These things need to be nerfed. It's ridiculous how the TIE/Agressor's rear turret manages to be more accurate and powerful than the FRONT guns. And the AI seems to be programmed to use this exploit (and yes, I believe this to be an exploit in the game), as the Agressor always runs away (thus exposing you to it's deadly never miss rear turrets) rather than even attempt to fight you.
I'm getting sick of being fried in a few shots against these things despite having a well equipped Xwing with good shields...
Only way to fight agressors is to joust them. Indeed, before the AI change where TIEs would always joust, Agressors were easier to defeat...

Tactics, my friend, TACTICS!
Destroy Weapon 1 before you do anything else.
Make full use of
- missiles
- shields transfer to front- IFFscramble
and you should remove theturret before you take any armour hits, making the aggressor about as dangerous as a toothless baby mouse.

My tactic for taking on Aggressors is to not attack it from the rear...
Once you find an Aggressor target it's Weapon1 Component and line up from the front, commence firing, as soon as you start taking shots from the turret engage your boosters and get out of range (600m). After gaining range cut throttle to low and turn back, the Aggressor should be making a heads-on approach at this time. Open fire and cause as much damage as possible to the Weapon1, once you are past him and in the arc of the rear gun engage boosters again and get out of range. Repeat... once the rear gun is down from your front approaches the Aggressor is no threat of any sort, get in behind and finish them off. I've been able to take on Tier 5 Aggressors in Kessel easily with the above tactic. Aggressors are not highly manoveurable so getting out of range isn't typically a problem. If the rear turret gun is the problem then the easiest way to remove the problem is to not get into a position where it can fire on you.

I always shoot out the turret first.
I think they should make all the NPC Y-wings turreted versions to make it fair though

i just fly up their #$% and let em have it, works every time. make sure you use weapon overload3 and some big guns, and as long as you know how to aim and can place the shots, you should be fine. my xwing eats aggressors alive, and i just have a crafted lvl7 shield. my awing does too only it takes a bit longer. another thing that helps is to use cap overload and run cap to shield shunt 3 after you start taking damage, it will recharge a few hundred points on both the front and back shields. with a low speed interface you can run the CtSS3 often enough to have a sort of always running eshields that still lets you shoot.

I agree... until i figured out how to dogfight these damn annoying ships, I was pwned all the time by them. Now that I finally got my configuration for KSE set, I pwn them.

The issue i have with these evil ships is that they seemingly NEVER miss, which for anyone thats manned a MP turret (especially on a fighter!) can attest is a very challenging task to say the least. I can destroy these things but i always take a pounding from their magical never-miss turret targeting.
I still tail them tho and just pound the hell outa their rear turret till its gone. Occasionaly ill have to break away for a sec to let shields recover but usually i just stick it out till ive snipped its annoying stinger off.

Yes I agree they are really tough buggers to take out. I believe they are the most challenging NPC ship in the game aside from bigger ships such as the gunboats, etc. I have learned a strategy that works for me so I can handle them now. When I was novice Pilot I always ran away to try and avoid them.
So other than coming up with a strategy that works for you (and there are some good ones above) there is not much we can do. But if the DEVs were to nerf itI would suggest that they do one of two things. One, add in greater variance for the turret to miss. Or two, increase the refire rate to slow it down. If you notice, the turret fires 2 to 3 times faster thanthe regular blaster of just about any TIE ship.

Here's what I think....
The refire rate on the Agressor is about right. We can fire 3 to 4 times per second depending on what our gus can do and the Agressor fires about once a second. So, we have a 4:1 shot advantage. Here's the problem as I see it. They seldom miss, the gun is very powerful, the shield is rather strong, the ship is fast and maneuverable, and the targeting of our own weapons leave a lot to be desired.
I can kill em easily with my B-Wing since with cap and weapons overload along with 4 guns I pack a pretty good punch. I haven't expiremented at all with missiles but I know they work having seen others use em. I have a really tough time with my A-Wing. With less powerful guns and smaller shields I can still take out an Aggressor but not if he has any support at all. They do need to be toned down a little and the A-Wing needs to be made a bit more maneuverable at lower speeds. I am always overshooting my target if its greatly slower than me. I can kill a tier 5 oppressor faster than a Tier 3 TIE. Stupid eh?

rebels using tactics?
I thought whining WAS the rebel tactic.
I guess he dont like targeting weapons.

Actually, I've found (even in an A-Wing) that it doesn't matter too much if you target the weapon or not. With Weapon Overload 3, almost anyone can blow away an Aggressor with a single Level 8 or 7 gun in less than 3 seconds. The only problem is when the dreaded invulnerability bug rears its ugly head.
I just wish that we could share the love with our Imperial friends by adding the turret gun to NPC Y-Wings.

I too had to bow down to the aggressor many many times in the past. The thing that changed it all for me was when I got shields with 2500 strength and two 3.5k damage guns. Target the turret and fire away while ignoring the damage it does to me......I would save any droid commands and pilot commands for emergencies....if my shields get taken out, that's when I use them (all)....if it really gets hot and I'm taking damage in the armor, I fire up /eshields and retreat until my weapons come back online.....the aggressor usually gives chase though, but it's slow so you can easily outrun it.....then I head back in and finish it off.
Here's4 tips I've noticed about the tier 5 aggressor.
1) the shields on the aggressor seems to recharge fairly fast, so you gotta keep the heat on it to get through the shields and hit the turret.
2) once the turret starts taking damage, it's damage output gets weaker....when I first engage the aggressor, the turret can take out my shields in 5 direct hits....maybe 6....but once I get the turret to 80%, it takes the aggressor 10 or more direct shots to fully take out my shields.....once I get it down to less than 40%, it can't even scratch me.
3) the turret seems like it's about 90% accurate, but I've noticed that you can make it miss sometimes by doing drastic speed shifts. throttle to 20% and use boosters to throttle to max, fly from one side of it and slowly pass under it and once you get to the other side hit full throttle (sort of at an angle to where you can still shoot it while making a pass). It takes a couple of seconds for the turret to track you again and accurately hit....the key is that you have to stay close to the aggressor...the farther away you are from it, the easier it is for the turret to track you and hit you with no delays.
4) the last tip if you just can't seem to survive is to either take a group or only engage the aggressor when there are rebel npc ships close by....the turret will split it's fire on you and them....gives your shields a small break.
Other than all this, I just say get the best droid interface you can get and use those droid commands like crazy baby.....I finally found one that allows me to do commands in under 20 seconds....it's great.
Now aggressors are a bit easier, but if I don't pay close attention, I still get fried crispy like bacon.
