I was reading my Starwars Galaxies Strategy guide because i was bored and I was Reading up on faction perks and came across something very very intresting! As one of the perks , 'Orbital Bombardment" was listed. I havent seen this in game .....but its in the strat guide? could this mean in JTL we might be able to put those orbital star destroyers to good use and finnaly implement this feature?

JtL might not have this when it first comes out, unless its a mission where you HAVE to destroy or disable something, like... oh say a ISD is attacking a base and it is your job with your squad to take there planetary cannon out by any means necessary.

I dont think they will have this any time soon. I mean there has been talk of geting Cap ships and so on but from the looks of it all the first version will only have fighters and small transport ships. Maybe later but it would be nice to take out a base on the planet from the stars =)

What I ment to say is you can only (as a player) be in Fighters and small Transports. Later updates will have more ships, hope to be biger ones that is but hey its Star Wars, there not going by the time line much anyway so let us see what we get and if its not what we want... { insert insult here }

There are a few things in the Strat guide that were scrubed from the game after the made the guide. There is no reason at all to assume because its in the ED strat guide its gonna be in JtL, since there will likely be a JtL strat guide. That dosn't mean we won't see something like this, butas I said they were just features that were cancelled or delayed till a much later date.

As forthe other posts... this would have NOTHING to do with player ships. In fact in space you wouldn't even see the "bombartment"probly. All you would likely be able to see of it, is it hitting the ground. Tho NPC star destroyers are in the game... it just wouldn't look good the way things are in sapce and such.

Orbital Bombardment was probably a perk for Imperials. That IS what it said right? Thats old SWG Beta info, NOT JTL. The Rebels had a perk where they could call in a shuttle from anywhere on a planet.

Dear Emperor,

It is my understanding that at least three cities on Tatooine are hotbeds of Rebel recruiting and strife caused by low life elements allied to the Rebels.

Please order your fleet to destroy the cities of Anchorhead, Mos Espa and Mos Entha. Heck, Espa and Entha have no population to speak of other than rebel NPCs that attack your loyal Legion of Stormtroopers.

Please with sugar and a cherry on top?

Get rid of those cities.

This would be a great addition to guilds who are actively at war with each other. Make it a faction perk that either faction could buy at high cost to have the oppossing city bombarded from space. Now only would this look really really cool, but It'd feel more like war, casualties in the city, maybe structure damage of some sort, beautifcation's destroyed. Not my idea so I dont have any real worked out details too it but deffiently something that can be toyed with, I hope the Dev's consider it

If one of the storage houses I own full of resources got destroyed because someone had enough faction points to call in an obital bombardment, I'd be mighty sore.

Something along these lines was promised the in the original prima strategy guide, along with many other really neat faction ideas they never delivered on.

What about basicaly just grenades droping from the sky?

Would not damage structures (mabey decorative structures, just for effect could be repaired w/o decay) only players in that city.

They would damage every one within 10m of the grenade explosion, overt or nutral.

Can only be done onto player citys. (no you cant call in a bomb strike on cornet to kill all the AFK docs and spamers )

Costs 1-2 million prestige points. (space FP) This would add some reason to go into space after master, and since your calling orbital strikes it makes sence that it have to do with JTL.

I dont agree with orbital bombing damaging player housing or storage, that would be really bad. But the city beautifucation stuff, that can be replaced, and only makes sense that if your at war with another guild, the city you call home could be at risk. So outside firepits might get damaged or destroyed, trainer NPC's and terminals, these have a decent ripple effect in causing grief, and if your at war. that is one thing you should expect. BUT just to be fair, it would be a good time to implement city shield generators to protect against such an attack. Imagine if you will, a guild attacking a player city, not to take down a rebel base but to get to the city shield generator that is perhaps protected by the rebel base, so that they might trigger an orbital strike. that would be cool pvp fun.
