suspect the capital "i" looked like an "L" so it slipped through the screens.

Iammergeier or lammergeier? it's happened before.
I usually name the Blueprints TIE L/N as well. (Check that, I don't make non-Master Blueprints anymore.)

Almost correct. The TIE fighter for Tier 2 has the same basic look but is a darker colour then the Normal TIE Fighter series. More like a Blue/Black TIE Fighter.
