I have been playing since launch of SWG and participated in the Beta for JTL. After the initial "WOW" factor of JTL-Beta, I have chosen not to buy the expansion because beyond the visuals it didn't do much for me. It wasn't the the bugs the discouraged me(used to those), I just felt there wasn't that much there to justify a significant cost. Based on the pain we have endured with this game, I felt this should have been a free upgrade or nominal activation fee. I would consider itcredit provided afterenduring all of these problems in the ground game coupled with the fact that I have always been a BH; don't even get me started down that path.
Iconsider myself a loyalist to SWG(sucker?), I have stuck with it because I am a huge Star Wars fan, but I can only throw so much money away. While I tend to still enjoy the ground game and the role of the MBH once in a while, I can't see giving SOE more money for what at the moment seems like more of the same ol' same ol'.Theinevitability of bigger bugs to contend with in JTL and less time and resources to fix what hasbeen outstanding for many professions on the ground game can only be described as discouraging...
Do better, and I will buy it.
Finally, being a MBH and not reading any concrete evidence of being able to pursue Jedi targets(isn't this my one and only job in SWG?)in space and with no desire to ever switch professions; why bother dropping more cash on something that doesn't further my engagement in the game? Oh, you say it will? When will that be? After the combat balance? Why should I wait in the first place? Why weren't things thought through more before launching in regards to all professions? I know my experience on the ground will probably suffer, maybe get worse as Jedi targets take off into space. If thats the case, then I guess I'll just cancel, its just a game. It all seems rushed, not thought out, or possibly done to save something - maybe.
Still,I would like to know if veteran players are buying into the JTL expansion? If so, what are your thoughts?

I dont reply to very many posts, and the only time I ever complained about the state of the game was waaay back in beta 3. You know you can complain about this game all you want, and you can cancel it even. You can even go play another mmorpg that I can promise you wont be anything like swg, because there is nothing else like it. Im not saying this game doesnt have bugs or anything like that. Im saying there is no other game like this anywhere, and now there is space!
DUDE!....... SPACE!
Im gonna complain a little, I just cant keep going this way so here goes.
I wish I could have pre-ordered the expansion so I could have the cool speeder, and I wish I didnt lose my cable connection, so I could have joined everyone in beta. I wish I could log in right now and decorate my veterans reward right now, but I cant. I lost my ability to earn a living from a doctor that said OOPS! He blocked the femoral artery in my right leg. 7 days later emergency surgery saved the leg, but left it with major nerve damage that has severe pain 24/7. Last week I was told I have crps/rsd, with no cure, and the highset pain known to man, and it has spread from my right leg to my back and left leg.
I was the mktg dir for a casino, and owned a 20 acre ranch with 2 homes. Now I live in a little house that I cant even afford the rent. I live in california so legal remedy is very difficult, but im not giving up, and im still fighting the social security for disability. So I have zero income, just some good family that keeps me playing swg because it actually helps me with pain, and with my mental outlook.
SWG is the best game out, and it keeps me out of my pain reality, andis fun, full of friends. A place that I can forget everything, and push the pain so far back in my mind that it doesnt come forward for a few hours, and then it is time for pain meds anyways. I want to own the expansion sooooooo bad that im ready to sell some pain meds for it, but, man I need those things so bad.
So im prolly not gonna be able to play in space for a few months, I lost the chance when I lost my broadband connection and couldnt download the beta =( .
It seems your reasons for not playing are trivial to me, when you cant go buy another mmorpg and blast any tie fighters. About the best your gonna get is banging away at some orcs, and even then your gonna get the bugs and stuff that goes along with mmorpg's. Sure stuff is broken, but even with all the stuff that is wrongit is the best dang mmorpg on the market today, and the only one like like. I havent seen one orc, have you?

Invayder put things in pretty good perspective peeps, wouldn't you think?
This game isn't perfect but it's pretty damn good, particularly when you consider its complexity and the various play systems that must interact.
I'm sorry to hear what happened to you Invayder and hope things in RL start looking up.

Bought it, enjoy it. It could be better, but there's nothing out there that's better than SWG to play.

I have been here since Beta 2.I pre-order SWG and I pre-ordered JTL. For me Star Wars Galaxies does not have a beginning or an end it just is.
I want the sandbox, the tools to build my sandcastle and some great friends to enjoy the day with. Star Wars Galaxies does that and much much more. It is the living facsimile of Star Wars, sure there are some things that will change and there are things that will be the same but the simple fact is there are no other games that are the Star Wars Universe. This is it.
I don't want to play in another world. Star Wars is the world that I want. All of the other MMORPHS can be a great game experiance but they can not be Star Wars. So for me getting JTL was a no brainer. I want to complete experiance and JTL is the part that was missing. Now the game will start to mature and as it does the system will just get better and better until
the experiance is just what the game should be.
For me there is no "Grind". There are bugs that crawl on the sand of the Dantooine desert. Suns and moons that raise and fall with the coming and going of each day. The only grinding I hear is the grind of my speederbikes gears wearing out. I play like I am in an adventure and not in a race. So there we have it.
Yes I bought JTL and I am enjoying every minute of it!

I'm still undecided as to what I will do, initially I had said I was gonna get it, but now I'm not sure. They kind of screwed themselve releasing so close to EQ2 and WoW b/c for me, if JtL didn't impress me I was gonna quit SWG altogether. With it releasing so close to EQ2, which I plan on getting, I don't want to spend 29.99 on the expansion when EQ2 drops on Nov. 8th then turn around and drop 49.99 on that and like it then not even play SWG anymore.
I mean I was in beta and as the original poster said, after the initial "ah this is cool" and the visuals, it is basically just like the ground game, kill 5 million ships until you are master then there's nothing to do. I mean even before beta was over I was bored, I was pilot 4/4/4/4 and since they were ending before i could master pilot, I didn't try, but in the interim I had nothing to do, so I didn't even play beta the last day or two. I don't want to purchase the live version, master pilot, then be lost with nothing to do, like I was with the ground game.
So basically, I'll most definitely not be buying the expansion until after EQ2 drops, I'll get that, see how that goes and if that's just horrible, then I might come back and check out JtL. But personally after I've been here so long, JtL didn't really impress me that much, it certainly didn't make me think that it will bring new life to the game, It'll just give you something more to grind for a month or so. Normally I'd see if I give it time it might get better, but I made that mistake with the ground game, devs here don't have any of my confidence after they just refused to address issues like the GCW and Combat, keep saying we'll fix it later just doesn't cut it with me, so I won't be so naive with JtL.
As it stands though, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think I'll be getting the expansion, but I think SWG has outlived it's life for me, so like I said, unless EQ2 just really blows, my accounts will probably be cancelled by the end of november.

Yeah, I went ahead and bought it. Like beta though, I kept getting blwon right back out of space before getting a kill because I can't tell wehre the enemy ship is at. So, I won't be playing in space much for a while. guess I'll stay grounded for a while, but this version is much better than beta. We need some kind of targeting and tracking mechanism, and if we have one, we need a better one, because this one doesn't work.

I bought it...i think JTL is sweet... i sure like using my skill other than turn for a change...Yes the ground game is buggy but i like SWG's in general and JTL enhances the Starwars expierience.
